Re: Eurorack brand philosophies?

Instruo — Premium What makes it Premium? I know people currently rave about them, but I don't belive the hype. While I do like their HR Giger style, the mini-trimmer-knobs and faders and wild combinations of functions holds me off. Are their designs made by themselfs or are they copys of vintage ci...

Re: Eurorack brand philosophies?

@s/t, you're right that this is a thread about perception, which includes some speculation. What I'm objecting to is the statement that the "shared system is a priority to the extent that other modules may be retired so that the core modules from the Shared System may be kept in production ." Nothin...

Re: Eurorack brand philosophies?

... Obviously contributing to the Eurorack community is still a big passion for them, but it’s conceivable that their Shared System is a priority to the extent that other modules may be retired so that the core modules from the Shared System may be kept in production. What? What is this based on? I...

Re: Trigger to sync oscillators for ultimate phase alignment?

Ah ok, thanks for the references! I’ve actually been playing a lot with this technique (in eurorack), thinking of it as an analog approach to pulsar synthesis. I usually trigger a function generator for the “pulsar envelope” (driving a VCA for AM),and sync a pair of VCOs patched as a complex oscilla...

Re: Trigger to sync oscillators for ultimate phase alignment?

Yes, this will help you get all the initial transients right in a line--most useful for very short attack sounds. No matter how you tune them, "key sync" will help keep you from getting clicks and pops right with a sharp attack. I'm not in 5U, but I've had some trouble with Eurorack modules that ha...

Re: Impedance and buffered mults

What do you guys think, how many modules you can connect to your typical modules audio output, without having to worry about impedance and having to consider a buffered mult? And what will the effects of overloading an output look like? Actually, interesting for audio as well as dedicated CV. Multi...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

I've done a short amount of testing on VCV rack. It seems to me that in "green" mode (i have no idea what it's called), if rate is all the way to zero, it functions pretty much like branches if you patch your trigger into Clock and use t1 and t3 as outputs. Can't wait to test this on my hardware, i...

Re: Behringer ARP 2500 modules

@galanter2 Depends on the input. Some put a DC blocking cap there, some don't. You don't think that's significant when asking whether a DC offset is audible? What I'm suggesting is that the DC offset may not be intrinsically audible, but it is in some sense "out of spec" and the difference heard is...

There is a whole lot of ambiguity thrown in there for good bad measure. Since our circuits do *...

Re: Behringer ARP 2500 modules

... I added the detail that 2500's VCFs are DC coupled to help you understand that feeding a 0-10 WF into them is different from sending them the same thing centered on 0v. The straight mixing and inverting of the T circuit doesn't change this fact. Does not require anything non-linear or any super...

Re: Just got a Make Noise LxD and it doesnt sound right

Hey guys, interesting topic! I wonder if Maths can create an Lpg by itself. I am in between purchasing another vca or Lxd. I would go for another vca, knowing that I could get some sort of an lpg out of Maths. Maths cannot create an LPG by itself. An LPG Is sort of a combination of a VCA and a low-...

Re: Recommend combo reverb delay

Verbos Multi-Delay is more focused on the delay side but has a reverb too. If you're considering 2hp modules, the verbos might be a lot more HP than you want to spend on these effects, but it does sound great.

If anyone could convince me that they’ve built a quad VCA with enough functionality to make 20hp look slim, it’s joranalogue. I’ll be watching this with interest!

Re: VCO no output without pitch CV (Bateleur)

I’m not personally familiar with the bateleur, but could the VCO be tuned too low to hear (or at least too low for your monitors) when it’s not receiving V/oct? that is something that has crossed my mind -- I'll have to bust out an oscilloscope or something and see if I can measure if the output is...

Triplatt is dead simple to use, like any attenuverter module really. I find its extra features do come in handy from time to time.

Re: Picking out a new oscillator

If you're interested in samples, there are lots of cool options. A lot of people have suggested wavetables. If you want something similar but analog, I find that the rubicon2, with suitable use of its warp circuit (e.g. use squish mode, put a chosen wave through a VCA and back into the X input), can...

Re: Patching Suggestions For Newbie's First System

You could try picking a small number of modules at a time, say two or three, and restricting yourself to just patching those in every way you can think of. Try to get as many different sounds out of them as possible, and pay attention to how you arrived at those sounds. This can be a great way to le...

I can’t tell if this thread is trolling. In case it’s not: if you want one beat every minute, then you want one beat per minute, 1BPM. It’s right there in the name.
