ER-301 doing all the rhytmic elements. Sequenced by teletype (and hermod for melodies) as usual. Middle section features a generative melody and some metric modulation. Complete patch notes in description on youtube… https://youtu.be/YoyrjTE2iVo This is fantastic! The first part until the drop, whe...

Really nice man! I like how you let it all breathe. The song evolved in a nice and smooth way :)

Re: Beyond Generative: Seven months with one patch!

:despair: Having worked so hard on the videos and diagram describing how all of this works, I’m disappointed to see it moved to the tunes forum. No one contacted me about moving it? If I had just wanted peeps to hear the music, I wouldn’t have done the videos? I would have just posted the Bandcamp ...

Re: How often do you unpatch your system?

I took done with a track, but that is not completely right: I unpatch when I am done with a sound. I might patch something, record a few takes of it, then move on to something else. Doesn't mean that the track is done, but the patching for that sound surely is :tu:

Re: How many modules outside your rack?

They have started to add up actually. I have a VCO, a clock multipier, another clock module outside the rack. A bunch of utilities are on their way too, so I do alot of switching modules in and out.

Some day I will get a bigger case, but I dont have the :75: at the moment

Re: Arrangement and fluidity

There is a great YouTube playlist by Kirk DeGiorgio on the Sonic Academy channel where he builds a techno track from scratch and brings it all the way through to finished arrangement. He employs the subtractive technique mentioned above. Below should be video 1. I think arrangement is video 8 and 9...

This thread has given me some serious GAS for Pams New Workout :help:

I do need a better master clock, and I am in desperate need of LFOs, and quantizer for my pressure points would make life easier.

And just around the corner, a paycheck i see 8-)

Re: Pictures of your techno rig for inspiration?

naturlig : I love the sound of the tanzbar, even though I don't have one... I have samples that I often use. Love the little dissonant melody coming towards the end in your track :) I feel you with the overdubbing, that's why I tailored my case to be able to record one takes. Granted it's very repe...

*Picture of a techno rig, description & a great instagram video* Really nice mate. I like your case and the sound it makes! My long term plan is to go in a similar direction. Boring answer, but a cheap option is to use the tuner in your DAW of choice.

Re: What should be the 2nd Module (after Plaits) - MATHS or Disting EX, thoughts?

+1 for Maths. Even more so, since you're beginning. There's another module function or two that I would also queue up before the Disting, although I definitely recommend Disting EX after maybe a VCA and/or LPG and either some kind of filter or a shaper or additional VCO, depending on where your ear...

Re: Vibrato fade in?

The above suggestions work, and are the easiest way to do this, IF your patch has a quick release, so that the EG that controls the LFO level can quickly shut off at the end of each note, to prepare for the fade-in with the next note, and you won't hear the vibrato stop because the EG that controls...

For basic duties I really like ableton’s EQ eight. I also had the ProQ which is more or less the same thing but fancier :)

For character, I like Waves Scheps 73 channel strip EQ thingy. It is really good with vocals.

Re: When gear has lots of features you don't use do you want to downgrade?

I bought a popular controller with the plan to use its internal sequencer. As it turned out, the sequencer was not for me (I really have no clue how to use that thing. It makes zero sense) so I ended up using it as a keyboard / sampler. Kind of annoying but not really. Generally speaking, gear with ...

Cool and very generous! I dig your stuff on youtube, in particular when you go in detail how you build certain patches. Great stuff overall! :)

Hordijk 5U system, misc Eurorack in Weedywhizz cases, Analogue System cabinets in Gould Caseworks enclosures.
Small Neumann speaker with main monitoring / DAW on other side of the room.

I really like aspects of his songs. Time Alone with you has such a perfect groove in the beginning, for example, but then it becomes to much. I think he goes to far with the complex harmonies. But I love to listen when he talks about music. Very inspiring! I haven't heard what you posted, so thanks ...

Re: Clock Dividers. Essential Range and Divisors?

I have a rotating clock divider and it is absolutely essential for my rack. Every division is good, but what makes it really interesting is when you do not send it a straight rhythm but a funky one. I have a plan to get another RCD to then divide the already divided funky rhythm. Or send the divisio...
