Re: inverse correlations

This rate of change would be 'inversely proportional' to the original. This is the part that I'm struggling to clarify in my mind. I want the rate of change to be the 'opposite' of the original based around a value set by the user. For instance, if the rate of change of the original signal is 2v/s,...

Re: Old school house/techno mixing/mastering basic guidelines

Most of that is stuff being clipped on a mixer. If you are mixing on a computer and not using a mixer put distortion on things.

Re: OSC->Gate->Mixer->VCF->VCA ?

"Gate" is also used for VCAs. Without knowing much about the Mono/Poly I would guess that those are VCAs used to control the different oscillators' output before the VCF and VCA (because you couldn't do it after). Like an on/off switch.

Re: Modules for creating envelope follower (for guitar pedal type FX)?

The Doepfer lacks attack and release controls, but at that price, might be worth a look. [...] Which module could take my audio signal and create a trig or gate? The Doepfer (and a lot of the external input/preamp/envelope followers) have a trigger/gate output as well. You can use that to trigger a...

Micro jumpers. I don't know which ones go where on the pressure points, though.

Re: Programmable time based logic: Forward last value

I don't know if I quite understand what you are asking. When you say "Forward the value that has last seen a change" do you mean you want a logic value (HIGH or LOW), or do you want a CV value?

I had a XD-5 for years and occasionally think about getting one again. It is a K4 with the sample ROM replaced with drum sounds. It is a fantastic drum synth.

Re: What is your favorite control device?

Aside from what you already mentioned...

For voltages:

Different implementations of clocked random voltages (think Buchla 266)
Sample and hold
Shift registers
Min/max

For clocking:
Dividers
Flip Flops
Comparators
Logic gates
Trigger delays
Slope Detector

Send the white noise through a sample and hold and trigger it with an oscillator and you will have pitched noise.

I will occasionally use one to extract an envelope or triggers (or both) from one timbre in the modular to be used elsewhere in the modular.

None of your examples apply to me, really. I will just answer some ways I practice. Jamming. Jamming is practicing. Skills are useless without being able to use them in context. Also, a sound can very well sound good on its own but sound terrible in the context of other sounds. Have a repertoire of ...

Re: Using CV to trigger other devices

Modifying a device is really going to depend on the device and what you are wanting to do. It is almost always going to require electronically modifying the device plus some electronics knowledge and the ability to solder. There are electronic and electro-mechanical switches that can handle mains vo...

You don't want it in quadrature mode, that does exactly what you described. You want to trigger both envelopes from the same gate in with the attack of envelope 1 and envelope 2 about the same.

A-138e Quad Three-Way Crossfader/Mixer/Polarizer is super handy for CV processing. The original CEM based A-121 Multimode Filter (VCF2) is one of my favorite filters. A-198 Trautonium Manual/Ribbon Controller sees a lot of use from me. I have two A-166 Dual Logic Modules. A-162 Dual Trigger Delay. A...
