Yeah something Serge like the aforementioned VCFQ. The Res EQ (i have a 10hp version) could be an interesting module to complement your other filters, with some feedback to play with.
Wait... there’s a 10hp version of the ResEQ???

Re: Five12 Vector vs Frap Tools USTA

I will add - USTA hits a sweet spot... While many of the high-end sequencers are going after being a hardware version of what I can do in Ableton - I still prefer Ableton. Coming from the other end of the spectrum - Doepfer A-155, Metropilis, Rene2, VoltageBlock - they have a fast, interactive real...

Cool. Of course. But can you do it within René only?
You may want to take a look at the Rene manual. Rene requires an external clock for all sequenced operations, and has no way to multiply or divide an incoming clock pulse.

Re: Frap Tools USTA

Glad you got that sorted! Just to note, although there is no dedicated clock output on USTA, you can create a clock output if you have one of the gate tracks not in use. I often reserve one of the gate outs on track for as a clock output. That's a good point. Even if the stage lengths aren't 1, you...

Re: Noise, S&H and Quantizers are missing from my rack.

Sample and Hold Noise Quantizer Look at the ADDAC 215. It's got a noise output, 2 channel S&H (normalled to the noise), option for track & hold, slew of each channel, and some extras in 6hp. The new Divkid/SSF Rnd Step is also worth a look, though it won't give you a great audio-rate noise. For a q...

Re: Frap Tools USTA

Is this something anyone else has run into? Am I doing something wrong somehow? Here's a video of what's it's doing: That is weird. I've never had that happen with USTA, and I only run it externally clocked from PNW. I really only ever use /2 and x2 of the PNW clock within USTA, so maybe it's an is...

Re: Stillson Hammer MK3?

What did you dislike about the sliders, out of curiosity? I just don't find sliders to be accurate or intuitive when dealing with a multi-octave pitch range. I had the same problem with the Varigate 8+. Both the Stillson Hammer & V8+ have ways to isolate the range of the sliders to minimize the fru...

Maybe this is an indication that something's cooking...
If they are working on a MKIII, I'm hoping they do away with the sliders. I probably would have kept the MKII otherwise.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior from Synth Tech VCOs? Is it possible that I'm just doing something stupid (it certainly wouldn't be the first time)? Just seems odd that it's ONLY the Synth Tech modules and everything else is aces. :hmm: The E352 is probably the most well-designed, solid m...

Re: Smallest Analog LFO (VCOs?)

+1. The Dual VCO goes into LFO territory, 5 seconds a cycle from the manufacturer's website, and is temperature compensated. I am not sure the Skew Fade is temp co'd. The Dual VCO looks really interesting, especially for modulating another dense oscillator like a Rubicon, Generate 3 or ZPO. How is ...

Thanks for checking! I’m using the bipolar since the unipolar always samples from the internal random source. Maybe the problem is just with my unit... will do some more testing and report back... I had completely forgotten the unipolar is always to the pink noise source - thanks for the reminder.

Exactly. That's what's so surprising to me. Maybe I just got a bad unit.... :despair: And just to avoid confusion, I love my other SSF modules. Design is always spot on and never had any issues in the past, so no shadow on the brand and their other stuff. Are you grabbing from the Unipolar or...

That's exactly what I would do. Ts-L is hard to beat, but in the mix, Tona gives you gentler wavefolder, hard sync, and a saw out.

Re: DivKid RND STEP

I’m finding the s&h performance to be pretty poor honestly. Trying to feed a 16 step sequence of pitches and hit it with random but in sync (e.i. Not Euclidean for example) gates to pick up a melody. I find the resulting pitches to sometimes be out of tune, whereas when I perform the same patch wit...

Re: Frap Tools USTA

Setting the glide independent of stage length would be nice but if Im understanding Macios comment correctly then setting it to 50% of the stage would double the speed of the glide? If that's the case then it would definitely help. The red LED "skip" mode for the encoders when editing CV doesn't se...

Ah yeah I think you’re right. The gate turned all the way up ties it to the next step if I remember right. Re: Frap Tools USTA

The way I've used it is: Stage 1: A Stage 2: B, with glide Stage 3: B, no glide That way, you can set Stage 2 to be the length of the glide. Working this way, you obviously lose one of the 16 stages. That’s a good idea. Is there a way to keep the gate open from the previous step without needing to ...

Re: Pam's vs Tempi in 2020

Do you know how to program non-integer divisions and multiplications in Tempi? Like 5 gates per each 2 clock pulses. You can do /5, and x5, but that is relative to each clock pulse of the "main" tempo. You could run the main clock at half speed, then have one channel set to x2, and other set to x5....

Re: 3 VCO Suggestions?

You’re finding triangle/saw/square to be as-or-more-useful than sine waves for modulating the Generate 3? What about the static-ness of those waveforms (I guess you could PWM the square wave)? I would think the STO and Mangrove offer far more waveforms than a Dixie: you’ve got sine triangle and squ...

I don't think either the STO or Mangrove (I had them both for ...

The only digital module that I've used where I don't mind the lack of a screen is Quadrax. Can't say exactly why, but I just found the physical interface very intuitive after a couple uses.
