Re: Buchla 258c (rev.3.0) PCB
I believe the minipot on the lower left of some vintage modules acted as a fine-tuning trimmer for the left CV input but I can't find any schematics reflecting this. That's exactly what it is. Here's the test - feed a constant voltage to the left CV input then dime the attenuverter. Then turn up th...

Re: Banana system pictures
I also did not screw the 73-75 / 208c into the cabinets - they are invisibly attached with velcro so that I can move them easily if I want to play them somewhere else without the whole setup. Super clever! :hail: Also, great system in general - it's cool to see the Serge and Buchla formats envision...

Re: New 5U studio case
Yet another bump of this thread. I have wanted to buy one of these cases for nearly two years now and never got contacted by boothnavy. Does anyone know if he's okay? Has anyone purchased any of these cases? I don't see them at any of the retailers mentioned and have heard absolutely nothing about ...

Re: What Happened to Foxtone?
So they're one and the same, when I contacted Eric to buy modules earlier, they were being built and I had to wait a month for one of them to be manufactured and tested before it shipped to me. My bet is that - Covid makes things hard - They are working on the new 200 modules - There was a major co...

Re: DRONE your own !!!
Serge drone, also ran out of patch cables... :despair: https://soundcloud.com/arctemp/vida-vazia That's a wicked one. I really like those feedbacky overtones. What were the key features of this patch? Oh gosh, for as minimal as it sounds there's actually a LOT going on with this patch. I wasn't kid...

Re: R*S CROCODILE
Looksand sounds like a cool panel, best RS one yet IMO I totally disagree on that. Why don't they make more La Bestia II panels? Whatever happened to them? These would be much better to have in my opinion. These are almost the equivalent of a Random*Source Animal panel IMO. I guess the La Bestia is...

Re: Layer / merging sounds in a DAW like older synths and samplers
What about hunting down an Ensoniq DP/4 or DP/4+ and patching into your DAW as 2 (or 4 if you run mono) channels of insert effects? In my opinion a big part of the "thick" sound of especially the Ensoniq gear was the D/A converters they used (or perhaps the associated analog electronics), along with...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
One. more. try. It's been presented that the word and concept of cycle -rather than loop- is a well known, long used and generally understood TERM for a FUNCTION that appears on the SSF module. And that due to this long association with the WORD cycle and its CONCEPT in various modded -and unmodded...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
Because in actual fact, there are plenty of examples of serge cycle switches, labels and docs which all refer to the word cycle. Besides LWSS, where do you see loop in OG Serge? Meanwhile, here's another serge panel with a CYCLE switch . But not on the SSG... :yay: Our SSG does in fact have a Loop ...

The 'facts' you're relating are carefully chosen to support your position-conclusion. And we're different in that way how? Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
You've now 'boxed' the pot on three sides. Not good. And put two switches which could formerly be handled either or both with one action, too far apart to now do the same. And now we're definitely going in circles. Stepping back from this convo. I'm sure whatever the ultimate design is it will be f...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
Sure it is a serge word. Now you're splitting hairs. The switch to connect cycle should have a different label than the jack it connects? No, I'm not splitting hairs. I was pointing out the the label to connect the CYCLE output to the INPUT was in fact not a traditional Serge function - mostly beca...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
CYCLE is the Serge word. It needs to stay. To be fair, the actual Serge SSG doesn't have a CYCLE switch at all. The switch to connect the CYCLE out to the INPUT has always been a mod. The R*S Euro SSG calls it CYCLE, my LWSS 5u SSG calls it LOOP. So I think I've come full circle, back to what Doug ...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
There's also a problem with the coupler labels. The use of 2-line labels like CYCLE OUT and S/H IN makes it unclear, whether COUPLE OUT+ is a single label, or does COUPLE also relates to OUT±. consider COUPLE+ and COUPLE± instead. Or just swap the COUPLE label and the LED. So how about: ON SMOOTH P...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
I actually did take a closer look at my systems and noted that with one exception 5u switches don't have header labels, it's just the position indicators. So how about: || :-------:|:-------:|:-------: ON|SMOOTH|PRE [switch]|[switch]|[switch] CYCLE|STEP|POST I admit I can't think of a more graceful ...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
the labeling on the switches looks off because of the inconsistent use of header labels. EXP has a header as well as a legend. SMOOTH/STEP has no header, only a legend CYCLE has a header/legend hybrid + legend consider instead: | MODE | CYCLE | EXPO | |:-----:|:------:|:------:| | SMOOTH | ON | PRE...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator

Doug had cycle on top and smooth below to balance it all out. Then, following advice given inthe thread he swapped smooth and step which now crowded cyc...

Re: SSL Serge Smooth / Stepped Generator
The CYCLE below the switch is misleading. It suggests it's ON in the low position. CYCLE is a header, so it really needs to go above the switch. Then, you can either use ON and OFF or just OFF (below). I only suggested it for cosmetic reasons and because the R*S Euro SSG does the same. Does anyone ...
