My 2021 Cornwall Synthi A just arrived last week. Here is a photo. I'll post some more soon. Ree-Yees has the keys.

Re: EMS Synthi waiting list

Synthi list #5 Super cool! I'm #5 for Synthi A too but just the chassis with BYO Spartanite and due for Oct/Nov. Now for the fun job of sifting through all the info on mods to make sure I get all the right options. Great to see them ripping through the queue now; I was expecting to be on the list f...

Certainly not hifi at the slowest speed if it's anything like my 4400.

Re: Uher 4000 Report Monitor AV

Ooh! 3 heads. That's what I'm missing with my beloved 4400. If you make a few tape loops of different lengths, set monitor to Tape then watch the hours roll by. Foggy brain at the moment but you can also easily set it up as a tape delay on a mixer but you'll need some adapters for those kleine-tuche...

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths

As soon as an instrument purchase becomes a rational decision, you're basically doomed. In my experience, whenever I've "convinced" myself to buy a particular instrument I've usually been disappointed. I was in the same boat with the Syntrx but instead opted to join the EMS waiting list and save up....

Re: Favorite Multitimbral VAs?

Interface-wise the Nords are really hard to beat for multitimbrality, the NL3 clearly being the best in the game. Another one is the Monomachine. 6 channels of VA, SID, FM with individual outputs. Only catch is each part is monophonic (unless you just want 1 tracK) and they're now prohibitively expe...

If someone was serious, I'm happy to try and provide any measurements required, though I'm pretty sure they've been provided in previous threads.

I would feel uncomfortable about disassembly or sending it off though.

Re: EMS Synthi waiting list

BYO Spartanite. That's what I'm doing. sorry I don't have a spare fifty-grand to spend on a mold That is a fair estimate. I would plant my new Synthi in wood or aluminum. Who said I had a spare fifty-grand? I feel like I've said this before but I found mine on Gumtree for $100. If one didn't know t...

Re: EMS Synthi waiting list

Synthis are still being made and sold... I received my Synthi Cornwall today. Wait time was approx 3 years to get from #19 to #1. I supplied my own Spartanite case. Full mods - it's a beauty! That's great news! I'm currently #11 with BYO Spartanite. Sounds like the estimate Robin gave was pretty ac...

Strange that this hasn't generated more interest. €1299 is a bit steep for me personally but it looks like a quality instrument.

Re: Twisted Electrons MEGAfm

That's fantastic news! Completely killed my enthusiasm for it when I heard about that issue. I'm still curious how obtusely noisy this thing really is. Is it possible to do standard, mellow FM pads without copious high frequency noise on top of every patch? I like some noisiness ( I love the FB01's ...

Re: Good synth to pair with a Digitakt?

Blofeld's a good contender for compact and powerful, though when I had one I personally didn't enjoy the interface and I don't normally have a problem with well-designed menu based interfaces. The Audiothingies Micromonsta could be fun, though not multitimbral AFAIK. My favourite option however woul...

Re: Behringer PPG.......

I'm personally nostalgic for a PPG and would of course prefer Waldorf do a clone/reissue with all the original grittiness and limitations of the original. However, failing that a cheaper clone like this would definitely still pique my interest if nobody else attempts it. The big and no doubt intenti...

The D-05's also another going for nearly twice the price. So glad I jumped on mine when it was on clearance! There's so much synth power in that little module beyond the naff presets.

Or.. good luck. It could have failed a lot sooner! True, or it could have happened before I bought it and I would never have known about it because I wouldn't have bought it. Interesting about DSI. They've always been great with aftermarket support. I've found Elektron really useful too. Whic...

Re: Nord Lead General Reliability

Cool, thanks for that. The power board was our main suspect and the tech did find some dry solder joints but nothing else. The only other mention I found of this problem was a Reddit thread where someone was given a free NL2 with corrosion all over the board. I just read about that golden era of cra...

Nord Lead General Reliability

Had a disaster with my favourite workhorse recently. My Nord Lead 2 had developed odd behaviour where it would sporadically fail to boot up properly. After troubleshooting a few common Nord quirks and still not having any luck (OS can get jammed if sending MIDI while booting up etc.) I took it in to...

There is always the 22 Shruti harmonium which attempts to resolve the constraints of the equal-tempered western harmonium. Could be a lot of fun! But probably at the top end of what most people would be comfortable paying for a harmonium.

Re: Pre-built Yocto v1 Thoughts?

Great, thanks folks. I'm aware the 808 is pretty cliche by now but I'd prefer a more straight-up approach than all the bells and whistles of the other clones out there. So the Yocto V1 does sound like it should tick the box. Funny you mention the Nord Drum h4ndcrafted, I'm currently using my NL2 for...

Pre-built Yocto v1 Thoughts?

Not being DIY inclined, I'ver never really paid much attention to these. However one has come up for sale 2nd hand and pre-built and my curiosity was piqued. Aside from the obvious problem of reliability relying on the competency of the builder, is there anything else to be aware of before I jump on...

Originals are still around with a bit of luck and persistence. As mentioned further back, I found my Spartanite on Gumtree for $100. Fortunately it was misspelt as Spartinite.
