Re: TUTORIAL: Analog Kick Drum by Stazma

I had one thought to try out quick, to mult the gate used to trigger the kick to a VCO's sync input, and see how what effect it might have on the kick sound when the waveform position is reset with each kick. It usually gets rid of the starting click transient which is sometimes desirable, but you ...

Re: eurorack drums

One piece of advice I was offered by the owner of Control Voltage (which I ignored) was to find modules that were not traditional drum modules and learn to make unique percussion sounds from them. This is probably the best advice for the OP purposes if the standard sounds are boring. I have drum mo...

Re: TUTORIAL: Analog Kick Drum by Stazma

This is really great—thank you for sharing! I've often been patching kicks using Maths + VCF + VCA configurations to get control over 'thump', pitch envelope, and A/D times. And now going to explore more w/ patching the VCOs in the fashion you demonstrated. I had one thought to try out quick, to mul...

I’ll add to this. I’m only a recent-ish indoctrinee to the Eurorack cult (being 2-3 years in), but MG is such a critical and expansive resource, I can’t imagine this hobby without it. Kudos and thank you. Me too, totally can't imagine it without and aslo I must declare that I visit MG in a regular ...

Re: Filter recommendation(s), to round out the herd.

We’re in a similar sphere, I also have Ripples and Belgrad, as well as Overseer, VCFQ, Filter8, and Three Sisters. I feel these cover a fairly wide of sonic territory and utility, and without stepping on each other’s toes. Of the ones not in your herd that you mentioned, Overseer definitely feels mo...

Re: Beginner looking for some module advice...

FX Aid by Happy Nerding is excellent, the XL version is a good choice because it has CV control over the parameters. A swiss army knife VCF like Filter8 that is also a sound source, pingable, and lfo could be useful. VCFQ as well (more sonic character IMO). Ochd packs a punch with modulation, I keep...

Re: please critique my dream rack

Actually, a couple quick ideas: * There is a micro o&c by Tall Dog I am a big fan of with the best 8hp panel layout I've seen so far: MG link * To capture the mirrored layout vision, wouldn't it make sense to flip one of each side's FONT/ONA pairs so they are mirroring the Mix 3's? IE, FONT > ONA > ...

Re: Indian Classical Music

Glad you dig it! Let me know if you come across any amazing episodes—some of them are just 2 or 3 ragas, and sometimes they've got vocals and different instrumentation. It's quite a range of sounds captured in their show. Currently listening to the Sarangi Special episode from 16.09.19 for a second...

Re: Buffered Multiples on Intellijel Palette

It is a pair of 1:4 buffered mults. The first mult's input normals to the 2nd, meaning that it is also a 1:8 buffered mult by default—until patching an input to the 2nd set of mults. Because it is buffered, it's suitable for pitch w/out noticeable droop, among others typical uses like multing gates/...

Re: Mutable Instruments Veils 2020

Not sure if its possible but is there anyway to have incoming cv cause the fader to go from positive to negative rather than from negative to positive? would love to be able to create a sort of side chain/dipping effect but can't seem to figure it out ! This would typically be done by inverting an ...

Hey everyone Just wanted to thank you guys for your replies. I went with the u screw the rails and shove everything in(gently). But I gotta admit it definitely bothers me. Re: please critique my dream rack

Still scratching my head. The best advice I can reinforce from the folks here with more experience than I is to test theories by starting small. Break it into stages—if you’re eager to spend the money, maybe considering splitting purchases into increments with ‘wait periods’ between purchases to get...

Without looking at this rack plan through the lens of ‘outsider art’ —or purely as a thought experiment—this is a bit concerning.

(If this isn’t a troll post, the advice above is dead on.)

FWIW Doepfer's new (v3) cases and busboards feature keyed connectors, so I think they've changed their position somewhat.

Congrats! It's been a great soundtrack for the work day, gray skies with snow falling. Getting some John Carpenter vibes in places. The weird things: no Natural Gate at all this time. I went for bright and noisy for the most part, so LPG just didn't happen. My Natural Gate is in absolutely no ...

Re: BIA analog alternatives?

SSF Entity Percussion is an analog module that gives you a huge amount of flexibility. It's not a BIA, but nothing else really is. The manual for the Basimilus does diagram out the voice structure. Maybe you can get some patch ideas from that using what ever oscillators and wavefolders you have. Ye...

So does my Doepfer 138s — it took me a minute to figure it out because there aren’t any LEDs.

Re: Interesting uses for attenuverters

Similar to Megarat, I am often using mine (including Shades) for dialing CV ranges for pitch, as well as mixing and manipulating various envelope shapes and LFOs before a VCA.

Plenty of other useful things like inverted & offset envelopes before a VCA for ducking,
