Re: How to mish-mash your mono synths into a playable poly?

I have a midigal that does this, it dkes a good job of making poly voice allocations to separate midi outs. It also does other useful things so it's generally good to have

Re: Never meet your heroes

I feel lucky reading this. I have turned around a lot of gear the last year and a half since I got serious about playing keyboard. But nothing heroic. My Integra, Kronos and matrix brute are my biggest single purchases and I still have them. They were selected for overall utility, and they have deli...

Re: NerdSEQ Portable

I am excited about this tool. I have never successfully gotten my modular career off the ground so this looks more suitable for me. Question - can the NerdSeq load and play midi files say from my computer? I currently push SMF files to my MPC 4000, which acts as my final midi sequencer with sufficie...

Re: Volca at NAMM 2020

Second to Yamaha in what way? Organs? Montages? They beat Yamaha in Kronoses. They seem about equal on arrangers, with Yamaha having a higher end offering if I am not mistaken. All Existing volcas seem to trump all existing refaces summed together in features or units sold? But yes Yamaha seems to b...

The TR-909 is not really a good master sequencer because the midi out functionality is quite limited - you only get 16 notes of fixed length over 1 midi channel.
Ok strike that one I never used it

My se-02 is coming off the shelf to assist my new MatrixBrute via CV/gate! I knew there was a reason I kept it. The hard part is going to be when you realise the SE-02 sounds better than the MatrixBrute... :deadbanana: Oh snap! Instead of the emoji we should write the name of the emoji it's more in...

Thanks for the input. I realised that a couple of other items that have passed through may hands Support being addressed as a mass storage device - the MPC 4000 and the Fantom X. Also a sequencer that I never owned, the Roland 909. The requirement is that the instrument should be capable of performi...

this is a really nice demo, but I've got to say ( again - sorry ! ) having spent quite a bit of time playing both at Synthfest, the Hydrasynth was a much, much better sounding synthesizer. Plus better interface, deeper features & far superior construction etc. I guess that's why it's quite a lot mo...

looked at MV-8800 specs. 48 x 48 x 13,5 cm, 9 kg. definitely not a box i would tour with, especially if i'm not a superstar, and especially in 2019 (and low cost airlines will only cut down allowed luggage sizes more and more). on the other hand, 707 was instant (almost impulse) purchase for me, be...

Still no match for my old MV8000. Now that is a real sampler/sequencer/groovebox. All Roland need to do is issue a smaller, modern version of it with inbuilt screen. yes the problem has literally already been solved in the MV, all it needed was successive spec refreshes and the benefit of better an...

I just preordered an ES-9 from control, very happy that I don’t have to buy like and entire new presonus quantum just to do modular. I like buying something purpose built from a company who knows the problem space well.

load files to sequencer via USB?

Hi, I am searching for a sequencer to which I can connect my computer directly, preferably over a USB connection. Basically i want to mount the sequencer like a drive in my computer, and edit (midi) files on the sequencer directly. So two devices I can think of which can accommodate this to some ext...

Re: Musical evolution update

The next, perhaps crowning indignity will be when my piano teacher approves my transition to jazz. Are you doing any chord drills? 2-5-1s etc? Shells/guide tones? Around cycle of 5ths? It's transformed my playing and my ear particularly chord improvisation. My hands find interesting places to go al...
