Re: Moog CP251s: Keep or sell to buy modular LFOs?
CP251 is great and essential to getting the most out of my moogerfoogers, but i will agree with the others above. If you don't plan to get moogerfoogers than i would sell it and buy the eurorack functions you need to replace it.

Re: Cheapest damn way to play a sample?
Personally I have had no problems with the 2HP play and find it works fine for many simple sample playback needs. Beyond this is I recommend the Disting since it can do the stereo you need. I keep mine loaded with a big folder of ambient background sounds.

Re: Utility modules that make you happy?
I second the Antumbra ATN8. Enough channels to cover the needs of a large rack and with so many normalized channels it helps function as a decent mixer and voltage source. For other low cost space saving utilities I always go with Siam Modular takaab modules. Another favorite is the Ladik U-070. Its...

Re: Disapointing Modules
Intellijell µMIDI... Its just so disappointing to me that when i do not use Midi the module is completely useless although it could easy function as a clock source or divider or even some kind of a sequencer/turing machine....Something!!. I have sent a request to Intellijell for this but since the n...

Re: mini mic into Eurorack
Anyone know about a cheap monophonic lapel/lavalier mic that DOES work with standard eurorack inputs? as in no plug in power (phantom/low dc voltage). most lavalier mics are condensers. backed up by this thread here. https://www.gearslutz.com/board/all-things-technical/627986-lavalier-mics-dynamic-...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas
1hp scroll !!!! with module charts (disting etc.) just hope it doesn't jam up and you got this sheet of vinyl dangling from your patch the whole time..... hmmm or maybe more realistically just a notebook holder. Ribbon controller would be great. Radio receiver is good. Bluetooth receiver also good. ...

Re: King of the Hats
I love the Meng Qi Karp as hi-hat. It has decay that gets pretty short so you only need a trigger to get going. I do wish the decay got shorter and it doesn't have much variety ( at least for hi-hat sounds). I wouldn't call it king but the typical hi-hat sound it does make is really pleasant.

Re: Dub / Reggae Throw backs/ devastating jams
Huge Scientist fan but .... having sort of "worked" with him before, I've had to question that. It was interesting to say the least. I have tons of favorites in the Dub Reggae category and a bunch of them have been listed already but this one has always been the stand out for me. The delay and echo ...

Re: Simple video for a simple little piece I made.
The simplicity is great and I appreciate that you're playing all the notes live! Having the bass on the left sequencer and melody on your right turns this into a really strange kind of keyboard and it looks really fun to play on!

This is really fun! I really enjoy all the movement and a couple times you get thrown around so much that when there is these suspended moments happening, like the middle of Shizzo or beginning of Bell its almost a religious experience haha. Tasteful sounds (esp Gensy! would love to know how those v...

Tommy's Exp. Hip-Hop and Ambient Modular Videos
To be honest Im not focused on any genre in particular but you check out some of my live modular tracks and categorize them in whatever way you want. I'm based in Bangkok, Thailand and I've been a primarily live musician for almost 15 years doing whatever i can from guitar soundscapes to dub enginee...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"
Wait a minute though, wasn't the OP commenting on these videos from a modular synthesis point of view rather than a musical one? That's how I read it. Whether or not these videos contain any worthwhile/interesting synthesis is a considerably narrower debate :) Sure it would be more helpful to look ...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or
Does this mean that exported audio wave files from Ableton won’t work? Because I did that and they are working fine. :hmm: What are you guys using for batch samples conversion? How do I check if sample is float or integer? I use Adobe Audition. It does a great job with batch processing audio (detai...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"
Telling someone to stop playing rings into clouds is like telling a musician to stop playing a dx7 or mc505. They happen to be the instruments/sounds of our time. The ones who are in it for that (and maybe even myself) will eventually move to something else when modular is not the fad. I think the u...

Re: Feeling outdone by natural sounds
Lovin' this thread. Probably a good time to mention David Dunn a sound artist and student of Henry Partch. He has done a great deal of research and experimentation with natural sounds, audio manipulation and synthesis. He released some important albums in this field including Angels And Insects (199...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or
okay that makes sense. does this include the preset files or only wav files? thanks!
also getting close to 1000 seems to take a very long time to load even though the files are mostly very short samples. Any ways to format my samples to speed this up?

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or
I tried to read everything in this thread but it got a bit out of hand. Anyone having issues with maximum amounts of files per folder? I've managed to get something like 900+ files to read in one folder but after that files seem to be missing (as it the file is there but not recognized by the A8). I...

Pico Seq Default Settings?
Is it possible to change/save the default startup settings on the Pico Seq? I've tried saving to various banks but but pico seq doesn't seem to load up to a bank. At the moment it powers up with 8 octave range and no quantization and this is a bit too wild for me. Having a hard time sending a "ticke...

Figured I should share my little mini (mostly Ladik) "helper" rack. A few nice utilities and such that were not 100% necessary and taking up space in my performance case. The best part is it runs on USB and can be powered directly from my 1u usb module. The downside is a limited amount of power so h...

Also a Ladik lover over here! I recently picked up a U-070 Gate/Tap module from gridrunner and I must say its an incredibly handy module for its price and size. You can use it to manually fire off a gate or triffer, you can use it as a make shift clock with tap tempo, and even use it to divide and m...
