My videos get sampled all the time. I am fine with it as long as there is attribution and if it gets big or used commercially I get notified and cut in. Here is one of my most favorite examples:

Sidrax world of tones shows itself to me everytime I play it on big PAs. Playing with the chaos in very small increments results in amazing tones, remindful of woodwinds and baby elephants.

Did you use the right output on the preamp? Sounds like you might have patched the envelope follower. Else, an SM57 is fine with gain on the pre at about noon or 1-2 o'clock
