So can you make music with anything?

This is an experiment in how malleable sound is today with the use of digital processing. You hear the source content briefly at the start, noise and hum coming from a dying soundcard. That sound is split into narrow bands using a filter bank and each band is then processed differently. As there was...

Free Experimental "Mumuration"

Murmuration is a term applied to flocks of European Starlings that swarm in the autumn/ winter in great swirling masses before rooting. This is often seen on marshland over reed beds and there can be 100,000 birds in the flock. After twisting to and fro the birds suddenly dip into the reeds and disa...

Ambient & Experimnetal Compilation album

The FB group "Ambient and Experimental Music Community" have just released another compilation album on Bandcamp. The challenge for this one was to create a track exactly 1 minute long.

Re: MC-101 Questions

Good to see this thread. I'm wondering if the MC101 is the answer to what I was looking for. I have a Digitakt and I really enjoy it but I wanted to be able to playback the samples polyphonically. I have the Retrokits cable but have not been able to get it working with a standard keyboard so I just ...

Free Pastoral Ambient EP

I’ve just released a new free download EP on Bandcamp. It’s sort of pastoral ambient, celebrating and reflecting on fascination with the landscape, nature and atmosphere of lakes I have visited here and abroad, particularly during my childhood in the 60s and 70s. There is something special about the...

Pastoral ambient

At last the first track from my forthcoming EP is out on Spotify. “Where land meets water” celebrates my fascination with the landscape, nature and atmosphere of lakes I have visited here and abroad, particularly during my childhood in the 60s and 70s. There is something special about them, not just...

Free Wiard 300 Series, Frac & EMS VCS3 album.

As I'm starting to release music on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music etc, I decided to make a few tweaks to the tracks on my 2019 modular album, change the artwork, add a pdf for liner notes and repost it for free on Bandcamp. The tracks were created on a Frac modular (mainly Blacet), a Wiard 300 series...

well this is out there... Healer celebration dance of the Oxfordian highlands indigenous people Recorded in April 2020 during the UKs lockdown in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. I have the old Korg DVP MIDI controlled rack which doesn’t sound bad but I wish it would give you different waveforms or at least an external input. I have one of those. I rarely use it but when I do I use it in the vocal synth mode - it sounds vaguely like the Logan Vocalist. I use the solo female...

Too late for Halloween?

As I've just turned 60 I decided to make some of my albums now a free download. First up, "Creeping Shadows" from 2017. With titles like "Brood Chamber" "Into the Zone", "Quatermass & the Creeping Shadows" it's a set of dark ambient tracks. Apart from "Brood Chamber" most of the music was realized o...

chamomileshark, a to me very pleasing and giving way to experiment with Drums and more so "electronic Percussives" is to just setup *super simple* beats and then create the rest over using FX. Mainly Delays. A nifty Delay on the master, or delays per sound, or anything inbetween. i more and more ex...

ok, I just tried plugging in to the inputs on the front with the jacks. At a tiny bit above the level I get continuous green lights it distorts. I thought I'd try a slightly different level from the synth, but before I changed anything and simply hit play on the synths sequencer it just went crazy a...

hi, good suggestion. I turned off the mixer and computer, sent the line out of the synth into the 6i6 and then monitored via the headphone jack. Anything above 9 o'clock on the OB6 volume it distorts. It seems to have a very short travel to go from too quiet to distortion. I'll see later whether one...

hi, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure how to do that? I'm not very confident with these things. I think I might have found a way to simplify this. I've connected the synth directly to the Scarlett 6i6 line in 3&4 and so have taken the analogue mixer largely out of the equation ( I think). So I'm at...

Distortion a sign of interface failure?

hi, I've got an e-mail into Focusrite re my 1st generation Scarlett 6i6 (see below) but have just discovered the problem I was originally trying to sort is now back. I have my OB 6 going into a Soundcraft signature 12 line in. The master out goes to my 6i6, the aux out goes to my monitors. I've noti...

I feel a bit bad that I'd previously got the CMI and Synclavier. I know the Synclavier is probably ok given Cameron's involvement. Less sure about the CMI.

I've provided some simple audio demos of the VCS3 on the KvR forum as most people don't have access to one. Aside from the whole thing of their dealings with Robin, I think if you are going to trade on the cache of an icon they could have done a better job. SIAC (Reaktor ensemble) sounds to me more ...

Now out https://www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/synthi-v/overview Just watched the videos and listened to the sound demos and I have to say it has absolutely nailed the sound of an Arturia software synth. Listened to the Mellotron and that sounds nothing like any Mellotron I've heard either...
