Re: Claravox theremin

I was listening to the demo, and my wife offered to buy it for me for Christmas. Yay! Put in a pre-order at Sweetwater, with stand of course. Do we know the ETA? In case anyone is wondering (I was) price is 1499$, stand 225$. Not inexpensive, but every day increases in the evidence that life is shor...

Re: New Novation / Aphex Collab Coming Soon ???

It definitely says AFX STATION on the image, so my guess would be something based on the BS2, but with the AFX mode pushed to the fore and more flexible / beat-oriented sequencing added. So basically a Circuit / Circuit Mono Station mashup, retooled for Aphex-friendly activities. Which sounds good ...

Re: What's Your pick for a standalone, sub $300.00 usd, used or new, synth

E-mu MP-7 [etc] can be found for $350ish. 16 channels, 128 voices, lots of modulation, great sequencer, 16 pads and a nice balance of knobs and menu. Great digital filters. Crazy low prices (at the moment). Also, the MP7 is very purple. Hours of goofy fun! With a machine like this, you can RULE THE ...

Thank you for these; they are an excellent example of how "misusing" an instrument creates a new musical perspective of the instrument. Patiently am I waiting for the next run, with an eye on the used market.

This is really helpful, thanks. I will be joining the MIDIBOX community. Saves a bundle over Cirklon....I'm still in line after some three years. But mostly, this offers the features I've been gear lusting for!

Re: A bit of a rant. State of tech in 2020.

Well, I sure as hell don't want to build anything. Cuts into the small bit of time I have to actually play and record. Even modular is beyond my event horizon. That said, I found one the V4 thingies for sale, built. I'd buy it if I had not just picked up the Kodamo. I'm also increasingly leery of th...

Re: A bit of a rant. State of tech in 2020.

Which sequencers allow you to start with a blank pattern, record tracks, then copy the pattern to another location, [all while playing], then switch to the second [copied] version and transpose tracks and add new parts, then chain or set up in a song?

Re: A bit of a rant. State of tech in 2020.

We never really had multimtimbral 'synthesisers' in the 80s/90s, we had workstations many of which could be used for synthesis, but mostly weren't. I had a different experience. I was using a Linn 9000 to sequence a Six track [Six part muti-timbral], a Prophet 600, an MKs 30, an MKS 20, and an Enso...

Re: Erica Synths DB-01 tutorial - part 1

Thanks a million! I've been wondering why there is not more interest in this. You have put the G back in GAS. Looking forward to part 2. I quite enjoy simple synths with simple sequencers. The best multiply potential and possibility to take the creative experience to, as they kids these days say, an...

Re: Using audio in on TR-8s or Digitone, please share your experience

I use the audio ins of the Digitone all the time, and they sound great. Integrate seamlessly into the Logic/Mac Audio MIDI setup. If you are looking to get drum sounds, The Digitakt is a better choice; it offer 8 channels as opposed to the Diigitone's four. [With essentially the same Input hardware/...

Look for an E-my command station. Tons of great sounds plus an excellent sequencer well within your price range used.

Re: The Elektron Model:Cycles Thread

I have a Digitone, etc, and to my mind, the Model:Cycles is very different in sound and programming. What I know about sound programming the Digitone is of no use when it comes to programming the M:C. The sounds are also very different. The lovely layered ambience of the Digitone is thus far on vaca...

Re: Single Synth Albums (or Songs)

There's a new thing by Soulwax(?) – EMS100, all made on the classic synth of which, they tell us, there were only 31 made. They managed unfettered access to one in a museum. Lots of great sounds, I'm so far underwhelmed by the tracks.
