Re: Higher end/vintage small mixers

There are a few Model 1's on Reverb, but a lot of them seem to be too high price. I found one in Canada (where I live) for $3200 CAD / $2300 USD which I thought was a good price. The front panel is a little worn in places but that's fine with me. There is one scratchy pot which I need to replace at...

Re: Higher end/vintage small mixers

I recently got a used PLAY model 1 mixer and so far I really like it! Its expensive as far as DJ mixers go, but in relative terms of getting 6 stereo channels with filters and a sweep 1 band EQ, I think its pretty reasonable. I really like the "drive" feature which gives you a very controllable way...

Re: WMD C4RBN - New state variable filter/wavefolding

Are these on track to have been shipped to vendors on the 20th last week? Everywhere still seems to be in pre-order. We just started shipping a few units last Friday (24th of July), we had a potential COVID case and had to shut down shipping until tests came back (all negative fortunately). We're o...

Noise Engineering has a triple tuner module I really like with a thru - so it's easy to fit into a patch.

Re: Instrou Troika or 3x TS-L

Just a heads up but you’ll prob want to use all 4 outputs of the Harmonaig since the voicing control is primarily directed at the 7th interval output. With only three voices attached and leaving the 7th unplugged, the voicing control is vastly reduced. And choosing between the 3rd or 5th in favour ...

Re: Chord oscillator for pad purposes

Also worth looking into - Xaoc Odessa + Hel for 6-voice polyphonic stacks. Chord oscillators are often frustrating to me. I'm a classically trained pianist so I know how to play chords but having them in some arbitrary order is annoying to me; having to scan through them for the right one. I don't k...

Did they mention if it can handle line level in addition to euro levels? I'm curious if the standalone in the enclosure could effectively be used "semi-modular" with non-euro gear and with euro gear.

Re: Xaoc Odessa, 1975 Variable Spectrum Harmonic Cluster VCO

How are people using their outputs? Are you mixing the root+odds+evens? Or just using one output depending on the texture you need? Some tips from earlier in the thread: * Remember that the root is included in the odd and evens, the root output is more of a convenience for tuning and syncing other ...

I think if steppy was a few hp smaller, it'd be perfect for me. On the other hand, DOT is a tad too small, oof. Looking for a 7hp modules then! :) But I understand what you mean. I’ve been considering both, when I could get a 2nd hand Dot at a reasonable price, I think Steppy is more complete: 64 s...

Re: Xaoc Odessa, 1975 Variable Spectrum Harmonic Cluster VCO

How are people using their outputs? Are you mixing the root+odds+evens? Or just using one output depending on the texture you need? I’m often processing the odd and even separately. Perhaps opening VCAs or filters using separate envelopes triggered by different rhythm clicks. Bouncing from one to t...

Re: Maneco Grone

This thing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al5TKtqpnGQ Sounds fine to me. It sounds a little thin and lacking in body to me. Would be nice for swirling pads, but definitely not a bassy drone. I'd love to be proven wrong though, I -love- that panel design - that's why I was hoping someone here had ...

Anyone have one of these?

https://www.gearnews.com/grone-drone-cl ... one-synth/

Looks good on paper, but there aren't very many demo videos out there. And the few that are seem to be lacking a lot of body and low end, not sure if that's just me though.

It's also possible that the CVs are just stacking notes for detune, which is pretty popular in trance, while the arppeggiation is happening at the MIDI level.

Re: Reverb module for techno kick

I'm not sure I'd use a reverb to "fatten" a techno kick. You end up with this kinda space-y tail that has more mud than body. May I suggest a slow attack compressor? i think its fairly common in techno to use a filtered reverb tail sidechained to the kick to create a sub bass in between kicks, i.e....
