Re: Best midi guitar integration
TriplePlay is, by all accounts, the most robust system available. That should tell you how far things have developed, lol. I've tried Roland, Fishman, JamOrigin, Terratec Axon, etc and results are uniformly in the range of 'this could be so much better'. Once calibrated and set to POLY mode, TripleP...

I used a 112 clone as manual controller for a while with Serge. Reliable and simple.

Re: What is the most random, random-generator still in production?
What I have yet to discover is a random sequencer module that allows you to weight the probability of different interval classes. In my opinion, the avoidance of localized implication of tonal center through interval choice is more of what gives serialism it's characteristic sound, rather than larg...

Re: What is the most random, random-generator still in production?
Frankly, this is all starting to sound like a job for Max/MSP. Since we're talking about wish fulfillment, I think it could be fun to incorporate some other Serialist constraints. Rules about consecutive intervals, like avoiding ascending fourths or descending fifths because they imply a pitch cent...

I believe Andrew prefers the R7 Envelope Generator over the DUSG. I think the CTG design involves some sort of cross-coupling, too(?) … no need for another DUSG variant

Re: Analogue computation
any chance of reviving this thread? I’m also very interested in this approach within a modular synthesizer system and desire much more ‘atomic’ function blocks such as those indicated above for synthesis of dynamical systems. The composer David Rosenboom attempted to commercialize a system of this s...

Eastwood and Gold Tone both make them—single or double-coursed string versions, respectively. There used to be a great company from Maine called Earnest Instruments but their site seems to be offline. Joel Eckhaus was the luthier.

Ian, you are a legend. Thank you for sharing these works. I thought I might've been the only one with a mutually intense interest in the seemingly incompatible fields of chaotic sound synthesis and baroque counterpoint.

Re: Ensemble Oscillator from Matthias Puech & 4ms Company
Thanks for your reply. So, once a "scale" is defined, the order of the interval series belonging to each scale is fixed as linear? e.g. Scale #1 is [0, 1, 3, 4, 6, 7], 12TET. With modulation applied to Root or Pitch offsets, could the order be changed to [4, 7, 6, 0, 3, 1] then [4, 0, 1, 6, 7, 3] th...

I'm hoping my question will deflate suspicions of this being little more than a Fourier-based arpeggiator, which is sort of what it seems like based on reading the manual.

Re: Ensemble Oscillator from Matthias Puech & 4ms Company
Is it possible to modulate the sequence/order/series of the harmonics? Am I correct in understanding the “Root” offset controls the ordering position of a harmonic degree, with modulation resulting in various inversions and permutations of the “scale” degrees? Or is this affected by the “Pitch” offs...
