Re: Noise Engineering Mimetic Digitalis

I was thinking of getting this instead of voltage block. VB looks good but I think it would be overkill for my 6u 84hp rack. I would be using this exclusively as a cv sequencer. I don't have any in my rack currently and I think it would bair nicely with BIA. I won't be sequencing pitch. I ended up ...

Re: Malekko Heavy Industries Voltage Block

is this a known issue with everyone with voltage block? also (unrelated), it would be nice on the voltage block if it could hold the arpeggiated steps after you take your had off if you press a button like shift or save while holding down the steps, has this been suggested? I have one of the newer ...

Re: Alternative to Rene V2 until they are available?

Ooh mimetic digitalis is a very good option. I have v1 and I love being able to play it like keys. I'm afraid to know what's new in v2. Pressure points seems to be popular. I've heard people say they like it better. I don't have one. There’s a V2? I don't know if my MD is V1 or V2 (I don't recall e...

Re: Alternative to Rene V2 until they are available?

If I had to do it all over again today, I would be tempted to get Frap Tool's USTA instead of the Rene.

Re: Euclidean rhythm with control over all 3 parameters using cvs?

I have never used one, but with the new Droid module it seems straightforward to set it up with CV control over all three parameters (length, betas, offset) of Euclidean rhythms, using its Euklid "circuit".

Re: New 2018 MakeNoise Rene

Yes, but doing so is much more complicated than the “press a button and twist a stage knob” approach of usta. Edit: I can’t think of a straightforward way to begin approaching the time variations on Rene / using PNW that are just available on tap w/ usta. I can see how to modulate the clock (solid ...

I don't see a single VCA, or attenuator or mixer for CV. I suggest Happy Nerding, 3xMIA or 3xVCA

Re: Modulating E352

For my E370 I mostly use Ochd, VoltageBlock, NerdSeq (yes, for modulation as well).

VB and NerdSeq are excellent for fast rythmic modulation of the wavetable.

Re: Top 5 modules?

In no particular order, my favorites are:

1. NerdSeq
2. VoltageBlock
3. Plaits
4. Next Phase
5. Mimeophon

These are perhaps not the most experimental and exciting modules, but they are rock solid, pretty much in every patch, and I cannot imagine my case without them.

Re: MDLR Cases! worth it ?

I have a MDLR 12u x 104hp with the Doepfer PSU3. It is fantastic, and I never had a problem with it. That said, not to derail, and I realize power and grounding are deeply personal religious issues around here. Speaking for myself, I pray to the god of wall power straight into the case (no wall wart...

Re: New 2018 MakeNoise Rene

Rene's reset behavior can be confusing. You can reset the X and Y channels individually, using a trigger to their respective Mod inputs, when the "Fun.Mod.Reset" is ON on the Fun page for that channel. This will reset this channel to its first (accessible) step. You can reset both the X, Y, and C ch...

Re: Do I really need a quad VCA to start?

I have both a the Veils quad VCA and the 3xVCA, and the 3xVCA is perfectly fine. You absolutely don't need a quad VCA. Two of the special features of the 3xVCA are that (1) it has bias, so you can adjust it so it doesn't fully close even when the CV is is zero. And (2) the CV has an attenuverter (no...

Re: Rene vs Pam's New Workout

If you mean "Rene and PNW", then yes, that's a great combo that go well together, and it looks like they would go well with your current rack.

If you mean "Rene or PNW" then I agree with Mr_Sulcus that they are apples and oranges and a comparison doesn't make sense.

I think it is a great idea to get an authorized electrician to do the wiring. If you bring the schematic you posted here, the electrician should immediately be able to see the correct way to wire it.

Re: Mutable Instruments Plaits

Like it was said above, I have had great experiences using Voltage Block to change Model on Plaits. This works especially well going into a clocked delay. I do have two Plaits in the rack, and I sometimes modulate Model on both, but then they tend to have different roles in the patch: one is lead, t...

Re: Master clock

This may not be for everyone, but for my master clock, I have replaced PNW with NerdSeq (with the trigger expander). PNW is fantastic, no doubt. That said, I found its interface slow and a bit tedious to work with, it has limited options for CV control, and I often had to synchronize it to my sequen...

Re: Ochd or Sloths

And if I get the ochd am I also going to need to get a levit8 or something :-)? Depends on what you are plugging them into. You will need some form of attentuation, but some modules have this built in. In fairness, the Sloths and Ochd both need attenuation, so that would be the same either way.
