Re: Need plain-vanilla multi-LFO for panning—most bang-for-the-buck?
Not sure if it's been mentioned but Mutable Stages does a lot more than just regular LFOs, and you get up to 6 of them possible. I'd consider its other functions as bang for buck. If you want literally nothing but basic LFOs the Instruo Ochd as 8 in 4hp probably is worth a look too. Lastly Ornament ...

Re: Disting Mk5?
The EX came out really not long ago at all; I'd think ES wouldn't want to cannibalize their own sales of it with a replacement so soon. That being said due to the screen needing to be at least a minimum size to be legible I don't see it as likely a 4hp version will come out soon. There is only maybe...

Re: Mutable Rings VS Qubit Surface
Surface seems perhaps better-suited to percussion I think, although as was said because it can't actually input sound to process it as an effect like Rings it's fundamentally limited. A lot of people only pluck the Rings anyway however so I suppose if that's all you intend on it's not as obvious a c...

Re: troubleshooting mantis power issue?
It's probably that -12. Anecdotally those always run way under the rated specs before they start to bug out just from what I've seen. If the case is still sometimes running or mostly-running fine then you're probably right at the cusp of its limits. If you can bear unplugging one of the ones sapping...

Re: Beyond frustrated with my Mantis
It sounds difficult to max out a Mantis' power as it's in fact ultra-beefy if I remember correctly. I guess it's not impossible though. It does sound like a problematic module indeed, but if it's not that then perhaps the PSU could be the issue.

Re: minimal behringer moog set and does it work with others
As was said, some things about the Moog 900 series clones are quirky and not instantly-compatible with normal Eurorack gear, namely the S-triggers + the fact that the small oscillator (921A+B) needs a separate controller module, these are both bizarre things by modern standards but it's authentic to...

Re: Patchable filters!
Stereo Dipole, in addition to being an amazing filter, has 11 CV ins to boot. I don't know how easy it'd be to find something more patchable; it's especially amenable to self-patching I think. Also the Bionic Lester mkIII is worth a look; I seem to be unable to stop mentioning it but it's for good r...

Re: Sequencer less than 30hp?
Voltage block is awesome in being 8 channels of 16 steps in 20hp and is rather simplistic overall. However I find fiddling with it on the sliders for adjusting the notes is pretty annoying for dialing in sequences, and generally use it for CV modulation (which is primarily what I intended with it an...

Re: Patching the modular in semi permanent way?
It seems a fundamentally implausible thing to me to do as I have too many different oscs/filters etc to consider even leaving a couple basic things like pitch or envelopes generally permanently-patched. Maybe in a small system where the filter/VCO/envelopes never change much, can I see some essentia...

Frap Tools Sapel, which is directly inspired by the 266 and is somewhat like having two them, in fact. Excellent module / manufacturer as well.

Re: Ideal balance of VCAs in larger setups
I have about 1100hp currently and have an Intellijel Quad VCA, a 4ms VCA Matrix and a Happy Nerding 3x VCA for them, so 11 total as straight-up VCAs. However, if you count LPGs as like a type of VCA it's more like 16 (LxD, RxMx, Synthrotek LPG). There's also a Verbos Scan & Pan which can be used as ...

Re: The pain of getting brutal with your rack ...
I had a giant buildup going for years and hadn't ever sold anything, and over time accumulated a list of modules I literally was never using besides once in a blue moon as almost delusion on my part that they belonged there. Have you ever had the notion of "I'll really sit down with that one some da...

Re: How fragile are trim pots?
They tend to all feel about the same, being that they're sticking straight up out the PCB and aren't bolted to the faceplate. However as far as I've known aren't actually that delicate; I've never broken one or even heard of that happening (although I'm sure someone's done it). The pots they're conn...

Re: Modules similar to Mutable Instruments Stages?
Stages is sort-of like a function generator, or at least a really configurable one that's at the same time more erm, functional than DUSG-styled ones in theory, but also lacks some other functions/general inclinations for uses and patching. So out of that you'd be looking at something like Maths or ...

There’s sounds all in the video. Check out those new modules! Dual dynamics, Primary Oscillator B, mixer at the bottom right, distortion, and a few other unlabeled things or unfamiliar modules to me. Re: ALM Squid Salmple - 8 channel CV and audio sampler
X'thing the suggestion for an expander for this. I mean it's got a connector waiting for one in the back anyway; I suppose it's just a matter of time and I think this thing has already gotten crazy-awesome enough from updates alone. I always liked this thing a lot but it's almost getting to the poin...

Re: Mutable Instruments Blades
Seems nice enough but basically the only thing neat to me is the ability to continuously sweep between serial/parallel instead of it being a toggle. Continuous CV/morph between filter modes modes is rare but not unique (MMG, BL mk3, Koma SVF etc), however a sweep between a drive and a folder is quir...

I then take the output of the character channel into a second channel and then audio rate pan it using yet another output of the character channel. Then back into the aux input...

Re: Essentials to go with Morphagene?
As had been said but to recant a bit it really depends what samples you're running in ultimately. However I'd think the default setup to really make the most of it would be stereo everything in the signal path, and something with lots of modulation for it - batumi/ochd/stages/kermit/zadar etc. Filte...

Re: Best EQ module to clean up lo-fi/noisy sources? Or go out-of-rack and use a parametric EQ?
Cleaning up noise? Try Soundsoap. As others have said, for straight-up regular EQ work probably just use a rackmount or DAW/VST solution. For overall working with lo-fi sources I just filter them to round them off; usually a solid 4-pole 24db will do the trick. Personally I really dig that crunchy a...

I had a Shelves for a little while and it was pretty good, although I must say it was slightly noisy as well. I also have a Serge Res EQ and it's really quite different from Shelves in usage because obviously it's a full on filterbank vs parametric, no VC anything, but most key are its feedback soun...

Re: Steady State Fate Vortices - Mono + Stereo Mixer w/ Tape Sim
Interesting module, although it looks like it'll take a lot of steps to demonstrate all of its potential features/routing and lots of A/B'ing it with more standard/clean mixers. I like the description of it on paper but would need to hear its various quirks maxed out on signals to really get a feel ...

Re: What VCAs do you prefer for attenuating/modulating CV?
4ms VCA Matrix for combining/modulating CV; last I checked it's still the most flexible option of its kind really. It's one of the best modules ever IMO as long as you can comfortably fit in its chunky hp.
