Re: Disapointing Modules

I'm kinda in the same boat re-disting. I've had the MK4 for a few years now, and while its cool and can be helpful, i've found myself replacing a lot of its functionality with single purpose modules and being much happier with that. I think that is the point of the Distings. If you find yourself al...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

My guess is the Mimeophon will become a Eurorack staple, warts and all, albeit, more like pimples and all. The verb itself is worth at least half the price of admission. I'd be surprised if ModularGrid doesn't have it in its top 5, 5 years down the road. At that point, MN will be able to brag about ...

It’s a fuckin’ great module, Mimeophon. My only wish is that Skew would stay lit between power cycles since I have to explicitly remember to activate it and when I’ve had a few beers it’s not always that easy without a Post-It note or similar.

Re: Are Powered Cases Too Expensive?

My takeaway from this is: eurorack cases are complex and niche enough that they benefit from neighter simple, cheap components nor economies of scale. But for the folks arguing about Behringer: just because behringer is charging a lot doesn't mean they're expensive to manufacture. I wouldn't put it...

Re: Are Powered Cases Too Expensive?

I don't know if it's worth trying to answer the original question, but: The market is tiny. That means there aren't many economies of scale and all development and overhead costs need to be split among far fewer sales. A powered Eurorack case has basically the same parts as a briefcase plus a lapto...

Re: Are Powered Cases Too Expensive?

My take on all this is a lack of economies of scale due to low demand and erratic supply due to smaller size manufacturers. We have to remember that modular synthesis is still a niche market even though to us participants, it doesn't necessarily seem that way. I can't remember how much time I've wai...

Re: New Akemies Taiko - ALM Busy Circuits

I'm curious with other owners, do you get a consistent pitch out of Akemies Taiko? I find it's always wavering - even with nothing plugged and just triggering it and that's it. This is my 2nd Akemie's Taiko as I love the sound but it frustrates me when I try and do something less erratic and want t...

Re: Announcing ALM017 - Pamela's NEW Workout

The Logic can get really messy and complicated since it borrows from other channels.. Really wish it would work individually for each channel, because often you "break" some other channel (that you had a cool groove on for example) when messing with it. Changing things like Modifier on a channel wh...

Re: Intellijel Quadrax

Looking for bit a of advice, I currently use a quadra in my techno rack and its job is to do envelopes A/D for the LXD make noise LPG, a filter envelope and modulation on my DPO. I tend to vary the envelopes from short percussion snaps to longer ones and tweak them all the time. I also find myself ...

Bumping this excellent thread with a fresh video. One take improvised cinematic ambient piece, with mandolin loops recorded onto Morphagene. It really can do so much magic with the right source material.

I enjoyed your piece. Thanks!

Re: Favorite Smoothed Random

Pamela's New Workout (only just recently added) and Quadrax have good smooth random functions that work for me. How does Pam's handle smooth random? Does it still follow a clock like all the other output types? It will either follow a clock if slaved or impose its own clock if the master, but yes, ...

Re: Did I misinterpret the PNW Quant function?

Yes and No. So here's a sneaky little hack for running any external CV through the quantizer. 1. Take any channel, set the wave type to any regular wave, set the multiplier to anything 2. Long press and select 'level', set it to CV1 or CV2 and set your desired scale. Long press again to exit 3. Bac...

Krell-inspired patch, quantized to three semitones. Plaits and Filter8 knock into each other in the pub and start to duke it out while Blinds reluctantly jumps in to referee. Maths and Ochd are already several pints in, while on the other side of the room, o_c Hemisphere's in linked ASR mode is bar...

This is one of the reasons I bought the SMR, but I could never get this working with multiple VCO's, they always sounded awful together, this included when I tuned them to the SMR sine outputs described in the manual Turned out to be a massive chore and frustration for me trying to get this to work...

Re: Announcing ALM017 - Pamela's NEW Workout

It is my personal belief that few people in the eurorack community are yearning for modules that doesn't remember settings. The opposite seems to be the case; people are often asking if a module will keep the settings because not being able to save a patch for another day sucks. This is the first t...
