Re: The Moog One

In a “one year on” one video by that bloke who apparently used to be in jamiroquai and who does YouTube’s in a tracksuit and perhaps a wig This made me laugh pretty hard. Matt´s videos are bomb, though. It is so delightful (ahem, and rare) to see someone test gear, who knows, how to play it. He mad...

Re: End-of-x outputs - musical applications?

Just a tiny fact to keep in mind for looped env, if not obvious: The end of cycle is also the beginning of the next. I hesitate to admit it, because this is obvious once you think of it, but it wasn't obvious to me until you mentioned it. Now I'll never unsee it. A mental block that I didn't know I...

Re: End-of-x outputs - musical applications?

Oh, and also, clock dividing. As most function gennys (as I read here recently) don´t retrigger during the attack phase, you can divide clocks by setting the rise time.

You can also send accents to the decays of your envelopes or Filter Cutoff. Or Filter Cutoff Envelopes.

Re: please critique my dream rack

Well, I think, there was a misunderstanding here. You thought, folks wanna tell you to spend less money, but that is indeed pointless. A lot of money means vastly different things to different people. There are other reasons for the general advice to go slow, though. It will make your output better....

Re: d50 / m1 flute sound

Research the term Karplus Strong synthesis and go from there. It is what the others here have already recommended, too. (and how Uzalla created that nice flute). If you want to go deep, a Mungo d0 will be a treasure trove of sonic variance. If you have Reaktor, check some Feedback patches there, to...

Re: Introducing Maestro - 6 channel clocked modulation controller from Acid Rain Technology

This thing looks so bomb, but then, when I think about it, in 99% of the cases when I design automation lanes in the DAW, I need bezier curves, not straight lines. Are you guys fine with this omission? Or do you send the maestros output through shapers? Since it's 6 channels, tjat would be a lot of...

Re: Studio monitors - what are you using

I recently upgraded from a pair of Adam A77x, that I loved and used everyday during the last four / five years, to a pair of Footprint01 from Barefoot Sound. Boy those are incredible speakers ! My main job is to mix and master music from other people and I was really looking forward using the MEME ...

Re: Why does this S&H patch sound like a human?

Also, you might know this, but if you don´t, it´s worth reading up on what formants are actually referring to. Wikipedia has all the info you need. Then it gets more understandable why you basically just need two resonant frequencies above and in a somewhat realistic (for human mouths) distance to t...

Re: Why are people selling Mutable Instruments?

Are you a judge ordering me to submit evidence? I have better things to do. Jesus it’s a fucking web forum. Relax. That kind of request tends to surface on this forum; when somebody is yanking criticism, against any manufacturer, out of the old kiester. ;) Eurorack is generally not big business. Ma...

Re: Help - Quickstart for Tetrapad and Tete

I found the easiest way for me to learn it was to focus on one thing for a session. For example, one day I would focus on sequencing & spend lots of time trying out different sequences; another day, maybe LFOs. I would resist the temptation to get distracted & just spend a couple of hours on the on...

Re: Please Critique My First Rack

I see some confusion in this thread about the "purpose" of VCAs. Though they are great and most-obviously used for imparting an envelope on a signal, that is not alone why "you can never have too many VCAs". A VCA allows you to modulate any signal by any other signal (well, that's not entirely true...

The -5 to 5 Volt voltage range is hardware and it can’t be changed with a firmware update.
Oh ok. The only solutions I've thought of is to use the Pico MScale or the Intellijel Quad VCA that can boost the signal.

Re: Please Critique My First Rack

• "You can never have too many VCAs!" Bullshit. I have yet to use a single VCA in a patch (ditch your quad—Plaits doesn't need it). Wut? I just read your other thread showing your comparison of your huge row of VCAs, and you seem to have a few more VCAs like Frames and the Javelin and Mod deMix. So...
