Re: The modules that should exist (but don't)

Voltage-controlled robot arm. I mean, it would probably be rather limited, mostly because it shouldn't move around too much to avoid getting tangled in a patch cable nest. But something like a Useless Machine which flips your VPME T43's +12 switch instead of its own On-Off one should be doable. It w...

Re: Doepfer a-138e 3 Way Crossfader

I've bought one last week. I'm not even that big on ergonomics or old-school module design, but something about the A-138e wouldn't let my GAS alone... One caveat I've found is that the knobs' B position has the hardest knob indent I've ever felt. Useful for attenuation or 2-way crossfading, but unt...

26 Distings.

Edit: Unless you mean "weird" as in unusual approach to synthesis... Can you trigger a Teletype at audio rates?

Re: Modular layout and grouping

Why do you say that? I have them flipped in the menu and they work great. Ah, ok, didn't know that it has a flip-the-touchscreen function. Also, why do you think I should bring the steppy down? ...uh, because why not? Its jacks are on top and if you don't tolerate obstructed knobs on a Doepfer mixe...

Re: Modular layout and grouping

Well, if you're anal about dangling patch cables to the point where you'll mount a Synthbox upside-down, then you should probably move the Steppy into the lower row.

That being said, I don't think that the Synthbox and Toolbox are usable upside-down.

Re: Intellijel Quadrax

Gate multing is kinda cheap in the age of stackcables, so there's little incentive for module makers to implement gate multing features. I mean, if Intellijel did it the way you proposed and someone needed an ASR synchronized with something else (AD, LFO) they'd need a gate-to-trigger converter, whi...

Re: Intellijel Quadrax

I have a problem: I'd like channel 1 and 2 to be identical without using a mult (want to send the same gate sequence to vca and filter). I'm sending a gate sequence with different gate lengths to trig 1 and I'm linking trig 2 to it. (buttons from left to right: channel 1: grey, red channel 2: red, ...

I'm 99% sure that I'm overlooking something, but I couldn't find any info on this thing's response curve, is it linear or exponential?

(Looking for something linear for modulating CV while my Intellijel Quad gets eaten up by audio velocity control duties, and the mutes are a nice bonus.)

Re: Disapointing Modules

2. Disting - This will be sacrilege I am sure, but while I loved the idea of the Disting initially, I've literally never used it. Trying to remember what all the modes are, or even decipher them just put me off entirely. I'd never buy another multi-multi-function module without a screen again. The ...

Ladik J-120. Rule of thumb: When you need a simple-in-theory but weirdly specific utility module, Ladik's line-up is a good place to start.

Well, or Joranalogue Compare 2.

Only annoyance is that they arrived individually packed, each with a plastic bag with paper holder and a plastic tie. Not only is that not very eco-friendly, it's also a bit more effort to unpack than I'd have liked, especially if you're looking to buy many of these. Not sure why they aren't just s...

The best I could think of was using Mimetic Digitalis to sequence all 4 Plaits’ params using the Next input, and some sort of switch, but that’s not really what I want.
Why not? What is it you don't like about that approach?

Re: Decoupled gates from notes in sequencer?

Perhaps more than anything, following from the question from @authorless, I'm realizing that I was framing the question backwards--the question is less "why would one assume that a sequencer can take a syncopated clock," and more "why would one assume it wouldn't?" The manuals for Steppy and Tiara ...

Re: Decoupled gates from notes in sequencer?

The most basic of what you are asking is a trigger sequencer (or a gate sequencer) and CV sequencer. Then if you really feel the need, a quantizer, but if you are good at tuning the CV sequencer steps by ear you don't even need that. Are there CV sequencers that can take a rhythmic sequence in plac...

I went to Behringer’s website and also been through the documentation from 921B, 921A and 921 however I’m still confused. That's the problem with clones of vintage analog synths. Circuitry isn't copyrightable, but documentation is, meaning that Behringer's docs are legally required to be crap. 921 ...
