Re: Today my small discovery was...

Running 2 outputs of Mimetic Digitalis through Compare 2 is a great way of producing all sorts of rhythms. I took all of the outputs of compare 2 but the nots and used them to open various envelopes+VCAs, LPGs, etc. All of those were fed with various outputs from Cs-L, sometimes through filters or o...

Re: FX AID - multi audio effect module

I pulled mine off with my fingers too. Pinch your fingertips under the bottom of the knob. It's kinda painful but the leverage from doing that will scoot the knob up a tiny bit and then it will be easier to pull off.

Re: Hemisphere for Ornament and Crime: Logarhythm Branch

Those changes to ShiftRegister are nice. There's not nearly enough turing machine type modules that have a reset. Mimetic Sequent is the only one that comes to mind.

Re: Sooooo frustrated with threaded strips

I think any downsides to sliding nuts are made up by the ease of rearranging. Being able to just loosen the screws a bit and slide stuff around has saved me so much time vs having to remove every single module and put them back.

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

What I would really like — maybe there’s a module out there already — is a switch like Branches but with one gate input and, say, five outputs, with random selection between them. Maybe it would recognize how many outs were plugged in, or there would be a dial or something. Seems like something tha...

Re: Turing Machine vs Permutation vs Marbles

Man this thread is making me want to put Marbles back in the rack. Another option you might consider is Stages. qiemem's alternate firmware adds a 4th segment type for randomness. Each segment can be smooth random, a turing machine, or logistic map (chaos). Combined with all of the other things Stag...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

Yeah, the only time I really heard noise from mine was a gain staging problem. I've never had the pops and clicks but I just haven't been using those features on material that would be susceptible. Also I wouldn't really characterize MN's attitude towards this as calling it a feature rather than a ...

Re: Turing Machine vs Permutation vs Marbles

I prefer Permutation (12 hp, btw) to marbles, personally. I just think marbles is doing too much. I also like permutation's bit gate outs more than T1 and T3 on marbles. Not sure I can articulate why though. There's not much difference between a turing machine and a permutation. Some of the turing m...

That's what I would expect, as a user. Honestly everything seemed a lot simpler without attenuation :omg:

Re: [SPLIT] Alternative Firmware(s) for Mutable Instruments Stages

It could maybe work like Mimetic Sequent, which only saves when the sequence is locked. It's not that important though. You should probably put the attentuation on yellow segments on the looping segment rather than the default, otherwise the behavior of the segment will change in a weird way when th...

Zlob Entropy: S&H/T&H, white/pink/brown noise, smooth random, 3HP, $100, or less for DIY (easy through-hole soldering) There is now an equally feature-packed expander that I havn't tried yet This. I have it with the expander and you get random s&h/t&h with slew, smooth random, comparator/random gat...

Re: Filters not oscillators, whats the deal?

I was curious about this so I tried it with morgasmatron, polaris, and filter 8. First off, I was surprised at how long the first two took to get even close to stable pitch. I wish I had started a timer but I turned on my system, tuned morgasmatron to C3 with a tuner and, by the time the rise in pit...

Re: ADDAC603 VC Triple Bandpass Filter

I have no idea if this is the kind of demo anyone wants to hear but here's a bit of genesis from an audio bible, played from er-301 into the 603 with nothing else. There's a bunch of self modulation, and some more from ochd, and later I wiggle things a bit. There's some weird sounds lol. http://home...

I completely forgot about that one, thanks for the reminder. I even have it in my bookmarks lmao. If you're making a reel from multiple files, rather than chopping up one file, that link is probably the most convenient option, for sure.

Oh and, you have to use very specific software for the editing of markers too. (Reaper, which costs 60 bucks) No you don't, I don't know why people keep repeating this. It uses wav markers that are really common across the industry. There are a couple of free options for windows that probably run i...

Re: ADDAC603 VC Triple Bandpass Filter

Overall, the 603 is a complete killer module. I love fixed filter banks, but the ones with individual VCA's and outputs are generally big and expensive. The 603 is only three BP filters, but you get a lot of parameters for each filter--so it covers a lot of ground. With a module like the Tetrapad t...

Re: ADDAC603 VC Triple Bandpass Filter

So somehow it seems like it fixed itself. I was doing more thorough testing before sending them a video and the problem stopped. I think it stopped after I plugged something into the filter 1 input for the first time so maybe there was some little bit of conductive whatsit stuck in the jack socket. ...

Re: ADDAC603 VC Triple Bandpass Filter

The QA on these things must not be great since out of the handful of people posting in this thread, 3 of us have had problems. I don't have the massively distorted filter, my #2 filter seems to have some sort of feedback loop in it - it squeals even with every control fully CCW except level. The pit...

Re: [SPLIT] Alternative Firmware(s) for Mutable Instruments Stages

A non-gated, non-looping yellow section is already an offset and offset/attentuation doesn't really "feel" related to what green sections do imo. We should probably avoid cramming features into every gap in the UI. I can't deny that it would be useful though. Honestly, it might be a better conceptua...

Re: FX AID - multi audio effect module

I think Igorr said he was having trouble getting the T18 shaft parts. I'm glad my 4hp FX AID was pre-d shaft because I was able to stick on some befaco mini knobs, which pretty much solved the finger space issue for me (I guess I have small fingers?). I've been looking around for good small knobs fo...

That video was the final straw that led to me buying a Cs-L. I've always liked using multiple outputs of an oscillator for different purposes and that takes it further than I've ever done.

Shapeshifter should make a pretty good comb effect, but I've never actually used it that way on an external signal. Maybe I should give it a go.
