YESSS! I was waiting to see if you would discover this on your own instead of me saying "Here's how you can do 303-ish accents".

And by the way, do you have any plans to do new Rene videos? You must have discovered new ways of using it in the years since. Not really, Walker has done some great ones since, and the things I've learned since then are kinda just subtle variations on the same ideas. Like how I transition between ...

felix to the rescue again :hail: That is such a useful tip. I almost never used the Y-Gate outs in snake mode but now I see many possibilities. The best part is that the Y-Gate page overrides the logic settings so I can still turn any gate or on off to have complete control over the rhythmic patter...

Folktek Matter is a favorite as far as aesthetics.
Morphagene is quite striking, especially factoring in the backlighting colored LEDs

Agreed on the other mentions too.

I just tried that idea with the two separate clock outs from uMIDI and it works a treat :yay: Thanks felix . It's funny why I never thought about doing that with two separate clocks even though I've had these modules for about a year... I always patched the two clock outputs to the X and Y clock in...

ErbeVerb. A reverb capable of some pretty great drones all on it's own. Or get some kind of reverb - Eventide Space/H9 or Strymon Big/Blue Sky if you don't require it to be a euro module. For a case, the TipTop Station 252 is about a sturdy as it gets in that form factor, but they're pricey and I'm ...

Envelopes and multimode or state-variable filters (ones that have HP and BP in addition to LP). These alone will handle the percussion and to some extension the texture variation. They can also help generate that with what the M32 is capable of generating. VCAs that have offset controls (so you can...

Thanks for reposting that. They are quite insightful; I too found OR to be the most useful so far. XOR, I have no idea :hihi: Well, if it makes you feel any better, using XOR still hurts my brain. XOR will only pass a gate if both CLOCK and MOD are different values. If they are both high or both lo...

Re: Building an interactive feedback loop for live piano....

Are you familiar with the live electronic piano works by David Tudor, Gordon Mumma and David Behrman? I too would highly suggest reading up on Tudor's work at the very least. Quite an example of what's possible with some very basic "processing". As for my opinion, I think your best bet is around de...

This is one of those racks I look at and think it's missing so much - but once I really started thinking about it it's pretty versatile... just totally counter to the way I work! Which is one of the reasons I ended up settling on this configuration. The basic things that I always do are right there...

Re: Where to from here?: A Story and Suggestion Box

fwiw, I totally feel like my current euro setup is an instrument (photo in this thread https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=176082 ) And, as a guitar player for ~15 years before synths, it has replaced the guitar for me. I don't miss it at all. While I do feel the synth world, and modul...

Hello James, my fellow San Jose wiggler! HEEEEYYY!!!! Really sorry we lost touch, let's definitely get together again soon. I'd be interested in knowing what drew you to those modules after all the other things you have used. I've wondered the same thing over the last couple years and have come up with what I think is accurate. Some or all of these things might be directly influenced with trying to keep my main system t...

No problem! I'd just hate to see a bunch of people unload Phonogenes only to miss aspects about it that the MG doesn't have.

Once the firmware is in the can and and shipping, I'll be happy to elaborate on what I find to be significant differences between the two.

Considering selling my Phonogene and buying this, but is there any verification this will take Line Level audio? It will. Software controlled gain instead of the hardware control like on PG. I'm hesitant to give exact details since it's still in beta and potentially subject to change, but you'll be...

Out of interest, I'm wondering whether *you* every feel a bit short of modulation in this set up Not too often. Sometimes, especially if I'm using both channels of MATHs for a more complex envelope (or one half for some kind of utility/slew/something) and could use a 3rd slope. I have the LFO mode ...

The boom in modular has been large, but I think lots of this is down to the collector mentality. With the Nord Modular all you have is that system and you have to sit down and learn it and make music with what you have in front of you. Without wanting to sound harsh, I don't think this appeals to m...

I think I'd feel a bit light on modulation so I'd be tempted to try to fit it a Function or something similar. I'm not sure how much I would use Ears in this set up --- maybe tapping a tempo for Tempi? In which case that gets covered with the new firmware as far as I understand? --- so I'd be tempt...

personally i would find room for a filter, probably by dropping the mysteron or one of the optomixes filtering just brings so much to the table imo Yeah great point. There was an Epoch TwinPeak in that spot before the Mysteron (and an MMG before that) - I put the Mysteron in there to get reacquaint...

I used to have rules for what to keep. I had a box/suitcase that was the "not using" area and I'd put a little sticker with the date on it that I put it in there. If I ever needed to use it and took it out, sticker would come off and when it went back in the box, new sticker, new date. If something ...

Nothing. If there was room, a RxMx and a Brains (thought you had a Brains?), but nothing there I would want to take out. Yeah, I've tried having RxMx in there a few times - it was there once instead of two optomixes at one point, and I had the FxDf in as well. It was also there in the spot where th...
