Re: Do house/techno artists/labels release 7” singles?

It can definitely be done, but like I said takes a real artist. We can’t all be Mark The 45 King :hihi:

Re: Do house/techno artists/labels release 7” singles?

12”s are just so much easier to mix & blend. It takes a real artist to work with 7”s. Reggae DJs are wild.

Re: Loooooong cable

Now for the question I probably should have started with where can I get such a long cable or would I have to make it? https://www.allelectronics.com/item/cb-3510/10-cable-w/3.5-mm-mono-plug-both-ends/1.html This is where I got mine. Only gotcha is that the barrels on the plugs are a little large s...

Re: Loooooong cable

I actually have some ten foot 3.5mm cables from allelectronics - they work no problem for euro level signal, whether cv or audio, no interference or signal droop. I would imagine the results would be less stellar with line level audio.

Was looking to make something similar after making my clock divider.

Is this your own design? Did you make it with the 2N2222a? Those are only in metal can and pretty pricey at Mouser.

Solderd in all my resistors last night after a cup of coffee Have a MOD reverb tank on the way Any tips in the build? Need to see if I can scrounge up some sockets for the TL047 Ics Any one consider swapping these out for higher quality op amps? Definitely socket the 074s. I can’t speak on how swap...

Probably wouldn’t have the patience for the nested menus and learning shift keying stuff. In the interview he did for the latest Tape Op I guess he got so bored he lit his own shoes on fire. Dude has a thing for lighting shit on fire, so maybe he would do that.

Re: Where to get blank panels cheap?

I’m fond of Syinsi - aka muffs user THX2112 - nice brushed aluminum or you can get them in black. He’s based in canada so shipping is fairly pricey. https://syinsi.com/Shop/panels/ You can get panels pretty cheap from Michael Barton too, although those usually have a pretty rough finish. Lots of dif...

My uncle had a copy of the Stan Getz album Captain Marvel that’s been a favorite since I was a teenager. Came across a copy of The Mad Hatter a few months ago at the flea market, that’s had a few spins, pretty weird record. Always been a fan of the Romantic Warrior album (another record I inherited ...

Re: dated contemporary music that sounds like a cliche or fetish

My beef with the John Maus stuff I’ve heard is that the vocals are buried under so many FX that they almost sound like a washy VA synth or something - at that point, why even write lyrics? Basically the same thing my elders used to say to me about a lot of the punk & hardcore stuff I grew up listeni...

Re: budget Grooveboxes w/ sample editing

MPC500? They’ve been trending around $200 and lower the last few months on reverb. Basically an mpc2kxl that can sample its own output, minus a couple of sequencer things (program change and sysex editing IIRC).

I’ve seen a couple of these cases pop up on reverb with non-working midi I/O, probably the same issue. IIRC the bundle comes filled out with blank panels, likely to prevent exactly this from happening.

Thanks for all the replies. I have the black barcode PCBs, VCOs rev 1.3 and Driver rev 1.1. All from 2014. Has anybody had problems with these particular boards or shall I stick to the relevant BOMs? It looks like there's definitely scope for solder bridges, for the trannies in particular. It's tig...

Re: Living VCO, anybody using 2 x modules?

Finally, the Living VCO build thread is a daunting read at 25 pages long and 600+ posts. Is it necessary to read through the entire thread for modifications etc or has all of this been summarised elsewhere that I can't find? Can’t answer this question without knowing which version you have. I built...

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

Been waiting until I had time and motivation to pick up some shears and flashing for making brackets. I feel dumb that I’ve waited so long, because it gives stripboard builds a *much* nicer finish and is not hard. I do need to rig up some kind of aluminum break though... My first Finished bracket-mo...

Getting ready to build the smaller YATMA2. Does anyone have a BOM or Digikey/Mouser cart for this thing they can share? I just went through the schem and made a list. The only weird thing is the USB port - the one Tayda has in stock fits it: https://www.taydaelectronics.com/usb-type-b-female-connec...

Re: Dreadbox Antiphon DIY kit

The filters are not resonant whatsoever. I get the feeling they’re really only there to tame the reverb feedback - which they do a great job of, otherwise the high and low end of the feedback dominate the output. This way you can get some wild and meaty reverb drones going without wrecking your hear...
