Mine turned up yesterday. Had kind of decided I couldn't really afford it, but now it has arrived I am very impressed. It doesn't actually sound that much like the Minibrute 1, IMO. The vco/vcf seems somehow better articulated, less muddy - there is a touch of MS20 sound going on there. The build q...

Got my Minibrute 2 about a week ago now, first Arturia synth, (got a BSP) and got to say most impressed - I like the sound, not my favourite but a good sound and very, very wide ranging capabilities there. It seems to be built really well and is a joy to play - yes a wider keyboard would be nice but...

Very nice jam flx ...been looking at the AE Modular...sounds good! The AE Modular has a great sound; the Wasp filter is best for bass and the Nyle filter is great for everything else - I have to order the new state variable filter.... I have 2 sorts of oscillator and I definitely prefer the single ...

I'll be doing an a/b comparison when this synth is out, with the Korg with full size keys to see if an Odyessy can join my studio - lusted for one ever since Billy Currie used with Ultravox...

You'll be looking 2nd hand for anything decent at that price range - worth visiting your local music shops and see what they are selling off ex-demo, and you get to try them first!

I know various people moan, but this is what Roland should of done themselves, not that poxy little box that's hard to use and overpriced.... Look forward to trying this at my local music store.

Sorry if someone has already mentioned, but I still feel Brain Eno takes some beating - On Land (Ambient 4) is my personal favourite.

I was pleasantly surprised; certainly not an all time great, but a good, updated homage to the original. Having listened a few time snow, I feel the main reason it's not a patch on the original is the lack of melodies - there's nothing like E4 on this album. There's also a lack of strong sequencer l...

Tangerine Dream - Light Flux

Tangerine Dream - Light Flux. Didn't know this album was out until I checked out the band's site just before Christmas. Now in my collection and one of my favourite newer releases (last 5-10 years). Yet another version of Logos, but that's cool as I really like this one. Whether or not you agree TD ...

The original Minilogue did not grab me when I went to the music store, but this one has certainly got my interest again; will be checking it out. Interesting some ideas have been ported across from the Monologue as that is a excellent, and quirky synth. Most exciting is the 3rd oscillator though....

Bass Station 2 Firmware update

I just had to pass on my experience; I've loved the BS2 since I first got it many years ago now, and heard about the firmware update. This was the easiest Firmware update I've ever done, logged onto the Novation website and within a couple of minutes I had a new synth! The other reason for writing w...

Some great stuff here, nice to hear "proper" music being created with a modular rather than just bleeps and noise! Well done.

I really like the style and price of this format, and I think it sounds excellent, but how do you find the little cables for live performance? I would be afraid of accidentally yanking out a cable during performance and ruining a patch. The patch cables are pretty good, certainly a lot better than ...

My biggest musical thing in 2018 was rebuilding my studio, including buying my first ever proper keyboard rack after 30 plus years! I also bought 2 "proper" 19" racks to replace my homemade ones which were full, extended my AE modular synth and bought a couple of bits of new gear. All this and compl...

My Favourite of 2018 - for now.

As I've said elsewhere, takes me a while to get away from analysing my music and just listening to it, so far of the several pieces I completed in 2018 (even through a studio rebuild!) this is my favourite...

Curled Around my Window - Patterns of Life

I am never really sure what I really think about one of my pieces/songs until a few years have gone by. You start off with the excitement of the process/ completing, then I find I tend to go "that was the sound I tweaked on the JD800", "oh, that drum sound's a bit loud etc".... That latter stage can...

Re: Philip Rees Midi

Hey muff, I've recently just found an old Philip Rees 5x5 Midi switch that I've had for about a year but never got round to setting up. I finally wired all my midi devices up tonight but the box seems to work intermittently at best The switch selects seem to work fine, but midi from any source seem...
