Re: Tayda what is the consensus?
Thinking of buying a load of machined IC-sockets from them, anyone ordered any of those recently? I found that their regular sockets are unreliable. Or so is my experience atleast. The machined ones are great so far. Not a single issue yet. Haven’t tried the regular ones but I agree the machine one...

Re: KNIT - BOM
Follow up q; 4mm 22uF 35V polarized caps seem to be out of stock everywhere. Would it be possible to exchange them for 22uf 25V or 18uF 35V and which one would be be the preferred replacement? If I read the schematic correctly they sit between +/-12V and GND (C4/C5).

KNIT - BOM
I'm trying to source the components for the KNIT module but I'm puzzled by a couple of them. I'd appreciate if someone who's built the module could share a light on these for me :hail: C54 - C61 are labelled ESD. From what I understand 0.1uF caps would work for them. C2 doesn't mention any value, on...

It was a fun challenge to wire it up in such a way that key components were accessible for service, and the main board could still be removed.

Not music tech per se but DIY and at least somewhat related  Got tired of dropping the headphones on the floor so I made a hanger for the keyboard stand. https://v2.pxl.se/i/0H9.th.jpg https://v2.pxl.se/i/0H7.th.jpg https://v2.pxl.se/i/0H4.th.jpg https://v2.pxl.se/i/0HI.th.jpg

Re: have you ever wondered what integrated circuits look like?
The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day... ...I got in. very nice, isn't that Neur...

Re: Erica Synths Multimode VCF (3320) Step by Step
1. Set Cutoff pot to minimum and check TP3 voltage: should be 0V. The same 0V should be on both sides of XS7/XP2 connector (left side of R26). If not, check Cutoff pot. 2. While nothing is connected to the Cutoff 1 CV jack, check TP4 and TP5 voltages: should be 0V. If not, check VD3/VD5 diodes if c...

Re: Erica Synths Multimode VCF (3320) Step by Step
Really nice deep dive, ixtern :tu: I’ve built three modules, and while two of them work nicely, the third one is giving me a real headache :hmm: The symptom is that the output of pin 1 on the TL072 is constantly high (8V), which in case of the LPF means it’s fully closed. I’ve swapped all threeIC’s ...

Re: performer (or is it per|former?) sequencer build
Finished my first Performer last weekend and I must say I enjoyed the build even if I ended up hand soldering it :) Only hit one snag on the way; a bad joint on one of the 4148's. Was gonna add it to my modular grid rack but couldn't find it. Any reason why it's not up there? https://v2.pxl.se/i/0bT...

Re: Kawai K3 won't boot, looking for firmware
I’ve only had (and updated) the K3m and the K4’s, but afaik the fw is different between the keyboard and rack versions. I might have the fw for the keyboard somewhere. I’ll have a look and get back to you. <edit> Apparently I was dreaming  I did have a few links saved but not all of them a...

Re: DIY Mutable Unsuccessful Builds
I also had issues programming my Clouds and though I'd share in case it may help someone. At first I also got the "init mode failed (unable to connect to the target)" error using an ST Link v2 with Olimex JTAG adapter. I begun checking all connections between the JTAG and the STM32 for continuity an...

Re: DIY Mutable successfull builds hall of fame
Third MI build :) Cirrus (Clouds) with Antumbra panel. Had issues programming it at first. Checking continuity and shorts I found a short between the +3V3_A and GND. A quick reflow later and all went smooth  I really enjoy building the Mutable modules :tu: https://v2.pxl.se/i/0bA.th.jpg htt...

Thank you for explaining why
Realized I have to re-stock some of the components so I might as well get the right caps.

About a year has passed since I built my first module. This week I moved from 2x2x84 into a 3x126 from Erica. I know, not really an upgrade in terms of space, but looks more decent :D I’ve built all modules except for 2hp Euclid and the 2600 VCO from Steffcorp. Still consider myself a freshman but a...

Pique and Braids - my first two Mutable builds. Both went well and was up and running on the first try  Only hiccup was getting the Vagrant VS up and running. Took some time and cursing on the way  https://v2.pxl.se/i/0by.th.jpg https://v2.pxl.se/i/0bF.th.jpg https://v2.pxl.se/i/0b...
