+48 V is for phantom power of condenser microphones. The jack above the XLRs is probably for a separate +48 V power supply.
I figure this as well - i think i have such a cable from the power brick. I don't have a reason to test this theory right now though (no phantom powered microphones)

Re: Help understanding connections (BC-9 mixer)

Some findings since last time: The C subroup out outputs does indeed output a mix of all "C" channels, but it-s PRE fader --> weird to use as send/return I can't get the A/B/C jacks on the B1 channel to make sounds. Maybe they're not inputs? But i think they are If i send a signal to the RETURN jack...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

Good to hear there's a few more recursive machines in the world! Here's a short track with the rm as the only voice. some light fx on the first half, but otherwise 100% rm. I'm controlling it with an 0-Ctrl, and highly recommend the pair. https://soundcloud.com/hovercraft-dc/recursive-dream Ohhh ye...

Help understanding connections (BC-9 mixer)

Eh, so i recently got a mixer called BC9 or BC-9 Broadcast made by a danish company called KS technic or similar. It's fairly old - when i goodled around for a manual i found someone wanting one for a museum or something. Well, i didn't find a manual! So i set about just using it the "common sense" ...

Those of you that have been in this game longer than i - the upgrade price for me from live 10 is ~160$ or so which i'm not so keen about (don't have em). If 12 comes out next year with something i couldnt live without, could i upgrade 10 -> 12? How's support for older versions? Like, will there sti...

Good to hear you got it sent away, hope it works out in a timely manner. (I had to contact schneidersupport twice and they were very nice to deal with. Re: The Disting Effect and new features for digital modules

It always broke my heart when a manufacturer posts about their new firmware update (or even launches their new module, but this doesnt happen as much) and is instantly quoted by someone wanting another feature, or something done differently. Sometimes, modules seem to be almost co-opted, a small tea...

Hah! Yeah, that's massively cool. I especially dig the middle one you posted (BF862). Some sort of transistor?

Re: When gear has lots of features you don't use do you want to downgrade?

In software, yes - getting a job as a programmer has made me sick about computers and as a consequence everything is collecting dust except a 2010 macbook with a broken graphics card. Which doesn't give me much to work with in terms of power, so i generally tend to use things that are as simple as p...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

Expanders can only be controlled from the track they were assigned to, but you can control modular tracks from the FX lanes of an expander track. You can also control those outputs from the normal non-FX lanes of an expander track of you wish. Ah, i get it now! I'd somehow missed the assigning of e...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

Finally took the plunge. I've been on the fence for years, and especially with the release of polyend tracker. Those of you with the expanders, how closely knit are they to the patterns? As in can i address them from the FX lane or so? I think i've seen them accessed from separate screens, but i'd r...

Where are they built? Seems like a rather important factor seeing how other manufacturers are regarded in that aspect.
OP-1 and the PO's were made in china, no reason to believe it's different for this one.

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

So i need to, eventually when things are for sale again, get PCB's from THC, the mouser cart with (almost) all the parts, and then "You'll also need 2 x PT2399, 1 x BDTR-2H, and 33 x potentiometers (Song Huei short, 100k lin)" i guess because they're not at mouser? Is this the kinda game where i sho...

Update: the replacement (or repair?) came back from Andrew at SSF working great out of the box. Didn't even look at the trimmers. Nice wide range for both bipolar and unipolar outputs, as expected. Really a great design.
Does it still eat your trigs?

Re: Would you pay a yearly sub to join a gear lending library?

Most of the big retailers allow returns. So there’s that. You could in effect use them like a library. I don’t think that’s quite the intention though and I’ve never felt comfortable doing that. Am I being daft? Are the rest of you doing this all the time? I’ve never tried doing it say once a month...

Re: Newbie Stereo Question

To add to the above post, this is because the signals are not mixed in the cable. On your image, you can see that the red and white jacks have two metal segments: one at the tip which carries the signal, and one the base (called "sleeve") which is the ground. In the black end, there are three segmen...

Ok so this is kinda a bullshit post but i got the axidraw v3/a3. It's a plotter, which means it's a machine where you can strap in a pen and it can draw lines for you on an A3 paper. Basically it can move the pen to any coordinate and raise/lower it to make contact or not. You pipe SVGs to it and it...

Re: Changing the power switch of a hammond maverick

You need to post a picture of the switch. I am not familiar with the Maverick. I don't think it's tonewheel-based though. Tonewheel hammonds have a start switch for the motor; it has a spring return on it, so you hold it in the Start position for a while, then release it and it stays in the "On" po...

Changing the power switch of a hammond maverick

Ok so this is not really DIY but i figure maybe one of you people can answer my question. I recently destroyed the power switch for my hammond maverick and would like to get a new one.
