I'm bouncing this thread because there are some new developments with re-issues and clones of chips. Amsynth now has the OBXa filter listed under "Future modules" section of the website. The design is based around the AS3320 chip clone modeled after the CEM3320. Hope it sees the light of day! At lea...

Recommendations for Eurorack to spice up rhythm of SQ1

Greetings wigglers!
Which euro modules do you use in conjunction with your SQ-1 to expand its usefulness and to generate more variable rhythms? Can you recommend any cheaper modules that work well with it?
Thanks in advance!

STG Sea Devils is now skiff-friendly, SMT, and I think readily available in some stores; anyone have a new shiny mkii and can comment on sound? I also think FCUK just finished a diode ladder DIY design based on Roland System 700 and I imagine a production model will enter the market in the not-so-di...

In my 6U at the moment I have several mixers built into other modules and one standalone (cp3 mixer from Manhattan Analog). The Micromac has a built in 3 channel vco mixer, my two Amsynth IR3109 style filters each have 3 channel audio mixers and 2 channel cv mixers, my MA35 has two audio channels th...

I'm happy to report back six months later with basically the same update. I switched to CV Toolkit and cannot be happier thus far. I was using my ES-4 with SW but CV Toolkit has a UI that makes more sense to me and I don't have to muck around with routing in my DAW anymore. Now I'm doing duophonic p...

Passive modules in 5U

Hi all, I'm wondering if there is a relatively comprehensive list of passive 5U modules anywhere? If not, what 5U passive modules are out there? I'm mainly needing some attenuation, but am also interested in other possible functions as long as they do not require power (e.g. some ring mods). I don't...

I was digging around trying to find the link to the discussion but can't seem to locate it. So wait, the Pulplogic Mainframe 3U+1U does not exactly fit into 4U in a regular 19" studio rack? Or am I not understanding correctly? I ask because I have a plan to imminently combine a row of 5U, 3U+1U into...

I think I read somewhere that the Intellijel 1U rails are not compatible with Pulplogic/Synthrotek/erthenvar...or vice versa; anyone have any more info on this, or can confirm/clarify?

It's unlikely but I really wish one of these lovely lunchbox-style mini cases would grow just a wee like to 60hp so I can squeeze the Micromac into its own small case and just expand with attenuators, S/h, and VCAs. Maybe NAMM might have a surprise or two... I hope!

This keyboard/case solution looks so slick... the it should! HOWEVER Right now the Super 37 is going for $1000 at Control in Brooklyn, which tells me this thing is going to be outright cost prohibitive with 3u of 100ish hp for over a grand. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised but I'm not keeping m...

Though I would imagine you would likely be patching to external attenuators and VCAs before hitting the other voice module, but if you kept all the utility stuff to the right as well it would keep the knobby controls clear of spaghetti.

Speaking of jack field, I would have either preferred original version with separate module for jack field (to choose whether it is placed on right or left side) Is this possible with the reissue SEMs? I've been using mine a lot next to the Mother 32, and would prefer them in a SEM behind the Mothe...

Good to see more designs like SEM Plus avoid spaghetti clusters over controls by moving jack field away from the knobs. Overall this is a better ergonomic design, tho the trade-off is that jacks are off to the side so signal flow is harder to envisage. Speaking of jack field, I would have either pre...

I definitely get lush warm vintage analog synth sounds...mono, poly, percussion, etc. with carefully selected modules. Not 100% exactly like any one particular synth but super lush, fat, warm vintage sounds through and through. Listen here, 100% sounds come from Roland-inspired arrangement of module...

I'm thinking of replacing my CA3080e -based Doepfer VCA for the Roland dual VCA. Given that the Roland proprietary chip used in a lot of Roland synths - the BA662a -is obsolete, and now the CA3080e is discontinued as well, what did Malekko use for replacement? I'm guessing...LM13700? Or perhaps BA61...

Have no advice about the VCO

BUT the Doepfer A131 (CA3080 version, anyway) sounds much better with upgraded opamp... I swapped mine with LME 49740 which drastically improved headroom and sound fidelity.

I have the impression that the filter in the Jupiter 6 sounds a bit different from what I hear in your demo... but I might be mistaken/confused (and I could not play the Jupiter 6 these days, since it recently broke :waah:). really great sounds. do you prefer this filter to 8109? Tough question! The AMsynth 8109 is one giant sweet spot compared to the 8060! It's really smooth and buttery while I find the 8060 to be more versatile and a little harder to tame (more aggressive resonance). Both sound amazing and full of ch...
