Re: Fair price for a 218e??
Really hard to say. It's been said before and I'll gladly repeat, it's the agreed price between buyer and seller. What is it worth to you? How much are you willing to pay? How much of your income is disposable. At the moment they are not being produced. Will they ever be produced again? Who knows.. ...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C
^ as I eagerly await my new Easel Command this is heartening advice. My plan is to start using the unit totally alone for a while...then I'll probably try hooking up my Beatstep Pro. In fact if that plays nicely I'm quite interested in the USB Host port option for the Command to streamline that set...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C
A 208 on its own is already a great and versatile instrument. I find that the 218 (or other controller) is just the icing on the cake. I agree. As a matter of fact, it was the time I sent my 218 in for repair that I really got to "know" my 208. (As if I know the 208...) I am of the opinion that an ...

Re: 208c Audible Click From Pulser (from the board)
I've had this happen on several iterations of the easel. It's not constant and it's not something I'm able to replicate 100% of the time but I have experienced similar to what you describe. I can only confirm that I notice this behavior from time to time, not if it's the way things are supposed to be.

Re: Speaker modules?
My VCS3 used to rattle and grumble through its own speakers in a most delightful way, it used to make the spring reverb quite edgy too Interesting topic. I personally have no need for an internal speaker but the above statement has caught my interest. I have heard that the internal speaker of a vcs...

Re: Do you Sit or Stand?
While experimenting/patching I sit, this can take hours. I just bought myself a drumming chair for the sitting part, great addition. When I get things going and I begin to play said patch I automatically start standing, maybe even a little victory dance if I get in the zone :sb:. Can't really do tha...

Thanks.
I really like your Jungle Jazz performance. I've got a total weak spot anytime anyone takes an easel to Jungle territory.

Charles Cohen at his best.
Come 4:40 dude is going hard, mind blowing. To be honest I'm not 100% sure which gear is being used.. from the sound and feel of it I'm going to assume it's an easel.

Re: Buchla love/hate
Here are some of my thoughts on the subject, for me it is definitely a love/hate thing. But a lot of it has/had to do with a lack of information and knowledge. To give some context, I come from a guitar/bass background playing for years in psych-rock/post-rock bands with lots of jamming involved. S...

Re: Buchla love/hate
One aspect that I'm not so fond of is repairs. If you live overseas, sending things back to BUSA for repair can be a hassle with customs and whatnot. The clones can be frustrating in their own right, especially if you aren't skilled at DIY.

Re: Buchla love/hate
The Buchla has really brought joy to my life. I have an uncanny love for the instrument. The cost seems to be one of the main issues people have with it. It is what it is. Everyone is entitled to build and charge as they please. It is not an item of necessity. I had to save quite a while for my firs...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C
Just tested the iprogram card with the Command and was happy to find out the ipad's 218 is able to control the pitch of the 208c. With prior iterations of the easels you would need a 218e for this. The iprogram card would control the easel's 218e, which in turn would control the 208. I had initially...

Re: Easel Command pitch tracking
I find the 208c Command's pitch to be spot on. With a keystep, using midi I can get it to track seven octaves. As soon as I use the pitch/gate 3,5 mm jack from that backside I get about 5 octaves. Using a 218 with cv in to the 208c I can get it to track 5 octaves. With all of the above there is mino...

Re: Clocking PO32 With Easel EG , using Bastl KLIK
Cool little gadget. Can you explain how the setup works, I'm gonna go on a limb an guess you're using a snappy envelope out to drive the PO32? Are you using cv out or the audio from the easel.

Re: 208 ToolBox and other cards with 208c : yes it works but...
VCS3 Card All features are working. With my buffered 218 patched to the 208c panel keyboard pitch input, it behaves as expected : the scaling is ok and the pitch stays stable regardless of the CO, MO and VCS3 Card key switch setting. Pitch CV via the card connector probably won't work properly if t...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C
This reminds of an often reported issue of the "classic" BEMI Easel units. Maybe the circuit is the same in the Easel Command ? On the bright side, Buchla would only have to replace a single board if this turns out to be a thing. 8-) Pretty sure i'td only be one card for the prior iterations of the...
