Re: Need more power headers

I have 31 or 32 modules in one 7U case and I power them with a 4 ms ribbon cable with extra female headers. No issues so far

Re: Euro-Serge System

Additional, albeit more tedious option: most if not all RS modules have face plates 2 go wider than their PCBs, so you could make custom face plates. I’ve done that for my Res-EQ and VCFQ, saving 4 hp. In an all RS build you would be able to save 16-20 hp that way

Re: Anyone recommend a US source of reasonably priced tants?

Several Haible Designs use them. What’s the supposed benefit over “regular” electro caps? Historically they were smaller in size for the same ratings. But there have been improvements in low ESR electrolytics, and closely related aluminium "polymer" caps are newer replacements for tantalum. such as...

Re: Any suggestions on Epoch Modular Twinpeak alternatives?

Readily available too, just email the manufacturer I contacted Klangbau a couple months back to place an order but unfortunately this was the response I got. “TWP is available and is 340€ Shipping in Europe only. Overseas shipping is very expensive and not save at the moment. Thank you” 🤷‍♂️ Ah dang

Re: Any suggestions on Epoch Modular Twinpeak alternatives?

Not at all. I seem to remember that had been a problem with the Epoch mk 1 that was resolved in the mk 2. The Klangbau is more than loud enough without any boost. Most of the time I need to attenuate the input, even when pinging. If, btw pinging is all you’re after you might also consider Random Sou...

Re: Any suggestions on Epoch Modular Twinpeak alternatives?

Based on the threads I’ve read the Klangbau Resonator is considered as good or better. I’ve no regrets with it - one of my most cherished modules. Readily available too, just email the manufacturer

I believe the voice cards are separated by 10mm spacers.

EDIT
Peter posted below, looks like 20mm between cards as you mentioned!
Thank you both!!

Polivoks would be great, if you like it grungy and can track one down consider the version from Uoki Toki (I think he has a dual in 4 hp). Alternative could be Three Tom MS-22 but I haven’t had a chance to try it out myself

Re: Deckards Dream General Build Thread

I've searched and not found anything, but as voice card separation distance determines maximum component height (and therefore limits component selection) -- how far are they apart? BOM mentions a number of spacers, which hints voice cards are just 20-25 mm apart - is that correct?

Good point on the attenuversion- the setup is centered around the Doepfer matrix mixer, and I do have separate attenuverters on board.

Re: Importance of compressor/limiter in feedback path, and options

Thanks all for the interesting suggestions so far, please keep them coming! Some modules came up that I was not familiar with and that I will look into more closely. I can say that I do have a ResEQ in my setup, but I might look into a smaller and more vanilla EQ option on top of that.

Importance of compressor/limiter in feedback path, and options

I've started to explore feedback patching in a small, dedicated standalone system, and I'm wondering how important folks would think having available a dedicated compressor in the feedback path(s) would be, rather than just riding the attenuators. MSCL is small and seems like a well-regarded compres...

Re: R*S Variable Slope capacitors

Do you know what’s up with the PCB having both C5, C6, C9 and CB5, CB6, CB9? The BOM doesn’t differentiate these positions and it specifies only 3 caps rather than 6. Interestingly, the picture in the euro build doc has all 6 installed, but with a mix of film and ceramic. The CB caps are all bypass...

Re: R*S Variable Slope capacitors

C5, C6 and C9 all should be installed. C5 and C6 are phase compensation caps for the integrators as used on most serge filters and likely less critical. C9 I'm not sure about but I tend to think that with the faster opamps driving things there that stability cap might be critical. Do you know what’...

Re: Quad attenuverter in 4hp?

Roti Pola is Quad if you’re okay with that it’s also mixing - but I highly recommend Fonitronik Cascade which is “only” triple but has some extra tricks. Pretty much impossible to squeeze more than that into 4 hp tbh Yeah, not looking for a mixer. Only solution I can find thus far is two 2hp attenu...

For those in the US that have gotten theirs, roughly how long did the shipping take? Mine shipped out on Sept. 26, and beyond clearing Moscow exports, it hasn't moved since. Maybe 3 weeks. You can check on EMS and USPS with same tracking I think - most likely, it will just show up on your door step...
