Re: Juno 60 Strange issue....
I know this is old but I came across this post while trying to debug another Juno 60 with the same "issue"... did some further investigation of the Juno 60's power-up process and its behavior, and decided to just stick my findings here in case anyone else was ever searching for the same thing. I thi...

Re: Questions on the Prophet 5
Given that you know it's only a few kB of code and you know what peripherals are mapped where, it might be worth disassembling the ROM to see what's going on. Hi erroneousbosh, I recognize your username from elsewhere on the internet (reddit). Am I allowed to say that? Anyway, I wanted to jump in f...

Re: Oberheim OB-Xa Servicing?
I know this is an old thread but wanted to put this information somewhere where people could easily find it. We just put Encore MIDI in a 100% functional OB-Xa and it immediately stopped booting up as soon as the Encore board was installed. I spent some time ruling out any other possible cause of th...

Re: Behringer ARP 2500 modules
My very first thought when I saw this was that I can't imagine Behringer being able to produce a remotely decent rendition of the slide switch matrix! From their mockups it looks like they might not be planning to try to, which I think is probably for the best. The cheap electromechanical parts used...

Re: Source for wire?
After ordering wire from many different places over the years, I now get all our wire from Remington industries (300V PVC insulation) and as far as I've discerend it's pretty much or exactly the same as the wire that comes from the Bulk Wire place except you can get good deals on a box of 6 or 10 sp...

OK, you don't have to dumpster dive a medical power supply or use a stack of Meanwell switchers, there's a very concise, affordable and neat way to get/build a *linear* power supply for this. Start with the MFOS Adjustable Bipolar Power Supply (PCB on Synthcube: https://synthcube.com/cart/MFOS%20Adj...

Re: Arp Omni 2 Repair – String Control Board
I have a complete set of ARP service manuals that were given to me by a former ARP service manager and they include only one version of the Omni 2 service manual/schematic, and though the cover says "Models 2471, 2472, 2473 and 2475" every page says "2470" which I take to mean 247x. I don't know wha...

Re: extreme Moog MG-1 Realistic Concertmate expansion/mod kits coming soon - and a request for opinions!
Thanks folks! In my opinion I think you should also look at: • Sustain, for a ADS- or ADR envelope. Makes a ton of difference. More than you would think actually. • Transpose -1 oct for both OSC's since they by default are rather high pitched. • Overdrive for a more saturated output Oh, one thing I ...

Re: extreme Moog MG-1 Realistic Concertmate expansion/mod kits coming soon - and a request for opinions!
OK @KSS... I guess I was mistaken about the backstory! I thought I'd read about it when I first got my first one about 10 years ago but maybe I didn't, or maybe what I read was just speculation. I should get my facts straight so I know whose work I'm undermining! But my other initial thought was tha...

Re: extreme Moog MG-1 Realistic Concertmate expansion/mod kits coming soon - and a request for opinions!
@Jarno, actually one of the reasons I chose this synth as the "target" for this project is because they are quite ubiquitous and relatively cheap in the US. Definitely the absolute cheapest Moog-- you can still find nonworking ones for ~$300 on Ebay pretty often which is hundreds less than the VERY ...

Re: extreme Moog MG-1 Realistic Concertmate expansion/mod kits coming soon - and a request for opinions!
(continued) So, now that I finally have the *final* PCB version finished and was just about to start making the install instructions, I've 90% decided to scrap that whole plan and remake the whole thing with a new, big, full-panel PCB. The advantages are obvious. No wiring for the person building/in...

OK folks, bear with me because I have both a lot of information to deposit here, and a sort of convoluted request for opinions! gonna break it into 2 posts. Re: Lost in BJTs
My perspective is a little different because my head is 80% in servicing designs already built and 20% in designing, but I do have one simple thing to mention which was implied in some other people's answers, but which I can maybe help untangle from the more in-depth and specific discussions I saw a...

Would you as...

This is Alison, the "female" from Bell Tone... and WOW... I don't know who the person trash talking about us above is, but it appears that they are not someone who we ever did work for. It looks like they were just dissatisfied with an offer we made on a synth they were selling, did some Googling, s...

Re: V/Oct to V/Hertz interface box or in-synth mods... interest?
I think I might just start by making a couple of desktop two channel ones (like the one above, but two channels and a less wacky-looking design) and put them up for sale. I know it's a niche thing, so I know it doesn't make much sense to go Full Production with it.

V/Oct to V/Hertz interface box or in-synth mods... interest?
Hi folks, so I just got done making this 4 channel V/oct to V/hertz converter box for a client using a PCB I designed loosely based on the Korg MS-02. It also has a v-trig/gate to S-trig converter for each channel: http://www.belltonesynthworks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/antilog-done-sm.jpg...

EML-101 and EML-100 V/Oct mod PCBs and kits now available
So I just put the PCB and kit I designed for an ElectroComp EML 101 and EML 100 V/Octave conversion mod up for sale, was doing a Google search to see if it had been indexed yet and found a thread on Muffs from a few years ago where people were talking about wanting such a mod... so I thought I'd pos...

I'm developing a super intense MG-1 upgrade kit that may be "the most" anyone's ever done because it actually adds a second onboard LFO and a second independent CV summer for OSC 2 to make the two oscillators fully independent. So you can have a sequencer play a bass line on Oscillator 1, play chord...

A potentially very cheap way of doing this that would allow you to make a full keyboard's worth of string synth and take care of some of the tedious parts for you (creating 12 oscillators, all those octaves thereof, keyboard building wiring, etc) would be to start with an inexpensive, no-name-brand ...
