Re: getting them warm vinyl drum beats

I think its real sad that Greg Coleman, doesn't get any $ or even credit from all these people thievin' his Amen drum break. According to Wikipedia he died homeless and destitute in 2006. So I guess its too late to make amends now. However anybody who samples his playing should at least give him cre...

Re: Pittsburgh Modular KB1 Does not Arp to External Clock

Correction on my last post, where I said I couldn't get the KB1 to sync to clock from A-154. I tried it again today and it worked perfectly right away. Great fun to setup a little rhythm on the A-155 gate sequencer. and then set the KB1 to Arp mode with random gates and random trigger bursts. The ran...

Re: Pittsburgh Modular KB1 Does not Arp to External Clock

In an effort to be a bit moreconstructive than my last post, I tried to clock the KB1 to several clock sources with mixed results. It wouldn't sync to a Doepfer A-154 or Pamela's New Workout. But I could clock it with a Plan B Model 15's square wave, so long as it was way down in its subsonic range....

Re: Pittsburgh Modular KB1 Does not Arp to External Clock

I have to admit, I was a bit baffled when I got my KB1 and read in the manual about setting it to divide the clock by zero. I don't think this is even possible. You can't divide anything by zero. It would require finding a number that when multiplied by zero does not equal zero. Good luck with that....

Re: Phaser effect without a phaser module

My understanding is that phaser pedals were designed to simulate the sound of two copies of the same sound playing slightly out of phase with each other so, the first possibility is just detuning a couple oscillators. But phaser pedals simulate this effect by means of very short delay lines which pr...

Re: Behringer Pro 800, Prophet 600 clone

I've had a 600 since 83. Actually pre-ordered from Guitar Center, which somebody at Sequential saidvthey weren't supposed to do, when I called to find out why it was not released by thr initially promised date. I think the guy I spoke to was named Dave. I still wonder whether this was the man himsel...

Re: Buchla 111 Dual Ring Eurorack?

I would be seriousl yinterested in a Euro 111. The first modular I learned on was a Buchla 100 in a cramped little studio at Cal arts many many years ago, before I was able to move up to their massive 200. I remember that ring mod as a real gem. Gimme a couple of sine waves and a 111 and I was happy...

Re: LED patch cables? JackLights?

Update Logsden sent an email saying the cables were shipped and gave a tracking number. So despite their ;pusy web checkout system they are looking pretty good. If anybody decides to order from them, just remember to leave more time than you think it could possibly take to get through the ordering a...

Re: LED patch cables? JackLights?

Just ordered some LED cables from Logsdon Audio. Took a bit of patience since their online checkout seems to be just barely functional. But I eventually managed to place an order. Too bad its so difficult. I'll bet they lose sales to people who lose patience with the checkout process, and just give ...

Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] synthCube acquires Blacet Research

he Mixer-Processor is a great design and very handy. Ive got two that I ported to eurorack myself a few years ago and they get used in just about every patch. I think everybody needs one or two in their rack. Seems to do well running on my Doepfer power supply. I would also like to run my Dark star ...

Thanks for your post, it looks like Logsden are pretty legit. I think I'll order some cables myself, then we can compare notes on longevity.

Re: LED patch cables? JackLights?

I like the idea of led patch cables. seems like they could be very handy, for understanding whats happening in a patch, especially for rhythmic gates and triggers.Plus more blinky lights are always good.A google search for led patch cables turned up a company called Logsden Audio who say they are in...

The comparator method is my favorite. One advantage is that the rhythm rather than being totally random can be in time with a basic underlying pulse. Like good musicians usually play. Also, you can mix the random voltage with the another voltage to give you voltage controlled rhythmic density. /usin...

Great stuff! Any chance you could walk us through what your doing? (ie what modules are making the various sounds, what's sequencing them and how the rhythms are being made. Would be very helpful to a noob like me who's just trying to get a grip on how this stuff works)

gotta worry about the effect a player like Behringer could have on the little oneor two person shops that have been the life blood of the Eurorack renaissance.
