Re: Importance of compressor/limiter in feedback path, and options

I like the DPW Triple Limiter for controlling feedback.

Re: DAWless Eurorack Recording -- how do you do it, recorder recommendations?

Yeah I record on my PC as well but generally with Audacity or OBS instead of a DAW. I may use a DAW eventually but so far I haven't felt the need. For now I've just been mic'ing my Peavey amp and the mic goes into the Scarlett interface on my PC.

Re: Mounting Row Power 25 within wooden side of case?

ok thanks, looks simple enough! Are those the only heat sink those power modules have in your rack then (as the rails they are mounted on are not metal)? And I presume they are sufficient in your set up? Yes, they've been sufficient for me. Like I said I also ended up putting heat sinks on two othe...

thanks. how/where did you attach the power module to the heatsink? I used this tape to attach the heatsink: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B075FR45DV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Here's a photo that shows where I attached it: https://i.ibb.co/1r5zXk3/IMG-20200217-201310-b.jpg

Re: Mounting Row Power 25 within wooden side of case?

I have mounted uZeus power supplies outside of a case on 3d printed rails, and I used these heat sinks to help dissipate the heat: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CVTHZ6W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They've worked well for me, in fact, I ended up putting one on each of the...

Re: from the case to the plate :)? One take wonder?

Sure, why not? It's no more difficult than recording yourself playing piano or guitar. The link in my signature is one example. Granted it's less than a minute long but there's no reason you can't record longer tracks. Also there is free, easy to use software like Audacity that lets you multi-track ...

Just received my Miasma + Crime and i love it. I just have a doubt 🤔. When i preset Crime in Diode 1 on both knobs nothig spécial happen. I heard well the increase of distorsions more and more step starting at Diode 2 but looks like putting in level 1 make the sound back to normal... No distorsion ...

Another vote for Instruo Scion, also any of the River modules, also Hikari Attten/Mixer or Ping Filter.

Where the Z-DSP works for me is as a big component of a single sound source - preferably in a patch that focuses on a single evolving sound or at most 2 or 3 sounds. It can almost work as a sound source on its own, especially with the Spring Waves card.
I definitely second this.

Definitely. Two off the top of my head are the Avon Synth (mine goes up to ~57kHz according to my scope) and the Behringer Neutron (up to ~50kHz).

Re: Jove vs Frequensteiner

By "out of hand" I did not mean self-oscillation, and to that end the FS will do that at the highest position. That said, when it does self-oscillate, it does so in a fairly clean, sine-like manner whereas the Jove becomes nonlinear quicker at high res and more sensitive to gain IMHO. The Jove will...

Re: Feedback Modules CP3— Mixer vs Manhattan DTM

I believe the output level knob on the DTM is bipolar, so if you turn it counter-clockwise you will get the inverted output.

Re: Jove vs Frequensteiner

The FS is gentle at low Rez and never really gets out of hand unlike the jove which will at the highest res settings. Both will self-oscillate although I'm not sure either tracks 1v/oct that well. The Jove is probably better in that respect. I'm somewhat puzzled by this statement, as my Jove only f...

Re: Small Filters with Character

Bastl Cinnamon! Really cool little filter. +1 on Cinnamon. Or if you’re looking for something especially weird, Metasonix RK4 or RK6. Go for the 4 if you want a really aggressive resonant bandpass, or the 6 for something more like a lowpass gate— like a very weird Borg filter. +1 on both Cinnamon a...

No, the small knob is the manual crossfade, the big knob is the CV attenuverter.

Re: List of Voltage Ranges of Modules

You might want to include VCAs as well, and for these I would also note how many volts produces unity gain (usually it's ~5V, but I don't think that's necessarily universal). For example here are a few I know: Intellijel Quad VCA: 0-10V, Unity Gain at ~5V (w/ boost switch disabled) Mutable Veils: 0-...

To remove the original knobs... Is there any more subtlety than yanking them off with a pliers? I have some smaller knobs I'd like to use, but these ones seem pretty well stuck on. :despair: I'm pretty certain I just pulled them off with my fingers. Mostly because I know the non-marring pliers I ty...

Re: Mic to audio processing module

If you're not particularly picky about the mic then I would just go with an inexpensive dynamic mic with a 3.5mm plug or 3.5mm adapter and then you can take your pick among amplification modules to boost the signal level up to modular levels.

What issues have you heard for the Behringer envelopes? I've got a Neutron and have never noticed any problems with mine... Double triggers and non-triggering when controlled via MIDI. Seems to depend on the model, with the Model D having one issue, the Pro-1 another, etc, but there are discussions...

Re: How do you feel mid-2020 about cv-equipped (and MIDI to an extent) instruments with your eurorack modules and approa

I got started in eurorack with 4 Behringer Neutrons which I hooked up via midi to my Nord Wave and my Casio digital piano, so for me eurorack was an expansion of my existing setup rather than the other way around. Since then I've gotten a Bastl 1983 as well, but of course now that I've built up my s...

I'm not an expert on reverbs but I have two Z-DSPs and I used to own the Black Hole DSP 2 and for some uses at least the Valhalla room reverb blows away the room reverb on the Black Hole DSP 2 IMO. They're certainly different, I can verify that much.

I've mentioned some in other threads but a couple I haven't really talked about are: DPW Limit L-1 Triple Limiter - Like the Instruo Tanh, this can be very useful for controlling feedback, but doesn't get anywhere near the same level of attention. Granted it's more expensive and 6 hp instead of 4 bu...
