Re: Rack Review

So are you basically using Maths all the time as an envelope generator (or also you also press-ganging PNW into envelope duties as well)? Given you've got the Hertz and the Chord, it seems like something that gives you a bit more envelope control (and more envelopes period) might be useful; it'd als...

Re: Akai S950 Sampler Sound - ALM MUM M8 and samplerate-reduction?

If you've got a modular-to-pedal interface, also checkout the Ottobit Jr pedal from Meris. Doesn't do timestretching or repitching, but if you're looking for bitcrushing & sample rate reduction, it's fantastic. It also has a decent filter and a fun "glitch" parameter, along with a funky up-to-6-step...

Re: I'm sorry, really, but I'd like your opinions re QPAS or Stereo Dipole or Parallax

Compared to the Stereo Dipole, you might think of the QPAS as something between a filter and a resonator. It can do basic filtration, but if you turn the Q up you really get into more resonance than original signal and you're hearing far more QPAS than VCO. Now, the ability to play with that resonan...

Re: Ritual Electronics - Miasma

I've held off on it only because I'm not sure different diodes add that much of a difference. They actually make a massive difference. Even if you didn't use the "open" slot on the Crime expander and stuck with the five pre-installed ones, the range of different sounds they make is very broad and b...

Re: Most Lush Dripping Wet Chorus Pedal?

The OBNE Visitor is a double effect pedal with a primary Phaser / Chorus / Tremolo and a secondary Chorus / Tremolo. So you could Chorus your Chorus, so to speak (although I've generally run it Phaser - Chorus).

Re: Favorite looper pedals?

Blooper, but my only points of comparison are various Ditto iterations. I'm liking my Blooper, but I always have to remember to heavily *attenuate* any signal that goes into it. I'm using the Boredbrain INTRFX to drop my modular signal down to pedal levels, and it works like a *charm* for all my ot...

What´s best practice when using multiple mantis cases? Especially with cross patching between cases? I think of places where ground hum could creep in and how to avoid that. While a monster case sounds tempting, it´s not so tempting for travel :) I'm running 2 Mantis cases and 1 Intellijel Performa...

Personally I much prefer a locked screen rather than a Chase mode that follows the sequence. Reason is (and yes i mostly work with long sequences 16 -64), I like to edit the sequence while it's running, and it's an absolute nightmare when the UI keeps flipping through pages just as I'm about to edi...

Matter II. I have yet to ever really integrate into a finished track ... but I sort of don't care and love it anyway? It's just fun to stick Euclidean Circles on the triggers, stick a Hypster on the modulation, and just start moving pins around. I'll just let it run and see what happens, or end up w...

Over the last few weeks id almost given up and just ordered directly from Addac via Reverb, shipping be damned. Let's hope the order goes through.

{DELETED} Edit: okay, 1 step further in. You don't uninstall the drivers from the drivers page like you would with most devices...you uninstall them by uninstalling the ES driver app thing. That got me through that part of the update. having separate configs for connected and standalone mode *rules....

Re: interfacing with DAW

Since you're already using Ableton, it's 100% worth it to get CV Tools. ES3+ES6 (assuming you've got an optical / lightpipe in/out on your sound card or current audio interface), or the ES8 or ES9 (which are USB sound devices) are all great solutions, but far from the only ones (just be aware that i...

Just got the Old Blood Visitor. It's a Phaser / Chorus / Tremolo with a "secondary layer" that can be Chorus or Tremolo. It's freaking amazing. Set the primary layer to phaser, set the secondary layer to tremolo and it really brings things to life.

I just got one last week and I can also put a vote in for the Boredbrain INTRFX. Works like a charm. 3 separate loops, CV control over the mix on the loops, etc. Form factor is a bit funky, but hey, at least it doesn't take up space in your rack!

EnsOsc has quickly become one of my favorite modules, it’s one of those that almost feels like I’m cheating when I’m using it. Yeah, it's so easy to make beautiful evolving pads with so little effort, or interesting evolving drones, it does feel like cheating sometimes. Just add a chaos module with...

Mutes that cue on a clock trigger sound like a great idea! Would the mute state itself also be controllable by triggers as well as the manual buttons?

I've had a pretty firm "no new effects pedals or end-of-chain modules until youve -really- explored the E520" rule in place since I backed it and it's saved me so much cash over the last 6 months! I just hope the problem with the black panels is minor and doesn't hold things up much.

Not the direct answer you're looking for as it's not in modular, but if it turns out you'd need to buy another module to make the sound you want; i'd say check out one of the Shreddage 3 VSTs from Impact (assuming you use a DAW). They're *insanely* good; i've got the Serpent but the Rogue and the Ju...

It's sort of in the realm of percussion, but burst triggering a pingable filter while you modulate the cutoff freq is fun. Likewise using it for any modules with "accent" inputs (QPas, lots of kick modules, etc. I also will occasionaly burst trigger every X measures a sequential switch (if you have ...

Exactly. In most occasions you can reapply the knob so that it points at 12, and then 7 to 5 will, once again, be min to max. Hahahahaha... of course! Euclidean Circles (for triggers) & NLC Hypster (for modulating) into Folktek Matter II. You don't just get the "whoah, I moved one pin and now the whole thing sounds different" aspect of base Matter II, making minor changes to the trigger patterns and how they overlap on EC can totally change the so...

What? The pots work the same way as before, as long as you place the knobs correctly. Is that what you're saying? They still rotate the same way, obviously, but "positionally" or for a particular setting the L/R is flipped from the more usual "left is low, right is high" mentality. So like if you h...
