Last night I began my journey to DIY a serious video synthesis station. I built my first module, a elby design/in fritz 5 pulser, as I believe that wave shapers are one of the best tools for video synthesis. Its not perfect and well it does preserve sync I noticed every few minutes it would jump a b...

$5K later ...... I can see it. I spent 1100 with 600 in tools and 500 on a mouser order setting up my next 20 projects. But I did save 200 bucks by repairing glasses from my glasses graveyard and given the rate I break them.... The tools are going to pay for themselves. I got at least 300 dol...

I just got started in DIY. Finished my first moduel a few hours ago (5-pulser). So take this for what its worth: I got into DIY because of my experiences (or lack of) in college. I went to a school without an EE program and so I only got a brief look at electronics in physics labs (I studied CS). It...

You could do a lot with an envelop and a vca if you are enjoying using your modules untradionally. I think blinds could be useful as its a voltage controlled attenuverter but also a dc offset which would let you push the batumi further into audio range (it alised abovex 2k I believd but in divide mo...

I got an ep360 as my starting case. Very high quality but the power supply is switching and in my house it causes a constant buzzing that pisses off my girlfriend. I wish I had of got the ep420 in some respects as I will fill my ep360 in a year but if you have any intention of having a portable rig ...

I play piano a lot (3-5 hours easy a day) but I need frequent breaks many of which I play with my modular. My modular is just for fun though and I use plugins when theres money involved. If it was me I would get a small case and stick an Altanis or a Manther Growl in it. I would put the 0-coast as a strong number 3. Classic architecture with the ability to expand into a monster on the first 2. The 0-coast use the most interesting design certainly. The engineers at Intellijel really ...

Its very fun to sequence with and pretty powerful. Easy to make a beautiful sequence and make something completely different with the Brownian playback.

My biggest problem is I like too many modes too much.

What is the practical application of phase modulation? Can you create a certain kind of sound? And how do most people use this module? Genuinely interested. Thanks My modules on the way so take that into account: Phase modulation appeals to me as a way to add harmonics to a signal in a more intuiti...

I would say any oscillator would do but I would prefer one with lots of control over the harmonic content. Feed that into a lower pole filter with some overdrive/feedback and you have it. I think a complex oscillator or something like a rubicon/Dixie/waveshaper into a filter with some overdrive lik...

In the comparison thread I had the dpo as second behind the rubicon dixie ufold setup. I am waiting for rubicon 2 so I cant comment first hand but I think my rubicon 2 Dixie 2+ combo with a wave shaper or two will be killer and more "modular." I have not enjoyed the furtthhher (or whatever) and the ...

I never could find a mono 3.5mm (or quarter inch) to dual rca converter that worked the way I wanted. For a stereo output though I see no reason it would cause a problem though to be 100% safe you will want to check what kind of input your headphone amp expects and see if your modular level signal f...

When I saw your name was SunRa I figured you had to be independent thinking: Not all digital modules are high quality (neitber are analog ones) obviously. how to get four layers of color? When you use the key threshold at around 50 percent with the rgb negative you are able to get an additional layer dependent on the first. I dont think I was too clear. The vidiot can recieve video signal over an rca cable. You can route that to the lumonisty manipulation portion of the device and/or the color keying portion of the device. This allows you to do some crazy manipulation involving the oscillators in the device or the ones...
