Re: help me buy a second panel!

The Animate was a great panel. Having an NTO with a range switch, a DUSG, that terrific variable bandwidth filter and the all-important crossfader was a joy. The WAD could sound really outstanding, but I felt like the sword of Damocles was hanging over my head, and I worried about it all the time. ...

Re: help me buy a second panel!

I would second the need for both the SSG but especially the VCFQ. Using this in LO mode and using it's quadrature outputs can get you into some really great sonic environments and spatial movement. Ankersmit and O'Rourke's music is what got me into modular synths in the first place and Serge in part...

Re: Share your no input patches!

My standby no input setup with a 4channel mixer: Guitar>overdrive>EHX micro synth>input 1. FX Send > Akai Headrush 1 and 2 > Input 2. Each Headrush has a separate output for looping which goes into inputs 3 and 4. This way I can create a feedback loop and modulate it with a reallllly hot guitar sign...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

There is a mention in this thread of swapping longer shaft pots, any feedback using them, like harder to use the jacks or easier to damage than the shorter ones? I used the longer shaft. I'm not sure if I misordered or I was given the wrong ones but I decided to go along with them. I think they are...

Re: CGS 92 Stepped LED question

Great! Thank you. I wanted to get a range of where I should start. I picked 10ohm just because it was the lowest value resistor I had on hand. I knew it was going to be low. I'll try and get on this next time I do a parts order. :)

Re: CGS 92 Stepped LED question

How do you choose the value for the RLED? I imagine it dependent on which LED you choose. I put in a 10ohm resistor on both my SSG and DTG and they seem kind of bright. It's nothing I can't live with for the moment but i'd like to change them eventually.

Re: CGS514

I swear i'm not always this boneheaded. I am just royally fucking up on this module. I'll try the trimmer again. That would make sense because it dropped off all of a sudden as I was turning it. I tried swapping out the ics with the lower half and they are fine. I'm learning more and more every day....

Re: CGS514

I am having another confusing problem with the 514. I had it working great last night and was playing around with it for hours. Sounds great at audio rate and loving the control. I go to calibrate it today and was soon as I am adjusting p101 on the upper side it stops working. I try cutting the powe...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

So I read up more on the pre patching of the manual and the hissing I was getting was actually some tasty feedback. I'm pretty much up and running except I cannot change the freq of osc !. I'll try and trace it back tomorrow but i'm having fun right now.

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

I'm having some difficulty. I powered it up for the first time a few hours ago and have reflown everything. Both of my oscillators are not working. Everything else seems to be fine. I'm getting a really strong hiss. I'm assuming this has something to do with the power but i'm really unsure and confu...

Re: CGS514

Has anyone successfully built this board yet? I just finished and went to power it up to test before seating the ICs. I'm pulling down my multimeter and crossing my fingers and both the 10uf electrolytic caps explode. I took them out and tried a new pair wondering if I soldered them in backward and ...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

All of those are easy to find. I got my pots from synthcube, the pt2399's from small bear and the BDTR-2H from a seller on ebay. It was painless to source them.

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

I'm curious about the SMD caps on the backside. On all the images I can see of a built RM they are absent as well as a lack of mention in the build doc but they exist on the mouser order. I did an awfully ugly job soldering them in but they exist on my board. :despair:

I watched this first thing today and I loved it! You definitely have one person who will watch every episode. You have a really great premise and have a good way of explaining what you are doing. These are the kinds of ideas which drew me to modular synths and I'm glad you are exploring cybernetics ...

Re: CGS514

I am confused on what to do for Q102 and Q104. There are three options for MT Arrays; LS312, LS358 or THAT340. The component kit comes with both LS312 and LS358 but both of those have 8 pins when the socket has 14. Am I missing something here? :hmm:

Re: Maximus VCO C1_B

I dont know if a pic would help. I just cant see where the trace on the pcb goes. Ive pretty much given up. I don't think doing a continuity test would work because the solder point is completely gone. It was really a dumb and impatient move on my part. Ya live and ya learn.

Love it. That is a really good source video. I just moved into a new place and am finishing setting up my video mixer and feedback setup. I'm looking forward to getting to do video art again.
