Re: Wow, I just learned about VCV rack..

VCV Rack can send/receive, via the standard CC > MIDI and MIDI > CC modules: https://library.vcvrack.com/?query=&brand=VCV&tag=MIDI&license= I have used Rack to send pitch and gates to class compliant MIDI devices over USB, like the Neutron, as well as the uMidi module in my modular rig. Using a MID...

Re: Playability and build quality of Matrix Mixers -- 4ms Doepfer and Low Gain

One thing the A-138m does particularly well with the panel design is to demonstrate signal flow. I think the NLC panels have some qualities that simplify the labeling, including a lack of numbers on the pots. They still muddy up the usability (for me) with the location of hardware on the panels—feel...

Thx for the feedback + link to the MG thread (much appreciated). Maybe an algo tweak. My assumption was it was based on the average rating assigned by users.

Modular Grid > Module Ratings

I'm on ModularGrid a fair amount doing different rig configurations. I noticed today's evaluation list (on the left side of attachment) looks a bit heavy on the MN. Granted, there are a bunch of duplicate instances of Maths on the top modules list. Out of curiosity, I Wayback'd to about a month ago ...

Re: What does "snappy" Really. Mean?

It’s an interesting question to explore because snappiness is timbral as much as it is physical. There are envelope shapes and properties that can be assigned to amplitude, pitch, filter/eq, and reverberance, among others. Take a white noise audio sample, and map each parameter to a discrete envelop...

Re: Playability and build quality of Matrix Mixers -- 4ms Doepfer and Low Gain

I can't speak for the DubMatrix, but I have Low Gain's CVP-1 and there is absolutely no slop on that module whatsoever. Awesome build quality. The red panels they're using now, though... I personally can't stand. :zombie: However, if you are open to DIY, ModularAddict has exclusive black panels... ...

Re: Disapointing Modules

Isn't that kind of the point of a Disting? No reason to bring it into a patch when another dedicated module will work, it's just an extra multi-tool for when you need it. (Which isn't to say it couldn't be the first thing you patch, if you start off knowing you'll need something that none of your o...

The other tip is get “Modes” - much easier for looking up what an algorithm does.
+1. Distings should come with Modes!

Support has nothing to do with this though, OP was talking about user experience and initial QC. I totally get there are many manufacturers with great support. That is what is so great about this little electronic niche and hats off to them for providing it. Wobbly plastic pots, scratchy pots or wi...

My humble 2x104 contribution! https://i.imgur.com/doxXbOg.jpg I have about 6+2 hp left, and I'm not too sure which route to go now - on the one hand, I want to bring more filtering diversity (I love the 2144 but its resonance tends to be a bit on the quiet side), but I also wouldn't mind more drum ...

Re: wobbly and loose buttons .. it sucks

I’ve had pretty good luck so far with reaching out directly to the maker. when a scratchy pot popped up on a filter recently, the company graciously fixed it and shipped it back for free. I have also reached out to a maker or two with general questions and had good interactions. Have you contacted t...

Especially with a channel of Sloths modulating the Ochd, infinitely ev...

If you are using reverbs, highpass the input. +1 I heard this mud-reduction tip as well—(I believe from Divkid). High-pass the stuff like upper register synths and high hats before they go into reverb, and only the 'good parts' of the audio signal will be 'verbed. A sinewave bass sounds won't neces...

This looks great. Impressive HP density, and the ring mod addition look v cool. If the panel design isn't in production yet, wondering if there would be any interest in some minor design feedback? I have a couple quick ideas re: legibility and simplification, given the panel density. I'd be happy to...

Good call on a headphone output. I may do the same, when I replace the previous uMidi with the new one and free up some room. Like stated above, Doepfer filters definitely good to explore. The Learning Modular filter comparison looks at at least three up close, alongside a Belgrad and others. Double...

Welcome! Looks like you're on a good path, and thx for sharing your thinking. A few thoughts/points, take with a grain of salt: * Warps + Dixie gets you into complex oscillator territory (fun). Thru-zero sine from Warps + Wavefolding > Dixie * Ripple's built in vca will free another one up elsewhere...
