Re: USB Stick Recorder

I had considered the larger versions of the Tascam and Zoom portable recorders, but not the smaller ones... and I have a similar device, the Olympus LS-P4. I guess my "ideal" setup would be to have tape deck -> recorder -> preamp/receiver (so I can record & listen at the same time). Maybe I should j...

USB Stick Recorder

I'm looking for something that will record to a USB stick from TS or RCA inputs, preferably in the < $200 range. I'm aware of the Tascam SD-20M and the Denon DN-500R (and I actually have a DN-500R in my studio), but they are a bit out the price range here. This would be for using in the living room ...

Re: Kraftwerk tour

Have tickets to see them here in San Diego, and looking forward to it. I've tried to see them many times in the past but it has never worked out for one reason or another. But wow, those were some expensive tickets! Second-cheapest tier (cheapest tier was just the back couple rows), and it was $228 ...

Dave Brown / https://modularsynthesis.com/ may be able to help, or point you in the right direction.

Doug Slocum / SSL might have contact with some folks who worked for Cynthia, who may have docs/info that could help.

Is this the original deep through-hole one, or the later shallow SMT version?

Re: Unreleased Richter Designs - Pulse Farm

I'd be interested in a few of these PCBs... A few questions... Is the "clock" jack the "whole note" output? Or did you figure out a nifty way to get an external clock input? I assume that there's DIP switches on the PCBs for the pattern outputs? I notice on your panel designs you omit the '0' positi...

Re: Performance under extreme temperature

Keep it out of the sun as long as possible, and then cover it with a blanket until you play. And try to keep the modules out of direct sun, particularly any with screens.

You should be fine, but that will minimize any potential issues.

Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] synthCube acquires Blacet Research

Licensing rights??? Since when does that matter in the synth world? (Playing Devils advocte here..) Ethics aside, switching formats how is permission need for that in any way? (But please keep it frack!!) Since SynthCube actually acquired the rights to Blacet (and MFOS, etc.), it would seem that th...

Re: R*S - 2 strange behaviours

I'd not spent too much time with the Carnivore, more with the SSG/Random and DUSGs. But I put it in a small boat (along with some other modules) and have taken it on vacation. Just noticed issue #2 - left slope's red output will only trigger the SSG sample in when the oscillator's freq knob is above...

IIRC the two oscillators on the 300 Borg are also the Terry Michaels design. is he still around?
Probably his design, but maybe the original EN version, rather than his later design that Blacet used.

I assume Terry is still around, he'd be 66.

Looking forward to seeing what becomes of this! Will post more when I'm back home and not on my phone, but just want to point out that there may be licensing issues with putting the VCO and MiniWave in other formats. With the VCO it is a bit unclear from Grant's post here: http://search.retrosynth.c...

Add a little bit of fresh solder to what’s already on there, that usually gets it moving for me.
Thank you! I thought about that, but for some reason early on convinced myself that it wouldn't help since there was already a good deal there.

Problem solved!!!

Replacing power jack on Eventide pedal - possible bad repair job

A friend's Eventide TimeFactor had a power inlet jack that was being a bit funny (intermittent connection), so he asked me to fix it. He'd already mucked around with it a bit, rather than just sending it back to Eventide... I have no idea why, because he's sent stuff back to Eventide before & since ...

Hey diophantine, it looks like you've acquired a module I built... the "Pair O Slopes" :-) Maybe the Lockhart wave folder is mine too? Can't tell by the picture. Cool to see them out in the world; I only made a few. Indeed! The Pair-O-Slopes & the Lockhart are your builds! I knew about the Pair-O-S...

Nope - mostly the transformers on the 190, relays on the 165, opamps on the 102, and a few other places on the 148.

But all the magic in these is DSP. No real way to recreate it without that chip/code. I'm sure the hardware is minimal... DSP core + ADCs (audio input + pots) + DACs (audio output)
