Re: New intellijel wavefolder/crossfader: bifold

How is it for wave folding CV? It works great. I wasn’t fond of using my uFold II for CV, simply because wavefolding introduces a very specific character to a wave, and it was a bit too regular/predictable for my tastes. With the Bifold’s two channels and Mix output, however, one can get some very ...

Re: New intellijel wavefolder/crossfader: bifold

The Bifold is starting to trickle out into the rest of the world. I picked one up today from Patchwerks, and Wigglehunt shows it at Clockface Modular and Nightlife Electronics. My impressions so far are excellent. It’s very well thought out and deep with capabilities. Worth the wait.

Re: Ochd or Sloths

And if I get the ochd am I also going to need to get a levit8 or something :-)? You’ll need attenuation regardless of whether you get the Ochd or the Sloths. They both output at a large enough range that you’ll want an attenuator for many (most?) applications. I have both the Ochd and the Triple Sl...

Re: Turing Machine vs Permutation vs Marbles

Also, if I was to go the Permutation route, Greyscale has B-stock 18 HP units on their website for only $30 more than the regular 12 HP ones. I know that is a lot of real estate, but it seems foolish to me to not spend the extra $30 for the added outputs/fuctionality. Am I wrong on this? Note that,...

There’s another thread on basically this same topic, where I give some arguments for why I strongly prefer my Turing Machine to Marbles, and it has some other details you might find useful as well.

The Delptronics Thunderclap is 6hp, and apparently you can find it with a black panel that’s only 5hp. That said, I’ve never used one, so I can’t vouch for it.

Re: Xaoc Tirana II micro sequencer

Here's a question from an electronics novice: I have a pair of Tirana IIs, and while I think they're keen, I frequently go back and forth on how I want to use them: as a linked pair, or individually. So I find myself wishing that linking/unlinking the two modules was easier than breaking out the scr...

Indeed, that strum mode looks pretty sweet.

Seconding VCNO; I was about to talk about it and was surprised someone else happened to bring it up. Maybe it's not so obscure after all, but it's not a very common module to see in racks much less out of Hexinverter gear.

Re: Favorite module that no one knows?

I hope these are obscure enough for you: — The Kilpatrick K2579 is basically the sequencer of my dreams, and I don’t understand why it never really caught on and then fizzled out as a product. It’s so powerful for its size. — I also have a lot of affinity for the Hexinverter VCNO. I have so much fun...

Re: Doepfer A-130-8 Octal VCA

Speaking for myself, based on my time with it last night, I haven’t found it bothersome at all. Also, I understand that this type of ‘just above zero’ threshold is standard practice for analogue VCAs.

Re: Is there a sampler(File Player) that you would consider a 'voice' ?

So far I haven’t seen any mention of what I regard as the lowest-common denominator of file players: the 2hp Play. It tracks 1V/oct, has a loop mode, can hold 32 files on its microSD card, and there’s no file-length limit. You do need to be very mindful of the format and names of the sound files, bu...

Re: DivKid Mutes

However, there are so many other use cases. For example, you could mix a number of different oscillators into a sound, and use the mutes before the mixer to cut out one or more of them. That way you can fatten up a sound performatively, for example when you hit a chorus in your song. In this vein, ...

I recommend considering the Happy Nerding 3x MIA. Three channels of dual-input attenuation/offset/mixing which you can combine together in 6hp.

I believe we're describing the same thing. Just as you're saying, I'm describing the benefit of a using an externally supplied gate. Or maybe not - Are you meaning a footswitch in RUN? Re: Announcing ALM017 - Pamela's NEW Workout

It does indeed, but an external clock is much easier to use dynamically, as Pam's only has one dial — for all its functions — so changing the BPM isn't possible when you're in a menu on something. I use an LFO for my master clock on everything and can spin it up and down as needed. I don't really l...

You can get a good view of the module in this video . The jacks are labeled “PITCH”, “MOD, “VEL”, “CC”, “GATE”, “TRIG”, “CLK”, “RST”. As @ATW said, this appears to be the original uMIDI 1u but pruned back with the “RUN” and “1/16” jacks removed. So I don’t think it will support two channels. Danjel ...

Re: New intellijel wavefolder/crossfader: bifold

As am I. The Fold 6 looks like a nice, tidy utility wavefolder, but the Bifold's routing, mixing and feedback options turn it into a "wavefolding laboratory", which I find highly appealing. I can get blissfully lost in the space created by a pair of VCOs and a ring modulator, so this is right up my ...
