Re: Double Andore MK2 Discontinued?

Yeah they can take a while to pop up as there don't seem many out there in the wild, and the people that do have them tend to not want to let go of either the mkI or mkIIs. I waited easily a couple weeks for a mkII to show up and snatched it, and I'd imagine that might sometimes be months of waiting...

Re: Filter Hunt

There are so many possible suggestions, this could go on forever. To me the filters I'd look at would be for classic stuff VCF-74 , System 80 Jove or AJH Gemini. However with the Minimod you've already got classic down, so maybe something more radical and modular-y to complement it. Maybe try lookin...

Re: Will I miss Maths?

If you had some particular self-patched/wonky combination use of Maths that you can't reproduce currently without it maybe reconsider, but if you're seeing/using it as little more than two LFOs/envs with some attenuverters then there are definitely other options. I started with a Maths but by the ti...

Re: I'm sorry, really, but I'd like your opinions re QPAS or Stereo Dipole or Parallax

Out of those the Stereo Dipole is by far, far far the versatile/capable one. QPAS overall behaves much more like one filter than four; Dipole behaves like two twin peaks sandwiched around a central freq/res/FM, totally different really. But do you like how it sounds? I really really like the QPAS' i...

Re: 0 coast and SV-1b, silly noob question

Yes that works, but be careful as Euro level is not normal line level at all and runs very hot, so beware not to fry anything by going straight out the rack at max level into something delicate with 0 attenuation; you'll need to quiet it down somewhere along the way more likely than not.

Re: Grayscale Microcell vs Monsoon, what is the difference?

They're both Clouds-based but in a sentence Monsoon is more of just a mini Clouds (often with the Parasites firmware installed, only you can also put that on a clone/factory Clouds too), with a slight bit extra convenience added in some attenuators on some of the main sound-sculpting parameters. Mic...

Re: which ARP filter ?

I have a Tonus (the 4012-based one), might just be my unit but it's a bit hissy/noisy; you won't notice it while actually running audio through, so I'm not sure if the actual one in the 2600 is like that and you just don't hear it behind oscs / closed VCAs. It improved a bit after calibrating it but...

Re: Guidance on first modular system

Whenever you can fit one maybe consider a timbre shaper/wavefolder - there are a variety to choose from such as MI Warps, SSF Ultrafold, Intellijel uFold or maybe wait for their upcoming Bifold which looks super great. If you can find the room to get one of the bigger ones like the Toppobrillo Tripl...

Re: Intellijel Rubicon 2 vs SSF Zero Point Oscillator

Having heard Basari's comparison between the two honestly the ZPO seems to do not just good on "through zero" however you'd define/qualify it, it audibly handles it better than Rubicon when pushed to the limits. ZPO also has a peculiar sync sound that's quite quite pleasing compared to Rubicon's. I ...

4ms Rotating Clock Divider is like having a little string of laser christmas lights aimed at your eyes, and Mutable Stages looks pretty cool more often than not in action, especially with most of them set to LFO mode. They both happen to also be cheaper and extremely-useful modules to boot. Some oth...

Re: Analog Oscs with CV over Waveform Shape

Pittsburgh Lifeforms Primary Osc has a couple CV-able forms, although it's a wonky module overall with things like "blade" (trapezoid) and "fragments" waveforms along with a wavefolded one ("timbre"), however its quirks are precisely what make it so likable to me.

Re: Picking a Function Generator

All those aspects of the Falistri were what caught my eye / Do you find the tiny switches hard to use? They're rather sturdy and have a nice solid feel and "click" to them. So basically not at all as you can easily just feel you're in the middle position on them to move between AR or ASR modes. Whi...

Re: Picking a Function Generator

Falistri has replaced my Maths if that's any indicator of how I feel. Not like Maths is bad, in fact I kind of miss how easy it feels to work it, it's one of the most buttery best-feeling modules out there in how it responds. However side-by-side I can get the same snap out of a Falistri, it just ta...

Re: Lineal VS Switching Power Supply Sound Quality

On the one hand it's famous how astoundingly overpriced audio gear can get if someone holds a bottleneck position, so it makes sense to me that the "high end" components actually don't really cost that much a difference and those premiums are in large part fancy materials, labor, marketing and heavy...

Re: CS80 type filter that's smaller than the Studio Electronics one

Technically the real CS-80 uses two layers of HP into LP, all with their own resonance so it's really more like four filters. As in, you'd actually need two Deckard's Voices or two SE-88s to have approximately "the" sound, and if you were already looking for something sub-20 HP, maybe the only way t...

Looks extremely solid and clever. It seems the Fold knob hits both types of folders at once though; the only way to control them individually is via CV it looks like?

Re: Your favourite traditional LFO and VCO shape?

Sine for LFO just overall because it just takes no effort to make it work for basically anything. If you can sync or delay them saw also can do some very cool stuff, it's just not plug-and-play like sine. For VCO probably square out of the basic shapes. Technically I might instead say sine because o...

Re: Weird LFO options?

First I'll just get the Malekko Quad LFO out the way because it is in a word, a weird LFO. It has a distort mode which adds all sorts of artifacted/noisy/glitchy characteristics to the LFOs, it also can save states to steps and march on its own (clocked that is) along a sequence of different LFO sta...
