Mellowness is in the envelope and filter settings, playing style, and fx (reverb delay chorus eq etc). If it has a low pass filter and an attack knob it’ll do mellow.

Been using a space pedal for years. Up until the last year it sat on one of my FX sends. I’ve downgraded and changed my setup and workflow to mix in the box so it’s been seeing a lot less use lately. I love the way it sounds, I hate that I can’t sell it because it’s such a great live setup and sound...

Give that beats one more try but run it through a crappy practice amp. Another +1for volca sample. It has a very analogue feel and is capable of just about anything you can come up with. Very limited pattern memory tho

Machinedrum or daw> midi> cv Squarp mpc the mutable midi interface does this too. There are so many solutions to your deficit here, what really drives me insane is all y'all that insist on having the thing that does the thing be in your synth rack. WHY??? Get some drum breaks, look for the jungle warfare and datafile sample sets from zeroG
All that dogohn stuff sounds like jungle warfare breaks chopped up to me. Once you get going you'll see it's not as hard as it seems

I can't really explain the academic rhythm stuff, it all made sense when I started using drum breaks and 4 -8 bar pattern lengths and trying to make drum and bass and footwork. Having something like an mpc to hit the pads helps but you can still do it on md, just not as fun

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, being self taught. It's not polyrhythm, it's poly meter, but if you have an even and an odd you'll get those in between steps, try playing with swing too. Keep experimenting and when you find the happy accidents go into analysis mode

Last step means you're setting the length of the pattern, try playing with pattern lengths on yr md, have it making some weird rhythms and noises while yr Miami is hitting a 4/4 electro beat. Look up the drum beat tutorials by attack magazine. They are meant for ableton but you can translate 90% int...

Knobs that change into an attenuator when you plug a cable into its corresponding cv jack and lose the offset originally provided by the knob. Great now I have to patch in an offset and mix it with the original cv source. Why this doesn't bother people more is beyond me. I suppose it's just people e...

Leave carrier v/oct un patched so it's a static frequency, send your melodic sequence to the modulating oscillator only. Stupid easy quick results

Edit for spice: take a much slower sequence or square lfo or whatever and use it to transpose the carrier (rubicon)
