Re: Missing Topologies in the Format

It is important to remember that all modular formats use electronic circuits and almost directly compatible power supplies. That Grendel module could be built into any format. There is a maths in 5U .com but it is made by a third party who does the conversation. This! That said, I actually have a q...

Re: Balanced TRS Output module in 5U?

Is there such a module available, or anything with balanced line outs? The Analog Craftsman acOutput has a balanced XLR output connector, as well as TS and headphones. http://analogcraftsman.com/?product=acoutput#tab-description I was going to mention this but it's mono and it sounded like the OP w...

Re: 281r V1.1 too deep for these boats?

What's the depth of the module as-is? If all three stand-offs are 20mm it's going to be very close, as my SAModular boats are ~63mm from the distro pcb to the outer rail edge. That's to the PCB itself, and does not include space for an EDAC connector as I figure you could use an adjacent connector i...

Re: what is your favorite amp?

man as a bassist i've found it's totally horses for courses - there is no one perfect amp for all gigs and sessions. playing live the genre and venue size play a huge part in which amp would sound the best in that particular situation. and for session work, it's a toss-up whether the engineer wants ...

Re: Problems with Serge Klangzeit panel

It would be great if Elby reissued the boards but these fit original STS boards or reproductions of same, not sure if CGS version was the same spacing. I have an unpopulated Elby board and would be happy to measure pin spacing/whatever if that would be of any use. Total self interest of course. :hi...

For whatever reason I conceptually prefer the regular DSG, but I've only had hands on experience with the XL because the CV Processor PCB have been unavailable for months now, so I'm still waiting for mine. :bang:

Re: RS peak & trough - bipolar or not?

Quite the opposite. I doubt they're going to AC-couple an input on a circuit designed to work with both AC and DC input signals, such as the P&T.

Re: RS peak & trough - bipolar or not?

dead horse award, but here is Random*Source's actual jack color scheme. for the record, this is exactly what i thought they meant, as it is where i got my information from to begin with. Banana Colors The banana colors try to follow a basic scheme, however, traditionally that scheme is not completel...

I measured ~245mm x 145mm x 110mm (100mm without the rubber feet). Note that doesn't include clearance requirements for the cables.

Re: RS peak & trough - bipolar or not?

I don't quite understand why the Special Timbral Oscillator vindicates your OCD when that's a quantizer on the right side, and not a peak/trough, but we're clearly talking past each other with diminishing returns here. Agreed. But just to clarify on my OCD vindication comment I wasn't referring to ...

Re: RS peak & trough - bipolar or not?

Nope. I'm not following your logic there, especially the part about the outputs as there are tons of black jack outputs in R*S land and with the exception of the DSG's none of them are labelled "bipolar" - but all of them are in fact bipolar. And I never said you couldn't send a negative voltage to ...

Re: RS peak & trough - bipolar or not?

IIRC, the primary significance of black jacks in Serge is AC-coupling for that input (and rarely, but occasionally, for output, too). Bipolar is less common, and is usually deliberately marked as such. So, while I haven’t used the XL, I have some experience with Random*Source, and they have favored...

The company itself has been defunct for some time now, so you'll just need to keep your eyes on the used market.
Fair warning that they usually sell quite quickly when they do appear.

Re: CoolAudio VTL5C3 - Anyone Tried Them?

Mike Peake and I tried them when testing vactrols for a 292b - they're way too fast as far as LPG 5C3's go. We ended up going with Modularaddict's - sounds like they're Silonex? Modularaddict wouldn't come clean on the source back when they first released them. They were also too fast - but not as b...
