Re: radio stations for techno music?

Yeah, spotify aren´t a radio station in classical terms. However, depending on what you´re looking for, I find them quite useful. Pretty much replaced my radio habits, unless I want some discussion or artist interviews. Since we´re talking techno, and this is a definition as precise as rock music, a...

Re: Picking out my third sequencer.

Whatever you pick, take a close look at sync options first! Sync as in 1. tempo 2. position. I´m in the middle of sorting out how get all my sequencers to cooperate and it´s not as nice as in MIDI world. Some of them don´t have reset out, others lack support of certain ppqn modes, it´s a hassle. I n...

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases

What´s best practice when using multiple mantis cases? Especially with cross patching between cases? I think of places where ground hum could creep in and how to avoid that. While a monster case sounds tempting, it´s not so tempting for travel :)

Re: Hocketing in Eurorack

The idea is to play with different methods and see which ones I like best. So everything between emulating an intellijel shifty for standard, mono-poly like lines to any odd voice assignment you could come up with. CV assignment sounds tasty and the 152 is well within the budget, I´ll give it a try....

Re: Hocketing in Eurorack

That´s worth a try, since I own a FH-2 already. My plans were to just use it for MIDI Controller -> CV conversion, but I´ll look into it. Other options may be to build a hocketing patch from scratch, but that will ask for a boatload of modules. Depending on what the voice is supposed to do, I may ge...

Re: Eurorack Mixers; How did you decide on your mixer?

I first wanted to keep everything in Eurorack format and was 50-50 between WMD and Befaco. Decided to go with the WMD, as it offered more CV control, channels, plus I liked the faders better. However, I soon found out that the lack of EQ is a bigger issue than expected and I could use some more chan...

Re: BEGINNERS - What have you always found to be poorly explained?

I found the whole timing and synchronisation options topic to be an unexpected source of trouble. Having multiple sequencers within Eurorack -> different sync options, different implementations (rise/fall), run/stop, reset i/o options (and when resets are sent) etc. How clock actually works, multipl...

Re: Allen Heath SQ-series?

Quick update: Still had my concerns about the SQ MIDI implementation and overall usability concept when a used MixWizard WZ3 crossed my way at a very attractive price point. So I got that one and now I´m a happy homer. - Connection module out to mixer in works with no issue (+30dB accepted, so that´...

Re: The good old mono 35-63 issue

I can only speak for studio use, but never had to repair any of the cables I made. It´s a medium setup, so around 250 cables between 1m and 12m in length. Resolder, yes, to fit an XLR on one end or something. But none ever broke or got faulty. Connectors: Neutrik Cables: Cordial CMK222 and CGK122 I´...

Re: Intellijel Shifty

So what would it take to rebuild a shifty from primitives? The reason I ask is more flexbility and control over the routing process, so for example: - more than 4 outs - full (CV = sequenced) control over which output a signal is routed to, including multiple outputs at the same time - have the rout...

The good old mono 35-63 issue

Disclaimer: Never mind the signal levels in this discussion :) The market for /unbalanced/mono/TS cables that go 3.5 to 6.3 isn´t very big it seems. The same is true for 3.5 connectors - Neutrik don´t offer any except an angled one, so it probably has to be Rean. Fair enough. Or can you point me to ...

Re: Eurorack Go in practice

I´m in the same place, Mantis would make a lot of sense since I already own them, but the larger hp count is tempting. On the other hand... sliding nuts, 100mA less on the -12V... dunno. Unless you have a lot of very large modules, hp/conn ratio can lead to issues, as well as the PSU. Will spend eve...

Re: Ryk M185 Sequencer - per step repeat and gate mode

Most of the time I use the metro to get things started by randomly playing with step and pulse count settings, then fine tune to my liking. CV modulation is done externally with metron/voltera and voltage block. The split mode, additional step modes etc sound too much fun to be missed, so the m185 i...

Re: Ryk M185 Sequencer - per step repeat and gate mode

Torn between a second metropolis and this project: Would you say, operation is similar enough to run both together? Or are things different in a way that you always need to switch your brain between M185 and metropolis (like when using apple and pc keyboards in parallel, drives me nuts). Also: Any f...

Re: Voltage Block usability question

Meanwhile, I became a VB owner and find it to be a great companion to the metron + voltera combo: The combo gives dependent CV tracks aligned to the metron patterns, VB gives independent patterns floating on top of what the combo provides. The power of multiple sequencers :). Will look into more com...

So there is more to choo-choo than I expected. Re: WMD Metron sequencer

Well they could, I even tried that physically, but found that it´s much better for my workflow to have the "automation knobs" (Volteras) next to the modules they actually work with. With the current layout, I have the primary parameters of "sequence and mix" in one row, then the secondary parameters...

Re: WMD Metron sequencer

Let´s discuss this idea: Enable "module flip configuration" so that Volteras can be mounted upside down. Per Voltera please, so maybe a setup routine to press and hold the select button, then choose normal or flipped orientation. This means that the values created by Voltera pots need to be reversed...

Gents, thanks for your input. Cutoff: So the trigger point remains the same, but the length is adjusted? That´s a clear case for envelopes then. Model Railroad: How much control do those thingies offer over the various components that make up the overall sound? I´m not a programmer, so unless these ...
