Re: Nano Modules ONA vs. Intellijel Dixie II+

I haven't used the ONA (only the dixie ii+), but it looks like function-wise, the ONA has the advantage of multiple sub waves, and the dixie has the advantage of an extra FM input and two types of sync. Are any of these features important to you?

Re: Another First Eurorack Post - Mayonnaise Edition

I want unique tones ya know? Something only my combination of modules could deliver. A standard monosynth in modules is not going to give you any more "unique" tones than any decent modern hardwired monosynth. I would even go as far as to say that a laptop running ableton is capable of a significan...

The RND Step from SSF/DivKid was designed with pretty much exactly the goals you described, definitely worth a look. 6 S&Hs arranged in pairs, with clever normalling.

Re: A Small Verbos System vs. Reliability?

Looks like a lot of fun to me. Never heard of any issues surrounding Verbos. That is a top notch company. I say do it! Not to be a downer, but there is a long thread on this forum (currently on the first page of the eurorack forum) describing what can only be described as "issues surrounding Verbos...

Re: Verbos - customer support

I have a Bark filter and a Harmonic Oscillator. The HO track very poorly V/oct, over 2 octaves and i'm already totally off. Very dissapointing as i like the sound of this module. So have to restrain myself not doing too much crazy melodies and keep it 1 / 2 octave max... Did you try to adjust the t...

Re: Verbos multi delay with switching power supply?

How do you find the core sound of it? I come from a guitar background, and I find myself looking for the Deluxe Memory Man of eurorack. You know, the one delay, that almost objectively sounds better than the rest. And yes, I know, it is a question of taste, but some things are pretty much universal...

Re: Verbos multi delay with switching power supply?

You guys are great. I'm sitting on the fence, listening to your opinions ;) Has anyone had a chance to compare it to the Mimeophon? I know they very different, but I'm still curious to hear your thoughts. I don't have hands-on experience with the Mimeophon, but here's my two cents. Mimeophon is a m...

Re: Verbos multi delay with switching power supply?

Have you done it? Does it work? I use mine in my make noise 7U with no problems; I’m reasonably sure the make noise supply is switching? That is great to hear - thank you 👍 Hope it works for you! You probably already know it takes a lot of power, but just in case, I thought I'd mention that too. Ye...

Re: Granular module for CV signals?

That said, there's another way to use it where you record audio that is being affected by cv and use it's envelope follower to get a sort of pseudo equivalent cv. Came to say this. I believe the technique goes back to Subotnick, who applied it with tape machines and a separate envelope follower; se...

Re: How to "duophonic" in eurorack ?

hi ! Duophonic, paraphonic, polyphonic, it's all a little bit confusing, as everybody has their own explaination, but nobody can ever really agree. So, one of my favorite feature on the Moog Sub37 is the ability to play 2 VCO at the same time by pressing one key. (that, we all know how we can archi...

Re: 2nd Maths or Quadrax + expander

Exponential rise and logarithmic fall or the other way around (I think you can do it with maths but takes both channels). You can do it with a single maths channel, patching feedback to either rise of fall in order to change the shape of that segment. What do you mean by feedback - which Maths outp...

Re: 0-Coast Breakdown

Thanks for all the responses. So MATHS, DPO & an Optomix pretty much covers all bases other than wavefolding? The DPO does have a (fairly deep) waveshaping/wavefolding section. The bases those three don't cover are (1) MIDI -> CV (important or not depending on your setup/workflow/goals), and (2) a ...

Re: VERBOS ELECTRONICS

I'll pop into this thread with my steaming hot take: the phrase "experimental music" has essentially no meaning at this point in history. The "urinal in an art gallery" moment for music happened more than a generation ago, and at this point, "being experimental/transgressive/etc." is no longer "expe...

Attenuverters are important (at least attenuators), since the morph and organize CV inputs don't have their own.

The io47 resonance can get really pronounced (50% is already more resonance than some filters will give you, at least before they self-oscillate), to the point ...

Re: Jove vs Instruo i-o47?

I'm quite new to the eurorack world and got a Jove as my first filter a couple of months back. I love that it has so much character and also its form factor with big chunky knobs for CV and cutoff. However, a few months in I'm starting to miss a bit more functionality. I'd love to have separate out...

Re: New Systems Instruments - Harmonic Shift Oscillator & VCA

Thanks, everyone, for the appreciative comments :-D @ari ellis you have good ears. There was a temperature problem in the prototype where self-heating of a tempco resistor would produce about 10-15 cents deviation on higher pitched octave+ jumps, then stabilize to the right value after a few second...

Re: New Systems Instruments - Harmonic Shift Oscillator & VCA

Wow, sounds really good! The website's equations are helpful but I think a spectrogram demo would be helpful to visualize how the harmonic control is effected. Some interesting sounds in that video for sure, I like the idea of the level and stride controls. That said, it sounds to me like there are...

Re: New Systems Instruments - Harmonic Shift Oscillator & VCA

Some interesting sounds in that video for sure, I like the idea of the level and stride controls. That said, it sounds to me like there are significant tuning/tracking issues that would make the module hard to use... Is the demo just out of calibration, or is this a design limitation? EDIT: prompted...

Marbles is both very immediate and very deep. It goes way beyond a simple "random source + quantizer." The Deja Vu section (which is similar to a turing machine, but with its own excellent additions) is a big part of it, and I agree with the comments of everythingcontinues above on this aspect. Anot...
