OB-6 hands down. Have recently owned: Prophet rev 2 Prophet 6 JD-XA Moog Sub 37 (from the newer stuff) + own/have owned plenty of old analogs/digitals from the lates 70s to the 90s. Of the newer ones NONE of the above were 'there' for me. Closest was the Prophet 6, close but no cigar. It just lacked...

My vote is also for the SH-2, such a great tone with the two vcos (+sub), a richness and fullness I never got with my Sh-101. I wouldn't get another single osc synth to go with the 101, the SH-2 isn't too expensive, it's well built, looks great and does stuff to rival the Minimoog (was called the Ja...

Just for the record, the word is "piqued" not "peaked". If you're gonna say it so much in a thread (everyone) at least use the right word! Anyway, I've had most of the cheaper synths mentioned in this thread including: Prophet 6, polysix, JD-800, D-50, Juno 6,60,106, JX-3P, 8P and MKS 70 (jx10), and...

Taking into account range of useful sound, overall ability, quality of sound, features, reliability and sheer fun/empowerment and new synths... Prophet 6 > Prophet 5(rev2) > Prophet 5(rev3) > Jupiter 8 > OB-6 > Jupiter 6 > Prophet 08 rev2 > prophet 08 original And I'm a big fan of tone first and lov...

Have had a Rev2 (the new prophet 08) and thought it was great for many things, but not really a lot of 'analog duties'. It's more just a great workhorse keyboard that happens to be analog, not digital, but it didn't really stand out or sound worthy as being analog and couldn't compete with my other ...

do you think the OB-6 share this "static" feel? how it scores against the REV2 and Polysix? Well see my edited post above ;) - I do stand by saying the polysix is more organic, as is the PRophet 5 a touch vs the Prophet 6 but really the prophet 6 is much better than either and better than rev2 / pr...

Just to add to the topic, 5 years later. One analog synth I've always disliked the sound of in all but 5% of any sounds I've heard coming from it is the Andromeda A6. I honestly believe its spec, looks and technical prowess act as some kind of placebo to the ears. People want to believe. I know it c...

(EDIT) Was trying to sell my Polysix at the time I wrote this BS. Gone now, and it's a cool synth. But the Prophet 6 (which I now own) is 10 x better and sounds fuggin' awesome, rich, deep, beautiful and can do all the Prophet 5 stuff either virtually identically in many cases or very close in other...

Prophet 6 is a much better synth. I've owned both (Polysix now gone), and I won't knock the polysix, it can still sound a bit more vintage and in unison it sounds kinda 'wow' vs the prophet 6's unison but I don't care, it's a bit too basic and the Prophet 6 is just an amazing synth anyway, better th...

Prophet 6 all the way. Not just better than Polysix but better than any synth I've had and I've had many. It's the best all round modern analog and I prefer it to the prophet 5 too (which it can get very close to on some sounds) as a synthesizer it's just far more usable/useful and fun with the mode...

If you have the money then GO FOR IT! I also had a Sub 37 and ended up selling it. I think it's a beautiful instrument (other than the unforgivably cheap chinese wonky key keybed), looks gorgeous, tons of tricks, nice spec, even a decent price (for moog with that spec). Ultimately the tone didn't qu...

good lord, the p08 sounds awful. If you think it sounds fantastic, there be something wrong with your ears. Better to get yourself a good softsynth than that piece of shit. I've bought and sold lots of gear, but there was no other synth that horrified me so much initially, and didn't grow on me at ...

Hi, not gonna comment on the DM12. I think they tried to give a lot of value, but clearly there's going to be cut corners with cut price. I'm here because of Gear4Music and wanted to say this is an extremely common thing with them (and yeah they will ALWAYS lie about it). I've bought many items from...
