Re: What modules would you suggest (beginner build)

The good news is you have space in your rack to grow and experiment. All of this is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt! For the utilities, I have Kinks and some 2HP modules - DIV clock divider, LOGIC, TM turing mach. and RND random. I just got a sequential switch that has been fun to m...

Re: best eurorack distortion modules?

Any love for the Erica Plasma Drive in the distortion area? I don't have one but it sounds very interesting. I recently got one and am liking it a lot. I'm still learning, so far I've been happy. I'm a knob-turning kinda guy, having a lot of fun. So far I'm using the suboctave out from the fusion V...

Octasource and Phase CV question

Hi, all. I just got an Octasource and was experimenting. I really like it a lot. But I have a question about the Phase CV. The manual says: Apply CV to control phase shift of the LFO wave on each of the outputs! If CV is 0V, all waves are shifted evenly by 45 degrees. CV controls phase shift within ...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

Music is a strange thing. I grew up in the 60's, we had tons of weird stuff that I listened to once or twice, then moved on. Not everyone is gonna like everything. Just enjoy. I had friends that listened to stuff like Frank Zappa and Yoko Ono. Not my cup of tea, but its no skin off my nose what othe...

Re: Patch cord color - Do your patches follow a system?

I'm kinda OCD, so here is what I generally do: Green = clocks Red = triggers Yellow = cv/pitch Blue = modulation When the noise is getting near to the end of the chain, I use red, green, blue, and yellow for each voice into the quad VCA and then into the mixer. I have other cables that are purple, b...

Re:

Always thought the best approach would be AFTER developing a great complex patch, total spaghetti dinner, you'd shoot a video dismantling that patch, then play in reverse - would look like genius revealed. Yes, I love the ones with a little kid playing with a Rubic's cube in reverse, in high speed....

Re: How do you arrange your modules?

I just went from 6U 84 to 6U 104 and tried to put some thought into getting organized. I've setup the two rows kind of the same, with VCO, VCF, Env, LFO, VCA, and effects. Utility modules are kinda scattered. Some of my new modules are in transit or back ordered, but the final result will be coming ...

Re: Video game controller for CV

Thanks to all for your input. I'm thinking about giving this a try, since I already have the pi and controller. I'll get a couple DACs and see what I can do. I've done a few things with I2C for a robot I'm working on. So its a small gamble, with mostly my time.

Video game controller for CV

Hi, all! Forgive me, this is probably going to ramble a bit. I've been playing with Raspberry Pi, robotics, etc. and was able to use a Sony Playstation game controller to connect to the Raspberry Pi. The controller is BlueTooth, and I've already been able to run the demos and see the controller inpu...

Re: Erica Synths Fusion VCO V2

This is on the way, expected delivery today, but with the covid crud may be Monday. I have the Delay/Flanger Ensemble I want to pair it with to see what kind of funky sounds (?noise) I can make. I will let you know. I've had a lot of fun with the Delay today, expecting more fun soon.

The OCD part of me spends way too much time rearranging the furniture on ModularGrid trying to get things just right. But there is no just right. I’ve come to the conclusion that my rack will probably just continue to morph as time goes by.

I first started this addiction about six months ago when I stumbled into VCV Rack by accident. That lead me to flx's great Modular Synth Basics tutorials. Thank you flx! It seemed to me that Eurorack was somewhat affordable and there are a lot of new modules to lust for all the time. I'm not sure if...

I prefer the coarse and fine knobs. I also like the Dixie II haves the lfo/Vco switch. I use the ext in on the z3000 to detune other VCOs, pretty easy.

Edit autocomplete put Vicodin instead of VCO :hihi:
