Re: Connected Powered Speakers to Stereo Receiver

Input 4 has what looks like a tape output. He could rout the phono signal out to the interface that way.

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?

Yes, when you think about it, reemployement is often more expensive than getting new things. But it’s sustainable. For example, in my town, there is an organism that transform old furnitures into, new ones (Better design, less wood), but the result is more expensive than IKEA, anyway... Some people...

Re: New Veils vs Tangle Quartet

If you want to use it as a mixer, I find TQ more flexible, as it has a dedicated mix-out. You can at any time chose to take one of the sources out of the mix, by taking it out of one of the indiviual outputs to add envelope etc. I find this solution superior to the daisy chain solution. A single TQ...

Re: What is a piece of gear that you will never part with?

Pretty much all of my drum gear. I have drums and cymbals I haven't touched in over a decade, but I just can't seem to part with them. Cymbals especially - unless you're talking cheap stamped metal cymbals, or Paistes (they're unusually consistent), every cymbal sounds a little different when compar...

Re: Alternatives to Rings in 2020

yeah, and thats where Rings "can" play an important role in a euro modular ! Very true, and that might actually make a module like Surface, which lacks an audio in, less desirable. It may not be Rings, but it's still physical modeling. How different will it really sound, and is that difference enou...

Re: Alternatives to Rings in 2020

Amen to that. I was thinking exactly along the same lines. And the only people who are going to know it’s Rings when they hear it is a very minuscule percentage of the population. It's a bit of a dilemma. Only other Eurorack users are going to know it's Rings, and even so, not all of them are going...

Re: Any rule of thumb for used modules?

I see, but then Americans who buys Eurorack knows this, and most likely they won't buy at 10% off for a used module, i certainly wouldn't, i'd rather buy from someone in the EU then. I wouldn't either. Other people do though, and that's the problem. Also, sellers will base their asking price on U.S...

Re: Any rule of thumb for used modules?

you bargain with the store? it's totally unheard of for me, maybe it's an American thing. Some U.S.-based modular stores online have a 10% off coupon code that can be used at any time. Anyways, price used takes perhaps 5 seconds to check on modular grid market place, no one will get away with selli...

Re: What do you use to tune your oscillators and synths?

My ears + Peterson iStroboSoft tuner app. It works well, as long as you work within a frequency range your device's mic is able to pick up. (My iPhone picks up low order overtones for the the lowest octave and a half or so of my 6' grand piano, and the first undertone for the highest 6th.) I've also...

Re: Any rule of thumb for used modules?

Unfortunately, most people price their used modules according to how much they paid for it (which, in the U.S. tends to be the same no matter where you shop), not the lowest store price for a new module, which means a fair number of used modules are priced above new from someplace like Juno. And tha...

And I would've thought a soft "H" but fair enough.
I may be wrong, but I say Hermod with an h like her and hermit.
In their tutorial videos, Squarp pronounce it like AIR-mod. But I believe they're French, so they probably would pronounce English words like her and hermit the same way.

Re: Mutable Instruments Veils 2020

But Stages and Marbles are among the more recent releases in the catalogue. While Marbles was no redesign of any previous Mutable modules, the Stages was supposed to be a replacement for the Peaks, so I highly doubt Emilie would be redesigning the Stages. Okay, I must be unclear. I wasn't saying I'...

Still at least two more coming though, if I'm reading her Instagram caption correctly. Yes, I was commenting on the final two modules being the Clouds replacement and possibly a Yarns replacement. Re: Mutable Instruments Veils 2020

I'm not in the market for a VCA ATM, but this looks great. While I perfer knobs, gaining functionality is much more important. Saving 2HP is nice too. For some reason, the channel 4 offset trim pot looks shorter than all the others. I was hoping at least one of the last three modules would be a comp...

What do you mean by "...you'd need something else for generating gate patterns." ?
Ornament & Crime only does CV. If you're looking to get rid of Marbles, you would need another module to replace the t section.

Re: New to Eurorack - how can I interface MIDI USB keyboard?

Keep in mind that the KeyStep only has one set of analog outputs - you can only play/sequence one note at a time. Also, the Mod output is shared between velocity, aftertouch, and the mod touchstrip - you can only use one at a time. It's not a big deal for most modular users, but I don't know how you...

Re: New to Eurorack - how can I interface MIDI USB keyboard?

The holy grail is probably the Expert Sleepers FH-2. There's also 2hp MIDI, Noise Engineering Univer Inter, Endorphines Shuttle Control, Polyend Poly, Intellijel µMIDI, et al., and the aforementioned Doepfer. It all depends on what features you (don't) want. Here's a what ModularGrid search turns up...

Re: Delay devices. Where are we on that?

Aside from the clock in and the size, you just described the 2hp Delay. Haha those are two pretty big features! Well, to be fair, "optional clock input" is rather vague - it could either mean not necessary for the module to function, or a feature of less importance to you, i.e. not a dealbreaker. A...

Since the comment was to a video introducing the new version of Ripples, I don't think Ripples counts as one of the three final modules. I'm hoping Shades doesn't either, since it was featured in the video as well.

It makes me chuckle when I see splashes of it being used for aesthetic purposes. It's always katakana, too. You never get to see kanji or hiragana getting used in the same way, either. On the reverse side, I do also love seeing English being used in the same way - purely as an aesthetic element. Ma...
