Disting MK4 v4.16 K-6 Clockable SD Delay Bug

The multiplier on the K-6 Clockable SD Delay does not behave like the B-4 Clockable Delay. K-6 multiplier values -15 through 0 all produce delays at x1.5 (basically they do nothing). Values 1 through 8 work fine, however. B-4 behaves as expected for all values (where 0=x1 and so on) and I'd expect K...

Re: Micro Ornament & Crime variants

A quick question about the Michigan Synth Works Micro Ornament and Crime: does it come with this large bank of scales or is it something you have to instal yourself? I assume they're on there, but the MSW page doesn't mention them. They link to v1_3 of the firmware docs on their site so I think tha...

Re: Experinced wigglers: Does it still surprise you?

I don't have many years put into modular, but I do have many years of electronic music experience. Honestly I don't find the overall inspiration factor any different. Of course I find modular more inspiring to work with than software or even single purpose hardware, but that's just a personal thing ...

Re: Play Out! - Live Modular Manifest - Wigglers RBP

Live performance was the #1 driving factor for me go modular. At first I thought a humble 6U would be enough but now my live rig is a single MDLR 9Ux126HP beast. I'd love to hear people's solutions to portable stands! In a performance I need the rack to lay flat on a surface without needing to hunch...

Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

Well, I think I'm trying to understand: the measures add up to each other. so for my problem above, P4 begins at step 32 because the total of measures above is 6, it will begin at step 1 if total measures above is a 4 multiple. Is that correct? Phew if it's that, it's very complicated to construct ...

Re: Westlicht PER|FORMER Sequencer (DIY)

Yes all tracks are aligned. Also I don't have any modulation routing. I noticed that it play well when the total "N" are a 4 multiple. For instance if the addition of "N" equal 6, some tracks doesn't start at step 1. If it's 8 it's ok. Could it also be that I have other tracks that don't have the s...

Re: Sell Me on Pachinko (or not)

I hear yall about the smaller knobs. I said Marbles in my previous post but I have a Pachinko. Marbles is just easier to type. I've got the Michigan Synth Works version and they're not trimmers - don't know what they're called but they're halfway between and I have zero problems with the size and sp...

Re: Sell Me on Pachinko (or not)

Just thinking out loud: you can use the three x outs as LFOs, and self patch the t outs into the spread, bias, and steps to modify the LFOs a bit as well. Keep in mind that the gate length of the t outs can be changed as well, which will influence the self patch even more. You can also just use it a...

Re: Looking for standalone sound design sampler.

I'm pretty happy with my ER-301 for sample based sound design aside from the built in reverb. You can do a lot more than just basic stretching, filtering, and fx with it due to having the world of audio rate modulation missing from most samplers.

Re: What you're good at VS what you enjoy?

I can relate a lot. Three years in and I still struggle with this line. I recently decided to just go for it and share what I really enjoy (textural, sound track like) as opposed to what people have come to expect from me (techno) and was pleasantly surprised by the positive response. Gave me a litt...

Re: Is it wrong I can't seem to get into Ornament and Crime?

It's not wrong but try this: One CV into CV in 1 in Quantermain. Now patch 3 offsets into the other CV ins and make sure they are set to transpose those channels, and also make sure the other channels are set to use CV 1 as source as well. So now you have 4 pitch sequences derived from a single CV s...

Hmm very few mentions of Intellijel Scales even though it seems like a really phenomenal option. I am looking for my first quantizer and it is leading the pack to me at the moment (rest being Harmonaig and bard quartet - still haven't seen much from it and it is not available yet so...). Re: Brand new to this.

All good choices assuming you're sequencing with an external MIDI sequencer. Honestly, though, I'd go so far as to say this is too much. Why not start with just a sv-1b and an effect and see how far you can take that? It will no doubt not be enough, but when that happens you'll know exactly where to...

I have a Tall Dog OC and MSW Temps Utile. The MSW build quality is much better than the Tall Dog and I prefer the larger knobs on the MSW. I bought a MSW OC as a gift for a friend who was also pleased so with that I will continue to look at MSW for these kinds of things.

Re: ES-9 standalone summing?

As mentioned earlier you can use https://www.xoxomodular.com/midixo.html to go from midi to ES-9 in standalone mode. Expert Sleepers also has a product (I forget which) that facilitates this but this one is much smaller for this single purpose. I've been contemplating using sweet sixteen this way. B...

Re: Delay with milisecond option

DLD is more intuitive regarding dialing in exact delay delays in my experience and straight binary clock div delay times vs triplets are separated via switch so it's easy to avoid triplets in those cases where you want to modulate time and not have goofy triplets when they aren't wanted. I can't see...

Re: Modules with scale quantization: please let us decide, not you

That's not at all what I was asking for or suggesting. I'm talking about a design concept and provided some pretty practical rationale as to why I think it is better. The modules I listed are examples of what that could look like. I wish I wouldn't have done that because I think people are missing ...

Re: Modules with scale quantization: please let us decide, not you

I think this is a matter of interfaces and not of capabilities. For the type of modules you're talking about, scale quantization is an added feature, a tertiary capability, and not the main function of the module. These modules are designed to do certain things and allowing users to choose scale qu...

Re: Modules with scale quantization: please let us decide, not you

A grand feature request for future modules / plea to modular creators: If you are adding a scale quantization feature to your module that isn't a dedicated quantizer, please let the user decide what scales are available, otherwise we need an external quantizer anyway so your feature isn't really al...
