Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

I can imagine that they would want to make the transition as smooth as possible, and also not move backwards... but, sometimes you just don't know. I guess we'll keep our eyes open for news. Thanks for sharing your correspondence with Eric!

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

From Eric Fox back in mid-September: “Everything that’s in the the Easel Command will be available on the Easel…maybe even an extra handy surprise or two if we can fit it all in there :). Hopefully we’ll be able to share something sooner than later!” Cheers! Thanks for that. I was hoping that would...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

It's been great getting to know this synth ever since I picked one up! Had to buy more cables (so I've now doubled what came with it... hoping that's enough for a while...) and also added the USB A Host card. I really like running directly from my keystep or keystep pro (each with different advantag...

Easel Command with Keystep Pro or Beatstep Pro Buzz issue

So, I have my Keystep Pro hooked up to my Easel Command with pitch cv out of the Keystep Pro into the v/oct input on my Easel, and I'm getting some loud buzzing. The same thing happens with my Beatstep Pro. It does not happen on my normal Keystep or any of my other eurorack samplers. Any thoughts as...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Picked up my Easel Command today from Noisebug, and already just lost in the sounds... Just curious, did you pre-order this? NB has shown Sold Out for the last couple weeks or so. I do want to pick one up (already bought the Sensel a few months back on a great sale) but since they show out of stock...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Picked up my Easel Command today from Noisebug, and already just lost in the sounds... I already felt "familiar" with the instrument from the Arturia plugin, and watching a million videos, but nothing prepares you for how quickly you can get amazing music out of this instrument... so glad to have th...

Re: Mystic Circuits LPG questions/thoughts?

Thanks again! That definitely made a difference, and I've found a few different alternatives that all result in similar, but different results. At least I now know I have options!

Re: Mystic Circuits LPG questions/thoughts?

Thanks for the reply!

Good to know about the light leak. Definitely not a big deal, but it surprised me the first time I noticed it. 99% of the time it doesn't matter. :)

Admittedly I'm still pretty new to modular, so I'll have to look up what it means to buffer the CV, but thanks for the tip!

Mystic Circuits LPG questions/thoughts?

I've been using a Mystic Circuits 0HP LPG lately, and I've found a couple things that I'm curious if you also experience, or have thoughts about. The first thing is that I've found I get better results if I don't run an envelope directly into the CV in, but instead run a fixed voltage into a VCA, an...

Little Mikey inconsistent results

Hello, I recently added a Little Mikey to my setup, and have been getting mixed results. The 1/4" input works well, but some mics don't work well. When I use a dynamic mic (EV 635a), it has been working great and consistently, but when I try to use a large diaphragm condenser mic (CAD E-300 with pha...

Re: Why Suzanne Ciani hates Eurorack? (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love my performance modules)

Thanks all for the useful feedback! This does help point me in the direction I was looking for, and gives me thoughts about what I might want to do for live performances. I feel like 2 year of wiggling has taught me a lot about synthesis in general, and there is still just a lot more to learn. I am ...

Re: How/when to move to a larger system?

I know I am late to the party, but as someone looking to get their first rack, the 'small vs large' case debate is something I'm thinking of. I don't want something too big off the start if it's too unwieldy, but I'm not sure how small I want if I'm going to outgrow it. I started with the Arturia R...

Re: Why Suzanne Ciani hates Eurorack? (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love my performance modules)

yes the OP is out of context, she is not criticizing eurorack at all... nice clickbait thread title, though? she goes on to talk about "a lot of the machines" and audience having no feedback about what is going on I got the impression she was talking about modern live shows in general, where people...

Re: Why Suzanne Ciani hates Eurorack? (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love my performance modules)

I don't hear her clearly calling out eurorack, she says the explosion of eurorack has been a dream for her and then a few sentences later says "a lot of the machines" don't have feedback etc. These seem like independent clauses to me and she goes on to say, loosely quoted: that you can just hit pla...

Re: Why Suzanne Ciani hates Eurorack? (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love my performance modules)

she dreamt of analog coming back and performances being put on, but then negates that exactly that is happening right now because it's not happening on buchla? To be fair, I cut to the video right after she said that having people playing all of these instruments is a dream... so I think she's happ...

Re: Why Suzanne Ciani hates Eurorack? (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love my performance modules)

I’m not taking a position on whether or not she is right or wrong, but rather what her comments likely mean. Don Buchla was primarily an interface and usability designer. His “day job” included designing interfaces for NASA. When he designed Buchla modules he designed the panels first. He used colo...

Why Suzanne Ciani hates Eurorack? (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love my performance modules)

So, in a relatively recent video, Suzanne Ciani says that one of the issues she has with Eurorack is that there isn't enough feedback from the system to be useful for live performance. Is there anyone who has experience with this, and can maybe elaborate on what she means? And, is there any way to f...

Re: How/when to move to a larger system?

On the space consideration, I would just make triple sure that the space you have and how you interact with the instrument currently takes priority over buying a monster case. Have made the mistake of trying to jam too much into too small a space (blinded by the blinkenlights I lusted after most li...

Re: How/when to move to a larger system?

Thank you all for this advice. The good news is that based on what I am hearing, we all have had, or thought about this issue. I'm sure that eventually I'll have a larger "permanent" case, and then keep the Rackbrute for playing live (which feels like a great size for that...), and also falls neatly...

How/when to move to a larger system?

So, my current case is full ( 2 x 6U Rackbrute ) and I was feeling "happy" and "complete"... and then my brother had to go and give me a gift certificate to Perfect Circuit... (I know... so tough...) (waiting for the " you can send it here " jokes...) What I'd like to know how people generally appro...

Re: The uTune Dual Expanders are here!

Just wanted to say thanks for the dual expanders. Within a day of putting it into my rack, I already used it to finish a project I was working on. It really was satisfying to suddenly have polyphony (even if I wasn't using the microtonal aspect... lol)

Re: a773 live performances on youtube

That's a totally fair use of your channel. I had only asked because I feel like a lot of the music you make exists outside of the normal "modular" sound, so I was curious how to get there with my own work... BUT, that is not a requirement on your part, but experimenting on my own. Keep doing what yo...

The soundtrack for a video game I've been working on!

All the synths are from my modular, Moog Grandmother, and Behringer Model D.

Definitely interested in any feedback, as I'm still working to improve my synth skills...

Receiver II Soundtrack

I'm really excited to share with you this video game soundtrack I've been working on. The music (except vocals) was primarily made with my modular, Moog Grandmother, and Behringer Model D. Most of the drones are made with Cš-L, DPO, and Arbhar. Drums are BIA or Rossum Evolution Filter. Arpeggios, me...
