Re: Buchla 275r (green pcbs) EQ issue

the EQ and reverb are separate signal paths. the voltage controlled mix is a mix of the two, so you should expect to hear EQ as long as the mix isn't 100% wet, but obviously the effect will become less and less noticeable as you approach full CW on the reverberation control. try it at 50/50 (12:00) ...

Re: Buchla downsizing advice (200r -> 200e)

Yeah it’s a v2, I had it calibrated by a pro and I think it sounds pretty awesome. Supposedly the 285r v2 and the 285e aren’t too different. The hard part of going 100% 200e is losing some of the pure analog sound modules. One reason for keeping the 285r is to cover for what I thought would be less...

Also, the 285e sounds far better than the 285r to me (I’ve had both and sold the 285r almost immediately).
Remember there are two versions of the 285r. To the OP, do you know if your 285 is a rev1 or rev2 PCB?

weird, i just heard this phrase in a sample while listening to a Motionfield CD (A Clear Horizon - a fantastic album btw) and was like "why does that phrase sound so familiar?" :hmm:

anyway, since i remembered - any updates on the DSS or DSVF?

Re: Best/Favorite Bassists

Funny how much these things are based on time and place; in the UK in the 1980s, Pino Palladino would have topped any poll. Now he doesn't even make the list. I think that could be because the bands he played for and his style of playing has dated a bit. A lot of flanging and moody fretless. Disinc...

+1 for Jah Wobble. 'Gone to Croatia' is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Marcus Miller
Steve Harris
Bill Laswell (notable for so much more but his bass playing is remarkable)
Jonas Hellborg

and on upright there really is the king imo - Edgar Meyer

Re: Ahhh... P Bass or J Bass.

Honestly if you want a P sound, get a P bass. Versatility be damned, it just has the best bass tone for rock and punk. Being a long time Precision devotee I 100% agree with the first part, but not really the second. There is no "best tone" for a particular genre when considering P vs J. You can fin...

Oh OK, but Shawn Cleary/AnalogueHaven/EMS is not the same entity as Eric Fox/Foxtone/Buchla USA.

I wondered whether there had been some sort of formal IP acquisition/agreement made between the two parties.

Re: Ahhh... P Bass or J Bass.

It's funny, I went the opposite direction. I was a dyed in the wool Badass II fan for years, but found that on my older Fenders low and behold the old nickel plated stock bridge just sounds so much better - in a band setting. The heavier mass bridges sound cool by themselves, but they just suck out ...
