My #1 8S feature request, I think, would be an option to set all the track FX sends to zero
That drives me spare. Whoever made that decision should have to sit in a small brightly lit room listening to ‘Berlin flyover’ for a month.

Re: Dave Smith hint of a new synth coming up in August

I just bought an OB-6, so that should guarantee they announce the OB-12 next week. Unlikely. The OB-12 all ready exists: http://www.vintagesynth.com/sites/default/files/2017-05/oberheim_ob12.jpg I guess Dave Smith might come up with a new OB (probably and hopefully in collaboration with Tome Oberhe...

I love that i can carry it anywhere and use it and nothing else, but then plug it in and control all my hardware. And I like the piano roll paradigm more than the xox+decay paradigm.

Re: A bit of a rant. State of tech in 2020.

I totally dont get this thread w/r/t sequencers. Were spoilt for choice Why does the engine not get more love? It has song mode. Pyramid has seq mode which is basically song mode (but not useful for seamless ‘whole set’) Deluge has 2 song mode (song and arranger) and seamless switching. Mpcs. Maschi...

Re: Headphones 2019 ugh “monitor quality” LOL

Dt770 for overdubs (closed) and dt990 for mixing (open) 250ohm. A bit different but with a ‘family sound’ for sure You can flatten them out in the freq domain with sonarworks reference I like the way they work in the time domain. Translate well. Had them for years, quality is decent if you dont sit ...

Re: Moving from the US: Power Considerations

Another thing to remember is the frequency; in the us its 60hz but most of the rest of the world is 50hz. This will affect motors, fans, etc. Watch out! Not an issue for most audio kit but a big deal for things with ac motors.

Hi all, Can I use the ES3 to keep my modular in sync with my DAW, so sending midi clock from Ableton to my modular through the ES3? Cheers. It works great for that. I send 48ppqn clock over an es3 from live and patch it right into PNW; from there i have a sample accurate synced clock for my modular...

Re: Anybody carrying their gear around on a motorbike? Any tips?

I’ve used my motorbike to get to rehearsals and gigs in london for the last 10 years. Its doable. Heres what i suggest: - keep weight inside the triangle of the wheel hubs and your head. That means strapped to the rear seat like a pillion passenger. The weight will affect your ride a lot less than a...

The MatrixBrute is great....good sound, lots of modulation depth, tons of cv connectivity, and a super immediate and intuitive control panel. Some claim to find the basic sounds ‘harsh’ but i’d say it rewards proper gain staging. But the company Arturia have done f**k all about releasing firmware fi...

This is a great thread.

How are people syncing live and the modular world? Midi sync to a cv/gate sequencer? Expert sleepers?

Im using a usamo out to midi and thence to an engine, but sometimes usamo is fiddly.

Its far and away my favourite synth, mono or poly, with an incredibly wide tonal palette. It rewards gain staging and exploration. The built-in effects are ok but an h9 lives permanently on the outs of mine. The modulation is deep and well thought out. I dont think its ready to use as a midi control...

Usb midi suffers from a lot of jitter problems on most setups. These devices (i use USAMO) give you sample accurate clocking in sync with your DAW. Unless you flood your midi input with messages (as for example from an agressive arpeggiator or cc automation) a midi merge box (whether an external box...
