You could make a really cool voice with a Spectrum and a Doepfer a-110-4 through zero oscillator.
Definitely—that’s a big sonic palette in a pretty small space.

uPlaits, for sure. I have a Tall Dog version I enjoy, good layout, solid build, 8hp is about as small as I’d want to go.

Klavis Twin Waves would be a good choice, too depending on your musical goals

Re: Advice on adding VST's or hardware synths to Ableton Live 10

Ultimately it is all about where creative flow can be found. If Ableton is a comfortable environment to work in, you’ll enjoy limitless possibilities built in to the software. Add Max for Live and it grows exponentially. VSTs can be easily added in, are abundant and many are affordable. Splice is wo...

Re: FM Aid or a second VCO

I have several modules which do TZFM or phase modulation… What are some of your go-to TZFM/PM capable modules, Starthief? I am considering FM Aid, too—before I dive in I want to see how much FM/PM I can derive with my existing sound sources. I have Mangroves, a the two CEM3340-based VCOs in the Neu...

Re: Modules that FEEL good

I've seen a lot about ALM on this thread. I only own the PE-1 and don't get much from the knobs. Is there maybe something this module is missing that the others aren't? The feel of the knobs and the weight of their motion don't strike me as particularly special. For me what's interesting is the pan...

Re: Modules that FEEL good

ALM, Mutable Instruments, and Mannequins Overall both of these companies are top notch with excellent ergonomics and comfortable hardware choices. Their modules often feel like playable instruments, and the utilities are straight to the point, without sacrificing personality. There is a bit of whim...

Re: Multiple Plaits system?

I could see getting two. Such a wide sonic palette to work with. Would be fun to double up the 2 operator FM mode. Or make a quite capable drum kit using the mode cv and a precision adder to get several drum sounds triggered. Say, the Vermona random rhythm and two plaits...sounds like fun

Re: variations on tonal hat sounds from simple oscs

Love me some hat variations. A couple quick ideas that come to mind, these all have a degree of control, though not sure if you mostly want to wiggle within what the oscillator offers, or are open to add'l modules coming to the party: * FM: pitch ramps of every flavor; create a 2 operator FM drum sy...

Re: Beginner needs advise to start sustainabily

Welcome! I started out with a similar decision: something like a Grandmother, or a semi modular synth. I wanted to test the waters, and eventually came to the decision that having a built-in keyboard interface would be a hindrance really knowingly whether modular was for me. Without those guardrails...

Re: Needs sequencer for a portable modular synth, 208hp

SQ-1 was mentioned, and for a similar-ish and affordable approach, Ladik's s-180 8 step sequencer at 4hp, paired with the add'l 4hp 182 expander that does pitch cv—along with something their easy quantizer, (or one you might already have)

Mimetic Digitalis plus a quantizer could do the trick—if you have a Disting, o_c or similar you ought to be in good shape.

i recently acquired the Klavis Flexshaper from a fellow wiggler, it’s a fun one so far, getting some nice grainy bitcrushing textures and such: here’s a thread worth exploring:

Re: Announcing ALM017 - Pamela's NEW Workout

Updated to 204 successfully on a Mac after several attempts. It wasn’t until I took my Macbook out of clamshell mode, unplugged everything (usb, as recommended in ALM instrux, power, etc) that the firmware app was able to detect the Pam’s. Then it installed quickly, up and running.

I have uMidi, Steppy, Audio out, and USB power in my palette’s 1U row. So far it’s a great setup, I can easily connect to external gear, bring in midi, and power my Sq-1 and NTS-1 with the usb. Steppy and Pams are on the left and are a great rhythmic pair as another wiggler pointed out on this threa...

Re: What's in your 4U Palette?

Flying bus cable idea sounds like a good theory to test. There are dedicated power connectors to the inside right side of the bus board that bridge the case’s audio and midi jacks to any modules connected to the 12 main power connector. Also one (or two?) that are small for powering the 1u USB port ...

I'm not sure if the Ts-L or the FX Aid will fit, though. Anyone know how the power connectors are placed on those?
There are twelve 16-pin power connectors on the board, you might need to factor that in w/ the number of modules in your case.

My favourite is Twisted Wave which is paid Mac only but is really nice for Markers and can do nice batch type stuff like splitting files up on markers and what not, really useful.
Yes, this is my favorite sample editor for Mac, worth every penny.

Looks like some nice audio mangling is on deck. And the black & gold & silver play well together here. HWhat is the module furthest to the left w/ the clear knob?

Cheers
