Re: Timing and control between modular (CV), non-modular (MIDI), and a DAW

I use expert sleepers es-3 ( the adat one ) out of my RME pcie AIO card on my pc. I have an erica synths clock 2 module as well as a nerdseq. I have a lot of midi synths and semi modular and a little bit of eurorack I send clock out from my daw using audio into the clock in of the erica clock and th...

Re: Sequencer with unquantized recording...

i am working on a DIY midi file player and recorder but I have no plans to do anything but post the code and specs to github I have used an MPC 4000, an MV8800, and currently an MC909 for unquantized recording and playback of sequences. I was going to get a cirklon but step squencers worry me and it...

Re: My DIY circlone, midi player thing

Sounds cool, follow your passion. Perhaps a way to mute the individual midi tracks/ channels or live filter the midi data so the device gives the user some hands on performance aspects..? Yes once you start thinking of other convenience or performance features, it is hard to stop. I am thinking I m...

My DIY circlone, midi player thing

So for the past couple of years since i got back into making electronic music i have been wanting a midi device that has some specific features that would cater to my most common overall workflow. I have a few hardware synths, the number has fluctuated between 8 and 14 counting my PC. I have never f...

Re: Kurzweil Midiboard Overhaul

My issue with my midiboard is the felt on the keys. 500 or 600 dollars to service it. Not a frequent event but only a piano guy is willing to try it.

Re: Audiointerfaces with lots of inputs

A Motu lp32, a Motu 8pre-es and three 8 channel ADAT preamps into those. My pc has an rme pcie interface which facilitates analog and digital io to and from the daw. A Mac mini is nominally connected to the 8pre-es but I only really use it to tweak the Motu mixer and rarely to record stems. Use an ...

Re: ROM-pling and the DAW-less studio

Have been through quite a few Romple type synths. Had a ton of Emu stuff and am in the midlife of selling it off. Only two The best garden and composer rom, and the blessed p2500 remain and hopefully sell soon. The surviving romplers are the Kronos the EX5r and the k2600rs. Sold and integra even tho...

Re: New Happy Nerding FM AID module I think many will like!

I throw all kinds of stuff through it, digital synth audio out, pulse 2, EX5r, MatrixBrute, system 1m, and out the modulation out from the MatrixBrute into the cv mod hole, and then jam all that back into the external audio in on the MatrixBrute. It turns my grab bag of synths into a betterized meta...

Re: When do you think hybrid users will have more options for stable MIDI clock?

I have the expert sleepers ES-3 a nerdseq, an Mc-909 and some various other gear. A trick I did today that I am pretty happy about. I created two drum track in Ableton, one for clock and one for reset. I played an audio sample that makenoise recommended as adequate for a clock signal from the drum t...

I had one and loved it except noise which would not go away. It was awesome and compact, too bad about the noise on my unit.

Re: New AKAI "FORCE" standalone MPC / grid controller

Yeah you've got to believe Ableton is looking at or working on some form of standalone Push hardware. Max for Live in a hardware standalone box would be insane...... It would be, and I don't think it would be that much of a stretch since m4l is deeply tied in with ableton. I mean, that should be ea...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

One trick that I have managed to bring over from Renoise is using the groove to set a higher "resolution" for the Trigger Expander. Instead of having 6 ticks per step you set it to 3, that way you've got a higher resolution related to the rest of your tracks. I've not experimented with it a huge am...

Oh! In the manual: "CC Mapping → A set of Midi-Controllers is mapped directly to functions inside the NerdSEQ. The CC Mapping is not implemented yet but scheduled for the next version." :omg: :omg: :omg: Yep, mainly because i want to make it very flexible and not via a fixed set of Midi CC. They ar...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

I bought the nerdseq. I am a bit cautious about a sequencer with steps and a limit to the length of a pattern. But I have other sequencers that don’t have these limits and I am hoping that I can use the nerdseq to make mostly rhythmic patterns to add to my current songs. It looks like it has a lot ...

Re: Expert Sleepers ESX-8MD MIDI/DINsync Expander released

My transition to Cubase has stalled, its just too easy to use FL studio. Enough things are hard, FL is easy. I have been using the ES to drive a sample module from squarp, it seems to work well. I need more outputs and maybe another pcie interface.

Re: Squarp Rample

I own a rample and it’s pretty good. I am using it for the drum voice for some rhythm based music and sequencing it from the PC using the ES5 or 6 or whatever through ADAT. It’s good for that limited but important role but I wonder if I want melodic sample playback would something like the assimil8o...

lp32 has the most outs, and it is cheap-ish, you are not paying for extra IO besides ADAT

Re: Microvolt 3900 build quality, sound, stand-ins

I spoke too soon. Huge crackling when turning several pots, and thereafter, noise and signal fluctuations. Jacks that go in an out when they are nudged.

And it is very very noisy. I am going to give this away, maybe just send it to Pittsburgh and let them have it. An expensive mistake.

Re: Settings for ES-5 & ESX-8MD in FL Studio 20

As a mostly FL studio user and as-of today a new ES-3 / silent way owner, this post baffles me. It’s going be a very long journey just to get a couple channels of tight rhythmic tracks from my rample. I don’t even understand the relationship between channels in voice control versus ADAT channels yet...

Re: Microvolt 3900 build quality, sound, stand-ins

I bought another one and it doesn’t have the same problem. It makes the bass sound I need so I am happy, and controlling it with the MatrixBrute and my ES-3 is really good.
