Re: Small controller with SysEx

I use the Novation Zero SL MK2 for controlling several of my synths via sysex. Honestly, for the price and size I think it's one of the best options. I have it sitting on top of my TX7 to save some space. Other sysex/midi controllers from the same time like the Behringer BCR2000 are similarly sized....

Re: My Favorite Eurorack modules

That's a terrific idea! I've never seen that done before and honestly, I haven't used Sub-D connectors before - this seems like an ideal space saver and a great way to cut down on cables in your home studio. I may try to utilize this when I get around to making a case in the future. Thanks!

Re: My Favorite Eurorack modules

What do you want to know about the connections on the case ? I was wondering how you installed your outputs and midi clock/reset to all be controlled by a D-sub connector on the back. I've never seen that before but it seems like a genius way to integrate your modular with the DAW without taking up...

Re: Affordable CV Sequencers?

You're certainly not going to be able to beat the price of the SQ-1. Varigate4+ is a great way to go for 8 steps cv and gates. Another option is a MN Rene v1. Can find those used for great prices. Not sure what your HP limitation is but its huge, 32HP iirc.

Re: Is there anywhere I can buy JUST the MN Maths panel?

I've seen some people in the For Sale section of the site selling Maths w/ both the grayscale panel and the original included. Might be worth a shot PMing them to see if they'd sell you just the original panel.

Not to be a purist, but for gawdz sake don't sample from utoob or shitty mp3s if you want a vinyl kind of vibe. You can always ruff it up later if that's what you're going for, but you can't un-crappify it. if burial can sample from youtube it can't be all that bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: Korg DW-8000 with battery leak damage and repair.

Really love that filtered noise mod! i have an 8000 and 6000 and think i might have to do that to one of them. probably could add a switch with a few different caps to have the noise color be adjustable from the front panel? Great Idea, just put some smaller ones in parallel with the original, and ...

Re: Voltage Block / Varigate combo?

*i wish there was an Alternative firmware so that you could select a sequence and use the sliders as steps 1-8 and then hold shift to select steps 9-16. I would love for this to be the case. And the ability to change the range of the sliders from 5v to less if you wanted to sequence pitches. But it...

it would be nice to hear people say when they are not paid Hey, I agree. I think DivKid did a great job at being transparent about it being a paid promotion but hearing what some regular users think about it would be invaluable. It's not like he's going to say, "these jacks are all way too closely ...

Yup. I know it's been said earlier in the thread but run them vinyl samples through a low-pass filter. That's what always gives me the "warm" vibes. Easy to see the effect in this clip:

Re: Noise, S&H and Quantizers are missing from my rack.

Doepfer is also coming out with the A-149-4, which looks to be a very promising. It has four independent noise sources, each with its own sample and hand, and it has a master quantizer and attenuator for all four channels. All in 4hp. Allegedly due out later this summer. hot damn that's a lot of fu...

Re: Newbie asking help

Just my 2 cents but, I'd recommend easing gently into eurorack with one or two of those muscles first instead of going for all of that at once. Many of those modules are extremely deep and will take months to explore and understand fully. You already have the Mother 32, so you have a full voice, you...

Re: Noise, S&H and Quantizers are missing from my rack.

I personally really like the Zlob Entropy as a small S&H and noise source (white, pink, brown). It's only 3HP. For a quantizer.... there are many choices and different ways to go on that front. As far as something that took things to a whole 'nother level, ornament and crime is a great quantizer tha...

Re: How do you use your Eurorack?

Because yard fires aren't allowed in my area I needed a new way to burn my money. But seriously, I'm in the hobbyist camp. I will use the modular to create samples I use in my MPC or I make sequencer-based music that provides a background to other keyboard synthesizers. I've found that learning modu...

If size is a priority and you dig the sliders on Metropolis, Varigate 4+ packs a lot of power in a small unit. I like it's immediacy/jammability as well.
