Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

try with a TRS cable type A This was the solution. I just ordered a Type A adapter and it worked :) Instant sync over MIDI. I got mine from pusherman, Type A adapters are surprisingly hard to find! Type A cables are available at all the usual places: https://schneidersladen.de/de/make-noise-midi-ad...

Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

fyi Arturia & Novation minijacks - aka "Type B" - lost the 3.5m TRS MIDI standard battle: You say that, but when I look at the gear I have, it's all type B, so that's, like, just your opinion, man. I don't intend to get drawn into silly console wars style arguments, but feel like this is quite a si...

Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

It should work, I am using a standard size Arduino with USB Host adapter with my Akai MPK (which is also not working via USB), works a treat! But be warned, the MIDI to TRS adapters seem to vary, the ones that came with my Arturia BSP are reversed and do not work! Tip and ring are swapped, had to b...

Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

Ok, I dug deeper through the manual and answered my own question in the Recording section. I think I'm going to add this to my system after over a year without a "battleship" sequencer. I was holding out for the Erica Black Sequencer, but I think I'll go with this instead. Now to try and find a bui...

$10 USB MIDI Host (for MIDI controllers)

A lot of us still have devices that only have MIDI DIN connectors, yet many MIDI controllers these days only have USB connectors. There are some decent professional USB MIDI hosts that are currently available, but they're kind of expensive. Here's a DIY version that costs about $10-15 via eBay: http...

Sorry synthcube, lemme try this again with a clear head: I have no objections to using all 1%.

That's what I get for posting and simultaneously refreshing election results. yeesh.

Re: update on Blacet kits migration to synthCube

Please put in the effort and retain the 1% resistors that John specified. I just looked through the following schematics for my modules: LFO2430 EG2070 VCA2100 FF2310 VCO2100 Most of the time if a 1% has been specified, it's for very good reason, eg. specific output & amplification levels, adsr timi...

Wonderful! I suspect Cosey Fanni Tutti appreciated the opportunity to dive into this depth and darkness. I imagine it was also a transformative experience.

Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths

Once upon a time when I used to repair synths professionally, there were times when my synth-hospital was jammed with patients. This particular Xpander (see below) needed a new CEM3374 dual-vco and the OB-Xa needed a CEM3340 (thanks Doug!). Having them side-by-side was a revealing experience because...

Re: [AVAILABLE] Blacet VCO2100 + build thread

Fun fact: Blacet shipped many of these VCO DIY pcbs with all the resistors already stuffed (but not soldered).

My guess was that there was a non-insignificant amount of build issues due to incorrect resistor placement.

Livid CNTRL:R firmware?

I just bought a Livid CNTRL:R: does anybody have the latest firmware, v1.27? It used to be here: http://lividinstruments.com/dl/firmware/cntrlr_127.hex.zip ...but the website keeps going down, the contact form is broken and the forum registration doesn't work. No luck with archive.org or elsewhere. ...

Re: Bi-N-Tic Build Options

IRC CLKO is the output of the VCO - which as you say drives the 4024. I know there are a few versions of this PCB now (the CGS one) and the latest has 'CLKO' as a buffered output. I built one with a switch and extra outputs (and 2 pots for bandwidth) Probably noob question but I'm wondering why two...

Re: Moog Memorymoog sucessfully cloned

Speaking as someone who professionally repaired vintage polysynths, please relocate the battery away from any pcb. They're ticking time bombs and if/when they leak, unleash a cancer that eats traces on the pcb - even after replacing and cleaning (eg. Polysix).

In any case, fabulous work!

Re: The modules that should exist (but don't)

Quantized clock-sync'd muter. Can record and playback mute/unmute sequences. Use case: you want to mute/unmute a channel (audio/cv/gate) in n-measures. This lets you bring sequences and sounds in and out in perfect time, eg. mute channel 1 is set to toggle after 2 measures - press mute button 1 and ...

What about a deluxe version like this?

I wrote up specifications (data model, schematics, specifications, etc.) and ordered components for this about 5 years ago but never got around to finishing it.

PM me if you want to discuss this. Yours for the taking for free! I'd be happy just to see it exist.

It's a good idea but looking at the available modules on the software there is no way to switch between the two tracks. You could also take out the Performer's DC-DC converter and instead feed it 5V from your Make Noise 5V rail.
