Pfft. Guess I'll just set my money on fire.
Or you just buy the bare PCB and source the few parts yourself. Should all be found on Mouser or even Tayda

Re: Best Fixed Filter Bank?

Yeah, you can tap the output either from the FFB output or from the mixer output. I don't think it matters too much which one you choose. I didn't even use a multiple, just a Y-splitter like this one: I was just wondering if it is possible to modify the dotcom ffb to integrate the feedback path int...

Re: Newbie Question - Clocks

To get the clock information from abelton (or any other DAW) to your modular the missing link might be a great option

Re: Poly CV control

If you want to go the DIY route the PolyDAC might be your warpon of choice.

https://www.elby-designs.com/contents/en-us/p92.html

The Elby page shows a 19 inch version but in can be put behind a 3U MOTM panel

I looked at solder paste dispensers but you also need an air compressor for them, what are you using that’s small/quiet/cheap?
This one here makes use of a stepper motor but is a little special in its own

Re: cases for MU in the EU for me

Usually, you just use wooden strips for “rails” One can also use metal threads that screw into the wood strips to extend the life of such rails in case of rearrangement For example like this one https://www.befestigungsfuchs.de/Befestigungstechnik/Muttern/Einschraubmuttern/100-Einschraubmuttern-DIN...

Re: Soldering a crystal, ideas ?

When i build a MIDI/CV converter that employes a PIC and a corresponding crystal i did not solder the crystall at all. Instead i got my hand on a special crystal socket which i soldered to the PCB. Then i cut the legs of the crystal and stuffed it into the socket. It maybe not the most stable soluti...

It is. You can trimm the leads on the LED and stuff them into the connector.

Can you suggest some commonly used sockets and the preferred mounting style? I would guess the PCBs are typically perpendicular to the panel for better strength. Are mounting brackets required? I would use Switchcraft 112A sockets - preferably with solder lugs - and a mounting bracket. The 8pin hea...

A possibilty for a deeper case if you dont mind the assembly could be to order 19 inch case from All Metal Parts along with Rack rails and blind panels. The Downside would be that you have to put your own power supply into it

If one dont mind the hassle to put in a hole for a Switch on the FPD file or later you could make this mod optional for different modes of operation

Your midi-to-clock converter is an excellent project. Great job. But i am also intetsted in the sequencer. Did you make an FPD-File or did you do it yourself?
In case of an FPD i am very interested if you might be willing to share it

Re: polycarbonate

If you use Lexan in a laser it releases toxic gas (phosgene??) that will f-up your lungs and your optics (mirrors). Phosgene is highly unlikly because of no chlorine in Polycarbonate. It should rather be stuff like carbonmoxide and carbondioxide. Sulfurdixoide can be produced by some polycarboates ...
