Re: EFG Deluxe troubleshooting

I’m embarrassed and at the same time happy to say that I found two more unsoldered pads - pin 15 and 16 on U5. The EFG is now working. Sorry for taking your time, these things happens when I rush a build :)
Thanks for the support

Re: EFG Deluxe troubleshooting

I found one more thing,
if I connect power when SLEW SPEED pot is on max the FOLLOW led gets lit, but dimmed. Now, if I turn SLEW SPEED counter clockwise the led suddenly jumps to bright light. If I turn the SLEW SPEED clockwise again, nothing changes - the led stays bright.

Re: EFG Deluxe troubleshooting

So this is the measurements,
U3 pin 14: 12V
U4 pin 1: 13,6V

I run a sawtooth in SLEW IN and there is no signal at SLEW OUT, no matter how I turn the slew speed.

There is clearly something wrong here... ;)

Re: EFG Deluxe troubleshooting

Thanks,
I found that I had missed to solder one of the pads on R25. After fixing this, the GATE is working, but now the FOLLOW led is on permanently. I checked all your suggested failure points but everything looks good. I also replaced U3 but still the same problem.

EFG Deluxe troubleshooting

Hi! Testing out my newborn EFG Deluxe and ran into som trouble. First thing I see when connecting power only is that GATE led is on constantly. The preamp seems to be working, both x1 and x10 gain works, volume works and PEAK led is working as it should. GATE out is sending signal constantly, as is ...

EFG Deluxe BAT42 substitute

I accidentally ordered surface mounted BAT42s for the EFG Deluxe  Is it ok to substitute these with BAT48s ?

i dont think the 3080 is part of the lower folder, so might not be the issue in this case. you should be able to check the amplitude at each stage, and see if it gets attenuated at one in particular. You are right, I see that now when looking at the schematic. In my case my problem went away today ...

CGS113 wave multipliers, faulty or normal behaviour?(solved)

Hi all! I recently built the Serge wave multipliers using the CGS113 pcb v1.1. The lower section has very low output, significantly lower than the output straight out of my Oakley VCO. It is also very sensitive to audio input level, and cv input level. It seems to only work with very low level input...

Dynacord DRP 20 Midi problem

Hi all! I'm an owner of a white faced Dynacord DRP 20 with Firmware version 2.2. I'ts a great vintage reverb with a big sound and I'm using it mostly for real time synthesizer performaces. Because of this I recently started looking up its Midi capabilities and to my dissapointment there seems to sev...

I have checked the things wrote and everything seems to be in order. The interaction I see is minor so I'm sure it is normal.
Thank you for your help and fast reply Tony!

Dual LFO leds

Hi! On my dual-lfo the two leds are affecting each other; when only one is on the light is strong and when both are on at the same time the light gets dimmed on both. Is this normal? I’m guessing it has something to do with the power rails? Other than this, the module is fully working.

So I replaced U1 and U2 and the module is back to its former glory! Guess I need to be more careful in the future(and keep my workbench clean)!

Thanks again Tony!

I did the mod and it was successful :) - the led respons was perfect, but after replacing the led a few more times to try different colours, unfortunately it suddenly kept emitting light constantly no matter if there was a gate signal present or not. I also noticed a hint of burned smell and that U1...

as usual, thanks for the fast and informative answer :)

Mine is issue 4 and I see what you mean when looking at the schematic.

Would it be possible for me to take a look at the schematic of the current driver circuit? Maybe I could build the circuit on a protoboard and just add it to the pcb.

ADSR/VCA led responsiveness

When replacing the green led with a red(for pure esthetic reasons only...) I noticed that the led does not respond perfectly to the envelope. It is noticable when having long release times, the led stops emitting light abruptly, before the sound stops. I guess it has been like this from the beginnin...

It was a faulty LM13700 causing my problem, as you suspected.
In my case it was a 78ZHR04E3 LM13700N. I don't know if its specs are off or if it is actually broken, but after replacing it with a 73ZKC24E3 LM13700N everything works as it should!

Thanks again for the clarification and help! :tu:

Also, the off trimpot affects the VCA OUT level - turning it clockwise (while calibrating the VCA output) raises the level.

ADSR/VCA "OFF" trimpot

What exactly is this trimpot suppose to do? When doing the calibration, turning the trimpot gives a slight increase/decrease of the volume of the square wave. Fully clockwise is low and fully cc is high. At no point the volume goes near zero. Nor does it change the timbre of the sound. Is this the c...

ADSR/VCA problem(Solved)

I just finished building the ADSR/VCA and having problem with the VCA. The output just gives a steady voltage, it doesn't get affected by triggers or the adsr. If I send audio to the VCA input, the VCA output sends the same signal out unaffected. The ADSR out seems to work the way it should, control...

For me its all about ergonomics and looks - I'm pretty physical when I play and like the big knobs and space of 5u. And it just looks som much more awsome than 3u, it gets me inspired to play :)
