Re: Mixer AND multitrack audio interface?

The SSP actually might be able to do this. I've been considering one for this exact purpose. If comparing to audio interfaces alone with that many channels it's actually not that bad price wise for 16 ins. Edit: and recently someone named thetechnobear made a performance mixer vst for it: https://f...

Re: Utilities

My first utilities were Mutable Instruments Kinks and Links. Gives you analog logic, multiples, unity gain mixer, noise, sample and hold, inversion, half and full wave rectification, and a precision adder. Now I'm at 15u and still use one if not both in every patch. I think they're the perfect start...

A big fan of this: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/fonitronik-cascade

It was my first diy with the help of a friend and useful as a dc offset, mixer, attenuverter as well.

Re: Modules that FEEL good

Joranalogue has the sexiest feeling knobs :hmm: with the perfect amount of resistance for performance. Seriously tho, that rubberized coating is so pleasing to touch. This is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the topic. 100% I only have a single Joranalogue module (Filter 8) and I swear ...

Re: Your stupidest recent patching mistake

Tweak the filter. Why is nothing changing? Turn up the VCA. What's going on?
I don't know how much time passed before I realized I hadn't even routed the connection.

edit: not worse, but that was most recent.

Worse would be doing everything right and clearing the dance floor.

Re: First multiple compact EG: Stages, Quadrax, Quadigy, others?

yeah, that post was mine, and thanks for inspiring me to stress-test my Quadrax. I'm seriously disappointed that it doesn't retrigger while mid-decay, either. if the only reason is that Intellijel thinks we are better off without clicks and pops that can happen when you retrigger an envelope, I fee...

Re: First multiple compact EG: Stages, Quadrax, Quadigy, others?

IMO, your point about menus versus knob-per-function is an important one, but it’s also important where the menus are, and where the knobs are. The former can be okay for set-and-forget, but not for things you’re going to want to grab or tweak a lot. That said, you seem to be considering some wildl...

Re: First multiple compact EG: Stages, Quadrax, Quadigy, others?

Out of all of these fancy quad envelope generator options, does anyone know which ones can force a restart at 0 volts regardless of segment settings? I currently have a Quadra, Stages, and O_C in Piqued mode for envelope duties but out of these only O_C offers reset functionality via Attack reset: ...

Re: A bit of a rant. State of tech in 2020.

Which sequencers allow you to start with a blank pattern, record tracks, then copy the pattern to another location, [all while playing], then switch to the second [copied] version and transpose tracks and add new parts, then chain or set up in a song? MidiboxSeq. With 8 DIN outs plus usb midi out. ...

Re: A bit of a rant. State of tech in 2020.

What does “song mode” in a hardware sequencer give you, that having a library of patterns you can perform as a song does not? In a “studio” setting you can use a DAW, in a performance setting, you’re already piloting the hovercraft. What’s the advantage to having a chain of patterns stored as oppos...

Re: Turing Machine vs Permutation vs Marbles

I have a Permutation (12hp) with expander but am pretty damn sure I'd be happier with Marbles. The gate patterns from the Variant are just derivations that cannot be altered independently unlike Marbles. I'd take that over Variant any day. Marbles has slew and quantization I mean c'mon how is this a...

My unit arrived yesterday. Only did a quick run through of the factory bank. After about an hour I quickly came to the conclusion that I need to sell my 2hp Verb, Pico DSP, and Dual FX immediately to help fund 3 more of of these. Was also pleasantly surprised by how wigglable it is despite the cramm...

People saying there is no demand for hardware sequencers: where is your evidence of this? Monthly, quarterly and annual sales data. For the expense of development and maintenance, sequencers are a money losing proposition. Well, you do have R&D in your signature! Why do you think that is? If sales ...

Erica Dual FX does not offer a sync delay unfortunately and perhaps I have a faulty unit but the noise floor is louder than any other module I own. The reverbs also have a very prominent and defined pre-delay that I find really hard to use generally (though the stalker reverb is really cool). It's s...

I think you could set something like this up in the Er301. I’ll have to confirm later. You want to slow down or speed up the loop after recording it? Just confirming you can indeed do varispeed and live looping on an ER-301. In fact one of the samplers is called Varispeed Player and you can set it'...
