Re: 5U anxiety

DIYing a 5U would be good and you said you are handy with a soldering iron. You need the spare time for DIY, researching, sourcing and building. Give eurorack a try but buy secondhand only. You can pretty much exit euro and get all or most of your money back if its not for you. That would work with ...

28 pots, 9 switches, 6 buttons, 1 screen, 41 jack sockets. The size is a positive, a "micro" version would not be an improvement for me.

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

Thanks Mr.Kus. Just what a thread about Thomann prices and taxation needed. The opinions of a dutch bicycle manufacturer, via a bloke that wrote once an anti brexit guide. A Dutch bicycle business or German musical business will be facing the same problems, the same red tape so it seems very releva...

Re: They say you can never have enough VCAs...

Yes the 2 or 3 holes are CV inputs. The more common 1 CV hole VCA can be similar to 2 or 3 hole VCA by using a mixer for your CV's and putting the mixer output into the single CV in. The compact single hole quad VCA is no longer so compact if you start using mixers before its inputs so its all swin...

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

Its a 1000 synth pledge updated to a 1500 synth pledge after the recent Benn and Gear video. Behringer underestimated how hard it was to give them away so its ongoing. They are doing it on the quiet to protect the privacy of recipients. No publicity after the initial promo pledge is my understanding.

I would argue that the Uzeus could get into the top 10. You see them everywhere bought new or sold on second, third hand to new wigglers like me. The eurorack crack pipe.

Re: the DIY cases thread!

Lovely design, but 25 degrees sounds potentially a bit tight. You may run into issues with patch cable plugs getting in the way of one another. I chose 18 degrees and I do not have any trouble with that, but that's for four rows. A sharper angle may look nicer for three rows. Thank you! I definitel...

Re: nonlinearcircuits NLC 2020 modules

The music sits well with the video. I enjoyed that demo trying to work out what was going on and then the phone at the end being pulled away? The reflections of spools of wire hanging up? Light dependent resistors its makes sense now. Pretty far out module and demo, epic.

Re: Another beginner rack, but not a musician!

I think i would prefer messing about with the frozen buffer on a Clouds or Clouds clone than the Grainshift module. The wobbly knobs on the Audio damage modules always put me off. A mixer would be handy to mix and attenuate your modulation sources, a mult would be useful.

Re: Doepfer A-139-2 killed my MI Plaits and itself

I tend to put passive modules like a mult next to my Uzeus to act as heatsink. My Uzeus never get super hot but can be warm to touch. If the Doepfer headphone module runs hot its the last thing you want sitting next to the Uzeus which can get hot itself. This may have contributed to the ribbon cable...

I would look at what the same cash could buy. Its $499. Behringer Neutron (much cheaper money left for Korg Sq1?), Minibrute 2, Erica Synths Pico System, Behringer Arp 2600 clone $599. Make Noise 0 Coast. Go secondhand and Moog Mother 32, DFAM and all those mentioned already become cheaper.AE Modula...

Re: VCAs with 2 (or more) CV inputs - discussion

So, my next question is - why have manufacturers abandoned this "norm" for single CV-in VCAs that everybody uses nowadays? All the basic Doepfer VCAs, and MFOs VCAs (and Thomas Henry!) have 2 or more CV ins, if we're talking about older designs, and in some of the aforementioned classic modular sys...
