Re: Mutable Instruments Stages

Can one independent segment be used as a slew limiter? From the manual it sounds like you can if you use the step mode and leave the gate unpatched. But with gate unpatched how does the module know it’s an independent segment? The only way I can see it would work is if you use the left-most channel...

Re: MIDI 4+1: Arduino-powered polyphonic and monophonic MIDI to 4x CV/gate interface in 6HP

Lack of MIDI IN opto-isolator is not dangerous if you are using devices in home, powered from the same phase. But on the stage or in the studio, MIDI cables may be very long and you never know from what phase source device is powered and how is secured. That's why opto-isolation for MIDI was introd...

That is very cool, but living dangerously not having an opto-isolator on MIDI in!
Thanks for the feedback! Dangerous for the module, the MIDI device, or both? 😅 Can you elaborate?

Re: MIDI 4+1: Arduino-powered polyphonic and monophonic MIDI to 4x CV/gate interface in 6HP

Here's a quick demo, where I use the MIDI interface together with my alternative firmware for Stages : https://youtu.be/g9WwDo7eYi4 Patch notes, from left to right: - MIDI 4+1 interface allocates notes polyphonically from the keyboard into four channels of CV/gate. The additional top-most gate outpu...

Re: Qu-Bit Chord v2

I picked up a second hand Qu-but Chord v2 but it didn't have an SD card. Can someone let me know what format the card need to be, and what the contents are? Is there a place to grab the files - I only see a custom wavetable on the Qu-bit site Any MicroSD card should be fine. Mine is a 8GB class 4 f...

MIDI 4+1: Arduino-powered polyphonic and monophonic MIDI to 4x CV/gate interface in 6HP

I made a polyphonic MIDI interface for Eurorack using Arduino and 3D-printing. I was inspired by CVpal and MIDI Thing , but I implemented a feature-set more focused on my needs. It has two different polyphonic allocation modes, and two split-keyboard modes with a monophonic algorithm on one side. I ...

Re: Moogfest Sub-Harmonicon - What Is It?

I looked at the panel many many times yesterday and today, but only now Andrew Huang makes me notice that quantization labeling is somewhat wrong. You have 12-ET and 12-JI for the chromatic scale of 12 different notes, but 8-ET and 8-JI for the diatonic scale of 7 notes...

Re: Arturia Keystep pro

Polyphonic CV assigns each CV channel to the order of what key you press, rather than rotate and allocate. This means hitting the first note will always trigger the 1st CV channel, 2nd note triggers 2nd channel etc. Still wish there was an option to rotate (makes tuning much easier) The main advant...

Re: Something new from Make Noise coming?

That's not what an OR function does. It outputs the maximum voltage. What you need is Gate * Strength, so a VCA. There are probably other ways, but not with an OR fonction I think. More like an AND if it exists in the modular world. Sorry, you're right, I was editing it but you came first :) I was ...

Re: Something new from Make Noise coming?

You would modulate level on Pam's. Just add a VCA controlling the output strength of any gate to get this effect. true, but I'm out of VCAs :) Is that a joke?!? Maybe you have an SUM/offset function available somewhere? (Maths?) It should work the same way, "negative offset + strength sequence + ga...

wait this video just taught me that the 0-coast has dynamic gate volume response. I had no idea. How can I send diff gate "strengths" from my modular to it like the 0-control does? anyone know? Re: Something new from Make Noise coming?

I think a very important factor is an instrument's inspiration-factor. Versatility and function do not matter if they do not help you make good music or inspire you to try new things. I think the 0-ctrl looks very unique and capable of creating music that is very immediate and unprecedented. And it...

(can the bottom row be switched to something other than "Time" and be used as another CV out?)
Yes, there's a dedicated CV out for each, also the third. You just have to turn the Time knob anticlockwise to stop it affecting steps duration.

Ah right. 8 waves in a wavetable is very little.... You select the bank with the Bank knob, and blend smooth...

On the slow LFO mode, do they still go fairly fast on the top range, or is it an overall reduction? It is an overall reduction, by a factor of 8. If not, pressing the button for a second to make a green section go into LFO mode could be done again to go into "slow LFO" mode, with the green LED puls...

This looks pretty great. I'll give it a try on my two-Stages chained setup this evening and see what happens. Standard and slow LFOs modes *should* work as expected on chained modules. I really don't know what happens once you switch to harmonic oscillator or six EGs, since the chain link will "bre...
